Alicorn potion, magic, or chemical?

So i've teased the idea that the alicorn potion is basically a drug.

Twilight has bad reactions to it,

huge mood swings,

her bad friend discord suggests she take another swig,

the dealer who supplied it wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pool.

My theory is the potion has a chemical reaction that sparks a magical one in a Alicorn.

Which you guessed it, makes it a drug.

Dues ex machina my foot that's a PED at best (performance enhancing drug).

Diablo level grinding lOL.

(how did you get to pony level already?i still remember your welcome thread!)

anyway, this is definitely a interesting appraoch to the potion thingy tongue.png

but if it was a drug, why would zecora make it and then give it to twilight?

Pff thanks for the soft ball question.  The first taste is always on the house.

besides it's understood each of the ponies has a habit they are paid for.
LIke futter shy and the beavers.

Zecora makes potions (and what not).

well,

what are the potions?

Objection!

The side effects you mentioned are actually natural emotions, not a mood swing. Mood swing is when one's emotion changes without any cause, but for Twilight, the reason of her emotion change is her belief of doomed Equestria.

I'm thinking the potion is purely just magic, that specializes sending one's conscious mind to the specific 1000 years ago past, that is yet activated due to lack of magical potential. And, shown in 'It's About Time' how difficult even 3 day time travelling spells are, it must require damn powerful magic to activate the potion's purpose.

A mix of a bunch of chemicals that when combined with Alicorn magic as Zecora said, can have some interesting results. If it is a drug, this is probably why we have not seen it in the Equestrian Black Market. Not too many Alicorns around to enchant it really.

I feel that the potion is inherently magical. I have two main reasons for believing this.

I do not personally feel that a chemical could perform what seemed to be more of a non-physical process - in this case a sort of out of body experience in which Twilight Sparkle saw the past, but no one in the events she witnessed were aware of her presence. Time travel, as far as I am aware, is not an inherently non-physical process, but due to the fact that Twilight seemed to be fundamentally separated from the scenes she witnessed I am inclined to believe that, in some way, her mind/spirit was present in those scenes she witnessed, but her body was not.

My second reason is the fact that Twilight had to use King Sombra's magic in order to activate the potion. King Sombra's magic is evil, but as demonstrated in The Crystal Empire episodes it can be used for good in very specific situations - such as when Twilight used it to reveal the stairs that eventually led her to the Crystal Heart. I doubt that using such magic on a chemical would be necessary.

Not many details were given about the potion, but due to how Zecora regarded it and how Twilight decided to use dark magic to activate it, I am inclined to believe that the potion is negative and dangerous in some way. It is possible that it was originally designed for harm - especially since the decoration on its bottle and the fact that it only responds to alicorn magic are both reminiscent of the alicorn amulet from Magic Duel. However, in this case, Twilight used it for good.

I think Zecora is a drug dealer of some sorts. It would make sense since she doesn't live in her native area or why no Zebras are anywhere near her.

She might even be an wanted criminal ohmy.png

OH my God, welcome to team bad guy ^^.  (fngr casting for the sequal to bridal gossip LOL)>

Or it could just be one of the MLP series' ever famous and ever present deus ex machinas!

why?  It gave her a vision.  Pfff those are the same spells dnd players skip over LOL.
