Not bad. Cheap motherboard and hard drive though, but the rest is all good. The processor is the best money wise though, since i've looked it up. I've been wanting to get an extra $20 for my computer build to switch from an Athlon x2 370k to the Athlon x4 760k. I haven't built it yet, but meh.

 

Has a Radeon HD 7790 in it too, since the parts are a decent bit higher quality and stuff.

It is indeed. But you also should factor in reliability too as well as later on in the PC's lifetime when things start to slow down. I saved all the parts from newegg and made sure each one would last at least 8 years on my part, but this may last about 5-6 or so.

 

Now to say the least, in 5-6 years they would be coming out with a console and such that's newer then the PS4 and Xbox one, so that is a good idea to do.

 

If only the damned Sony and Microsoft could put this stuff in...

You can look up the HP Pavilion Dv6 7010-US if you want. It was $700 to begin with, but my mom and I knocked it down to $450 so it's a sweet deal :3

I'm sorry, but that Shannon-Nyquist theorem is bullshit. The human eye can theoretically see unlimited FPS, although for that matter, any frame rate below 48FPS will carry the risk of straining your eyes. By respectable I mean it can at least get the 40FPS+ mark on decent settings.

 

For comparison here's a build that's actually a little bit slower than the one I was referring to running it:

I was going the "if it can run this resource hogging wreck somewhat competently, then anything actually programmed right should work fine" route.  

 

and I'd contest that, while running test to show what my low-end system can do I played MW2 just fine when it was running an average of 40-50 FPS on lowest settings and resolution.

At this point, this isn't something that bothers me. Sure, 60 FPS on everything would be nice, but it is either that the consoles cannot handle that with all games, the developers cannot do it, or it is just early in the new consoles life cycle and by early, I mean it just started.

Shannon Nyquist applies to digital audio, not video. The theorem states that to accurately reconstruct a digitally sampled signal, you need twice as many samples as the highest playback frequency. However, games actually take a lot of processing power to artificially add motion blur, and they tend to be very fast-paced.

Ah yeah, there's definitely going to be diminishing returns as you get higher into frame rate and lower into response time. I still think we should be pushing for slightly higher frame rates though. I'd like more focus on a 45fps standard with increases in film from the 24fps standard (or 30fps, depending on where the movie/show is being filmed) to 45-60fps. IMO, 45fps sounds much more reasonable to integrate right now. 60fps can come a bit later.

 

Too bad everyone's focusing on 1440p, 4k, and 120Hz instead.
