Are Bronies/Pegasisters being THAT nit-picky?

Okay, maybe not the best title for my topic. But do you feel that sometimes bronies in this fandom over analyze a bit too much?

I mean I know not everyone has the same tastes but some people pick on the smallest things in the show. I've also noticed this during the S4 premiere yesterday. There were a few fans who had problems with the premiere.

Well I just want to say this:Not every thing has to be perfect and you should at least enjoy what have from S4. I actually liked the S4 premiere! It was so much more history and the elements than from what I expected! Kudos to Meghan Mccarthy and the staff. /)

I seriously agree with you there. I saw ponies complaining about the flashback where Luna became Nightmare Moon. Of course, they didn't know out was a flashback yet, but ponies were saying stuff like "Get it together, Luna!"

Crystal Patch -- "Let the party begin!"

Everlasting Wave -- "Bring out the turntables!"

Arctic Aurora -- *Ignores and works on art* (British Accent) "I-I'm sorry. What was that?"

Ember Mist -- "Whatever." *Starts Reading*

Silver Night -- "Would you like some tea?"

Much so agreed. It's a TV show why would you expect perfection? I see a divide in the fandom now lol but back in topic. Bronies just enjoy the show no matter the slightest flaws.

It's true that we over analyze it sometimes but it's usually in the name of good fun :). A lot of jokes in the fandom have been born from that. Some people can take it to the extreme though and that can be annoying though. We should be at least somewhat critical with new episodes I believe so the show wouldn't get sloppy on us. Recognize both the good and bad. Some people over think or become overly critical but I believe most of us don't. We have our hearts in the right place :)

I agree 100%.  I find that a lot of people complain about the tiniest detail, that not everyone might even notice/care about and I'm sitting there like, "Really?"  I think in every fandom, people complain about things.  I find that all the time and it sucks. :/  Some bigger things I can understand, but a lot of times it's just little things...

My problem was I wanted more of an in depth history on Luna, Celestia, Discord and the EoH, and I think alot of wanted this as well. The episode just felt all over the place to me, I didn't feel like anything was lead up to, it was just do this, do that. I feel as if it could have been done better. There was just to much crammed into 40 minutes, that's all. Overall it wasn't a bad premiere. But don't complain about others having their own opinion, that's being no different than the haters who complain about us liking the show.

The only truth that can't be removed. As long as the ugly flawed truth is still exsisting, it is a sore in our eyes.

So many people hate the openings because they don't give us what we expected for so long.

At least, they have shown us some good flashback about history. But i think it is unecessary since most people can invent the brief history themselves, but the exsistence of the tree of Harmony amused me most.

Definitely. It's alright to have certain expectations and disliking certain things and episodes, but sometimes their criticisms just get retarded

People analyze because they care about not just the show, but the quality thereof, also. One good thing about the analyzation and review community is how they keep DHX and the quality of the series in check. Just because episodes aren't perfect doesn't mean DHX can't try nor does it give the team any excuse to slack off and write badly. If many of the analyzation community didn't review nor critically think, then they're just accepting the show at face value and just sucking it up. Handwaving critical thinking (even when the reasons don't make sense) via the "you're nitpicky" strawman greatly insults the mind and craft of episode-developing and reviewing.

I, for one, analyze and review because I'm there for the quality, and I'm making sure it stands up to scrutiny. Episodes like Winter Wrap-Up, Hurricane Fluttershy, Sleepless in Ponyville, and Party of One stand up to that scrutiny quite nicely. Conversely, Owl's Well that Ends Well, Magical Mystery Cure, Equestria Girls, and The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well objectively don't.

As for the season four premiere, it was decent, and I like it quite a bit, but to say it was the best two-parter is displaying gigantic hyperbole. There are many issues I had with it, as displayed here.

I have a friend who overanalyzes the living hell out of the show. This same friend is very critical of the show, and is also really nit-picky. It's not fun to talk about ponies when the person you're talking with is angrily ranting as to why your favorite pony sucks. dry.png

I personally don't see why people get so worked up with the show. I just enjoy it. As others have said, some people go too far when they "analyze" it, and criticize the show.

Never underestimate the power of adults to overtake children in fussiness. There's such thing as a healthy amount of criticism now that we're old enough to think more deeply about our cartoons, but when you're legitimately angry over an episode short of one promoting dogfighting or one promoting the sex trade industry then something's not right.

A lot of people are overanalysts, like me. I have to actively try to shut down my analyst brain to enjoy the show, because even though I love analysis, MLP just watches better that way.
