Lee walked around and around the piles of book. "Barzul! Where am I? This maze of books is getting old fast." He'd been walking for what felt like ages, but was honestly only a few minutes. He noticed a rather large book about dragons and their eating habits. "Vhike!" He swore rather explosively, reverting to an ancient changeling language. He caught himself before he started hissing and calmed down. He'd passed that book three times. "This library is impossible. How in Hades am I supposed to make it out of here without starving? Not a pony in sight or feel." Then, almost as if summoned by his fit, he felt a presence. "Finally, some pony came here to read." He followed the feelings of their emotions through stacks of books and around piles until he came upon a lone stallion. About middle age, rather plump with white hair. Lee hid behind a stack of books (of which there were many, so hiding wasn't to difficult) and watched him, ready to fight if the need arose. For extra measure, he cast the chameleon spell he'd been working on earlier to help him hide. It wasn't perfect so he wasn't invisible, and he still cast a shadow, but the light was in front of him so his shadow wouldn't be visible. Other then that, his coat took on the colors of all the books behind him rendering him, for all practical purposes, invisible. He then settled in watching the stallion go about his business. He smelt fresh air coming from the direction past the plump pony so he knew he had an escape if he had to leave. He then sat and waited, seeing what in the world he'd gotten in to.

As you hide behind the books, you peek over his shoulder at the book. It appeared to be a book of myths, with several images of shady black creatures swirling around, with text beneath in a different language. "Well, then..." he murmured slightly. "It fits almost exactly what's going on here, and also explain that odd nightmare I had last night..." He shook his head. "But it's only a myth, and they were banished by the Priincesses thousands of years ago, even if they weren't... why won't this make any sense?" He shut the book and held his head in his hoof for a few seconds before standing up slowly and, shaking his head, started to walk towards the room where you came from. "Oh, well... perhaps my unexpected company is awake... I could use someone to talk to right now..." He walked right past you, coming back the way that you came.

"Alright, if everyone's done socializing..." Moon Crypt said with a small frown. "So we've figured out that the main source of the dark energy is coming from the clock tower, so chances are that is going to be where we look into first- carefully, of course. However, the clock tower can't be the only source of the corruption here. We need to look more into the mayor and her office, and, also, we need to find Lee..."

 

"So let's see... I am going to have Sunny, Solar, and Jaeger together, and they are going to be going to White Quill's house to meet with him. If all goes well, we'll have another source to go by in determining the motives of this demon. When you are done with that, find Lee. He is going to prove essential to the mission, and if he's been captured, we need to know immediately. Once again, me and Charcoal will be going to the mayor's office. We have a lot of stuff to investigate over there. Charcoal, I'm trusting that your stealth and, possibly, your knifework will prove useful in poking around while I distract the mayor in picking up your discussion from last night."

 

With that, breakfast came around, and Moon Crypt tossed the waiter a couple of bits before looking at Sunny's face and pushing his breakfast towards her, procuring a small bottle full of pink fluid which he drank a gulp out of.

Charcoal nodded at Moon Crypt, but then the memory of what happened in her dream flashed and she made her decision. "Actually, I feel like we should head to the clock tower. I just... I have this feeling... there is something important there, something that I need to see for myself. So if we could take a detour to the clock tower I would very much appreciate it." Charcoal said, hoping Moon Crypt would agree.

Sunny beamed a smile at Jaeger and Solar, being happy she would be able to work with them even though she had no idea who this White Quill was. Really, the who idea was a mystery to her either than the possibility of corruption in the mix. "Looks like we'll be workin' together on this one. Best be careful I don't leave y'all in the dust, Jaeger and Soaly," she teased happily as she stuck her tongue out. At that time, the food had arrived, Sunny wasting no time in consuming it. When she saw Moon basically give her his breakfast, she cocked her head sideways and looked at him curiously. "Ya know...even the toughest of ponies know to be eatin' their food when food is available..." nodded the mare sagely as she watched him take his strange drink.

Lee watched as the stallion walked back the way he'd come, apparently having memorized the path. He wanted to follow him, but thought of his mission. They were here to gather intel, and that book he was reading could prove to be valuable. Torn between the decision of nabbing the book, or tailing the overly plum stallion, he started pacing back an forth, still hidden to the naked eye. His tail passed over some old books and kicked up some dust, and before he realized it, he let out a very loud sneeze.

His frown deepened as he considered Charcoal's request. After a few minute, he gave her an odd look. "Well... I suppose, but, since I want everyone back by noon, we'll only get a few minutes assuming that you work fast and get it done."

 

He also turned to Sunny and said, "Due to my special... diet, the Inquisition has been able to, with my help, leech ever-so-small amounts of love from all over Equestria. Not enough to make any difference whatsoever, don't worry. It's used to help the ten or so changelings in the Inquisition, and we don't need it that often, but it replenishes me as if I woke up from a nap after a large feast, and it'll keep me like that for a couple of days."

