Wasn't really sure how to word the question. Maybe it's just me but it kinda bothers me when ponies keep contributing to negative discussions ("What if Applejack got pregnant?" sorts of discussion), or do or say other things that take away from the innocence of Equestria. Fanfics that explore scenarios where one pony murders the others or whatever, clopper roleplay, and so forth.

I'm not really trying to ramble with this, but to me the ponyverse has always been about optimism, innocence, and happiness. I always feel kinda bad when people produce things that fly in the face of these things.

I'm not trying to whine about anything or try to get anypony banned/moderated/etc, I'm just bring it up because I wanted to get others' opinions on the subject. Is it just me, or does anypony else feel the same way?

Well it depends what you're talking about. I don't like fanfics where ponies get murdered and there's blood and guts and disgusting stuff like that, but I don't mind fanfics that have sexual content and stuff like that, as long as it's not anything really weird lol.

uhm... ehh...no?

Not sure I got the question but I personaly dont have any trouble with people doing R34 stuff since people can be attracted to whatever the fudge they want and no one has the right to say otherwise.

As for the Gore stuff? I dont read fanfics the only gore thing ive seen is Smile HD I personaly dont like it, havent watched Cupcakes HD since I know what its about since people have mentioned it I dont like watching the ponies die although I have no problem watching shed.mov  since the characters and their voices are so inaccurate to the show and its funny.

As for keeping the fanbase pure? Pfffffffff not gonna happen, to those who are against all the R34 stuff and gore and all that stuff and hate on it arent really loving or tolerating. Germany was also against some stuff in the 1930s and they wanted a pure country free of stuff that they didnt like, should we really be discriminating people in our own fanbase for liking certain things? No. This is a lame statement but no one is forcing you to watch R34 stuff or gore stuff simply dont watch.

It depends whether it's done well and serves a purpose or not. Smut for the sake of smut or pointless gore and darkness that serve no point but to make things "dark and edgy" would be a no.

On the other hand, something like SIlent Ponyville that uses adult content well to help tell a dark, emotional, and engaging story is fine.

I'm not saying anything should be done to stop or censor it. A pony's freedom of expression DOES trump almost everything else. My point (which was probably not very clear, rereading my original post) is that those sorts of material take away from the magic, so to speak. I just think it's doing more harm to the fandom than good.

"Adult content" is a ridiculous idea. Gore or sex or whatever is neither good or bad in a story. It's all about whether the story is engaging and well thought out. If they use "adult" content well, then that is awesome. If they just try to make porn/gorn then it's bad. It's about the quality of the story.

SMILE HD was one of the better pony videos I've ever seen. MLP didn't draw me for being optimal, it drew me in for having a good story. Dark stuff doesn't mean anything to me

I guess the worst thing about the adult content in the fandom are the people who are dividing the fandom up into different ''groups'' or camps.

Lets make an example. People who likes the R34 stuff are by most people called ''cloppers'' this way the ''bronies'' that are ''pure'' are not assosiated with this group of bronies who likes the R34 stuff. Think about the next time you call someone a ''clopper'' why do you call him a clopper and not a brony? Isnt he a brony just like you? Im against the word clopper and I hate that I have to write it at the moment. Im not someone who's into the R34 stuff. But im very much against these so called ''bronies'' that are trying to make the fanbase pure from all this stuff and are hostile to people who likes that kind of stuff. Clopper is a degrading word and its wrong to say it.

I like to see some of these aspects explored in the fandom. Also sometimes I just want to read a silly fan fiction where Rarity and Zoidberg get married and have babies.

Check out my "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" fan fiction on Fimfiction.net under the same username here: Rush.

I say absolutley not. It should be pure and innocent. Although I am into the sex and stuff, I don't go posting about it because I understand it can ruin the show for other people so I tend not to bring it up.

Gore for sake of gore for the most bores me with the exception of  those ooccasional moments I get gore cravings. I don't mind it but I do want it to serve some purpose. I do like clop though, whether I want purposeless smut or it to have a point depends on my mood.

Nope, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. As a horror movie lover and an avid looker at rule 34 (no shame), I don't mind it in the slightest. Hell, some of the nicest looking images I have seen have been adult-oriented. So, I don't mind it and I actually rather like it, to be honest.

I don't mind mind it as part of a good storyline. But gore etc being there just for the sake of the gore is bad.

I agree 100%. I see nothing wrong with adult themes.

For me it really just depends. I hate anything thats gorey or sexual and I hate it even more to see it in Equestria. If people want to write about that stuff and make videos about it, fine, but count me out. I obviously wouldn't want to see it in the show, either. I like the innocence and the happy theme in the show so I think for the most part it should stay that way. I wouldn't mind seeing darker themes explored every once and a while, though. Nothing too dark, but I wouldn't mind seeing it in the show sometimes.

well, I dont really care about gore, its creepy if someone immerses themselves in it, (its not exactly helpful to your mental condition), but its the clopping stuff i dislike. i dont think there is anything wrong with an adult perspective, heck thats what bronydom is. but looking for sexual pleasures in bucking ponies? ugh. nothing wrong with a little bit of passion wink.png (imagining fluttershy or applejack with a boyfriend makes me smile. wub.png ) but taking it out all the way to smut? uugh. a sure sign that someone needs a life.

It depends for me. I have no problem with clop, as long as it doesn't get too freaky... But grimdark and gorefics are certainly not my thing. I feel gore and ponies do not mix well AT ALL, and I avoid that stuff like the plague.

I wouldn't mind more (non-sexual) mature themes to flesh out the world, but I don't see much of interest to me. A more mature or well-rounded look at something doesn't necessarily mean blood, murder, rape, death, sex, pregnancy, etc. I assume the fascination things with like gore are more about gore than a more developed fictional world as the poll implies.

I'd happily read something discussing, say, growing up gay or lesbian in the pony world if the author understood the theme beyond, "Awesome! Two girls having sex."

In the eyes of people who are "creeped out" by FiM's following there doesn't seem to be much or any distinction between bronies and cloppers, anyway.

I voted in the 'kinda yes and kinda no' because really we are a community. The definition for Community is a group of people having a particular characteristic (love for MLP: FIM) in common. But it never said that we should all act or express ourselves the same way towards  Ponies. A community is built around unique people with very different views of their characteristics but they are all united by the characteristic nonetheless. Also; who the buck cares what some pony does with R34. I personally don't like that stuff but that's just my opinion.

Furries are just like us. They are labeled as wanting to do zoophilia because of a really small group of them enjoy fantasizing about zoophilia. Furries are pretty misunderstood just like us. Actually some of the community would categorize themselves as Furries. For people who don't know, most Furries just believe that they were meant to be something else and when they put the costumes that they wear they become their full selves.

Also worth noting that some of our celebs(like Mic the Mic) were furry celebs long before they became well known here.

No idea how you got furries out of my post.