You hear the stallion come dashing into the room, looking at it closely. "Hello...? W-who's there?" He looked around and, after a few minutes, his eyes locked onto the shadow that the chameleon spell didn't hide. "I-I know you're there... please, break whatever spell you're using. I c-c-can't and won't hurt you..." He looked around for the source of the shadow, a terrified look in his eyes.

Lee nods, then remembering he's nearly invisible, ends the spell with an audible pop. He looks at him curiously, wondering at the fear emeinating from him before remembering that this stallion knew he was a changeling. "He doesn't know that I'm...well...would reformed be the word?" Lee cleared his throat and, hoping to break the tension, said "I come in peace." A smile broke out and he couldn't hold back a laugh. "What's wrong with me? Why am I laughing like this? Is this town effecting me strangely? First I end up with Charcoal...now I'm having giggle fits?" He thought all of this as he recovered from his bout of laughing and managed to put on a straight face so as not to scare the pony in front of him. "or not scare him worse then I already have."

Charcoal nodded and felt a bit relieved. Good... he fell for it. Now we just need to get down there. Charcoal thought to herself. "Alright, I'll try and make it quick. But I honestly have no idea how long it will take exactly." Charcoal said. She also wondered what exactly would happen, but she figured that her questions would be answered when they got there.

As the food arived, Solar dug in, however did not want to seem impolite in front of Sunny. As Moon Crypt slid his food in front of the pair, Solar looked to Sunny before looking back to his commander. "Sir, If I may ask...I bet we're giving off enough love to feed the entire hive." he said jokingly before looking back to the food. "I'll split it with you Sunny."

 

As Charcoal mentions the clock tower, Solar stops what he is doing, mid bite and looked at her. "I don't think that's a good idea. That tower gave me theses headaches. It almost feels like my head wants to pop out a horn it's so bad." Solar did not want to tell the mare what the tower had promised him. "Don't worry though, that tower will get what it has coming, I can promise you that, even if I have to rip it down, brick by brick to get to that evil!" as Solar brings a hoof down on the floor hard. He looked to Sunny, hoping that his mood swing had not scared her.

 

"Sorry about that. These migraines seem to be getting worse, even with this blocker pill....Anyway, I think we'll have fun, don't you Jaeger? Just the three of us, running around the largers old library outside of Canterlot. Good times!"

Jaeger ate his food slowly, he never really was hungry, he didn't knkw why either, not like he cared. He looked up to Solar and Sunny, giving them a smile, but in the back of his mind he was hoping that the two wouldn't jeopardize the mission. He trusted they wouldn't, seeing as how they were both very good at keeping their eyes on the mission and not each others flanks. "Yes I do think it will be lots if fun! Plus White Quill is a nice stallion so I think he will welcome Sunny with open arms." He said with a laugh

"Nah, you can have at it Soaly," Sunny nodded as she didn't even jump at his outburst. She merely remained quiet as she looked to Jaeger with a curious face, "So...this White Quill feller is friendly ya say? By golly, I'd sure hope he likes me then...." A confused face suddenly came over the mare as she cocked her head sideways and looked around at the group. "Uh...anypony wanna fill me in on what exactly we're doin' again?" Sunny asked in her naive, and easily distracted nature. Hilariously, the mare actually had no idea what they were doing either than facing the corrupted. It was almost as though she had blotted out all the grim portions of the mission since they had began...but that could have been why she was a member of the Cadence Branch.

I know he said two act like a void... and if I understand him right... I could do it to Moon, but... could I do it to Lee? Charcoal's stomach grumbled loudly and she reached over and grabbed an apple which she begins to munch on as she thinks, not paying attention to anything again.

Jaeger stood up from the table, his food half eaten. He looked to Sunny as to answer her question. "What we are doing is going to se one Mr. White Quill, but you already know that. He told us yesterday that he would be able to tell us more about a prophecy that was tied into a rather unusual orb that I ran across in the blacksmith shop." He said with a half smile as he slid Solar a small pack of the pills, about 4 of them. "Solar take those, one about every two hours should do well, here, Sunny you take some as well." He said giving the mare a pack of pills. "Alright. Lets go."

Sunny nodded at Jaeger, even though she was still slightly confused on what the purpose of all of it was. When he handed her the pills, she gave a hidden look of disgust being that she absolutely hated medicine. That was why she refused to give blood earlier...just something about it...With a brief glance to Solar of whom she knew may need them in the future, the mare decided it was best to keep them as she placed them in her small pouch she carried. "See ya later Charcoal!" Sunny beamed as she rushed over and squeezed Charcoal in a loving hug before taking a seriously quiet tone with a worrisome frown. "...stay safe..." Doing her best to give her a smile, Sunny hugged her once more before trotting over to Jaeger and Solar with her majestic rapier jingling to her side. "Alright colts, let's be hittin' them roads now and this White Quill a mighty fine visit!" The mare shouted enthusiastically as though nopony was still waking up.

"Thanks Jaeger." as Solar took the extra pills. "I hope I don't need more of these, but thanks again."

 

As Solar nodded to Moon Crypt and Charcoal before he headed out the door, making sure that Sunny was in the middle. He was protective of her, and wanted to make sure if something wanted to go after her, it would have to go through him or Jaeger.

 

"Well, it looks like this is the place up here. It looks...smaller in the daytime. I'll knock to make sure he's up."

 

Solar walking up, noticed the door was open, seeing as it must be a public library, and entered than motioned for the others to fallow.

 

"Good morning Mr. Quill! Where are you hiding in the forest of books?" Solar laughed. "We've come so you could finish that story from last night! Just let us know where you are, We'll come to you!"

"Umm... I don't know, Mr. Solar. The changeling that I found knocked out on the streets just appeared out of thin air, he made a joke, and he's laughing so hard he's starting to have an asthma attack... do you know him, by any chance?" He laughed cheaply, but then turned serious. "But, yes, I'm serious. There's a changeling here. Err... go ahead and sit down in the parlor. First door to the right. If you would like to follow them too, Mr. Changeling? There's a door a few paces behind you, behind that tower of books. I'll get some tea." Smiling nervously, he shifted to the side behind a pile of books, and you heard clanging, water, and muffled curses coming from the next room.

Charcoal's heart stopped at Moon Crypt's words. Shit... um... okay okay, calm down. Just think about what you are going to say and don't panic. Charcoal thought to herself as she thought of a way out of this. "I... well... I... had a dream last night... and I had a vision. All I saw was the tower and Lee so... I just need to go to the tower."

Jaeger nodded to show that the two ponies were welcome for the pills he had provided them. He followed silently behind Sunny and Solar to the library, walking in when the door was opened. He looked around, remembering everything he had seen the night before, the smell, the towers of books, everything. He listened as White Quill and Solar exchanged words. His ears perked up at the mention of a changeling, My guess is "Mr. Changeling" is Lee..." he thought to himself as he looked to Solar and Sunny, hoping they thought the same thing. Is it just me or does White seem a little....off... he added. He tried to shake the thought off, but not forget it.

Sunny was a little shy entering the library, blushing nervously as she gazed around at all the books and shelves. She kept close to Solar and Jaeger in her feeling of awkwardness around the unknown area that she figured was a friendly environment. In an attempt to break the feeling after she lightly kissed Solar on the cheek, Sunny put on her usual smile and happily trotted over to White Quill to the side before sitting down cutely in front of him, "Howdy sir, it's a pleasure to meet ya," she winked with a friendly hoof gesture towards him, "Name's Sunny Caramel." Sunny then held her hoof out for him to shake.

"Changeling? Ahhh, that's where he ran off to. That would be one of my friends who must have gotten lost last night. We we're going to meet up."

 

Solar fallowed Sunny into the room and smiled at her kiss, as he layed his head on hers for a few seconds till White Quill came into the room. Solar looked around, seeing the open door where he came from. "Hey buddy, what are you doing back there. You want to come out a visit?!" he hollered through the door at Lee.

 

"So, Mr. Quill, I was wondering if you'd like to finish that story from last night...if you would please. The one that involves that orb."

Lee, seeing his joke totally not working. Managed to compose himself. It was just then that the rest of his party showed up. "What...where did you guys come from?" Shrugging, he started to walk towards the group when he noticed the book he'd seen earlier on the table, still open. He walked over to it and read as much of it as he could as quickly as possible. "Some of the stuff in this book..." He looked over towards where his group had gone with White Quill. He yelled "Hey, sorry, I gotta get going. I want to meet up with Moon." Then, bookmarking the spot in the book that Quill had left it open to, he picked up the book and walked over to the wall. Using the sticky substance usually reserved for making cocoons by normal changelings, he stuck the book to the inside of the wall in a small hidden alcove. He then cast his chameleon spell on it, hiding it. Now sure that the book was secure, he turned towards the exit, and just about dashed outside when he remembered he was supposed to be disguised. He quickly shifted to look like a black unicorn, (see Poe) only with an anvil as his cutie mark. He then dashed outside, heading for the inn, hoping to rondevue with Mooncrypt and Charcoal.

Mooncrypt and Charcoal notice a dark unicorn enter the inn. He looks around for a moment before his eyes alight on you two. His keeps moving his head, looking around as if he hadn't noticed you, but you're sure he was looking for, and found you. The said stranger in question walks nonchalantly past different tables until he stops right in front of yours, sitting down across from you. "I was hopping I'd find you here." His voice is very deep, and somewhat familiar.

Before waiting for Moon Crypt to answer she turned to the unicorn. "Oh hey, may I he-... wait... hang on a second. Are you Lee?" Charcoal asked, starting to get slightly excited. "Lee, is that you?" Charcoal was beginning to get excited. Lee, please let that be Lee. Oh how much I have missed him! Charcoal thought to herself.

The dark unicorn smiled at Charcoal. He walked over to her, putting a leg around her, hugging her and whispers in her ear "The one and only." Then, turning to Moon Crypt, he says "I have something for you to see sir. There was a book that a pony named white quill was  reading it looked like it had quite a bit of information on our current situation. If you two were going somewhere, maybe we could stop by the library?"
