Why hate for Snips and Snails?

If I recall correctly one of the comics during the

Nightmare Rarity

arc explored the good sides of Snips & Snails.

Snips saved the day with his awesome talent for cutting cords.

 

 

They're not bad characters, they just need to be given more depth like this. As it is they're just comic relief caricatures.

I don't hate them, I just don't like the fact that so far they have existed solely to be mindless minions. If the writers were to use them in a more positive role in an episode I could probably grow to like them.

I think they're okay characters. I don't really like them that much though, I find them a little annoying. Also, as others have said they're kind of mindless sheep.

I'm neutral. I don't have much of an opinion on them either way. Most people dislike them because they're annoying, and stereotypical dumb male characters. I find them a bit annoying, and I can definitely see why people don't like them. A lot of the hate would go away if they got good character development, and were used in a more positive role.

I came to put my two cents in but, it seems like everything I've had to say has already been covered;

 

-Stereotypical dumb and dumber male characters/lackeys.

 

-Uninteresting due to severe lack of character development after three Seasons.

 

-More or less the male equivalent of Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara.

 

I don't 'hate' them exactly, but I do let out a low, agonized groan every time they appear on screen (which is really a shame because I enjoy Lee's voice work.)

 

If they're characters are improved upon this Season, my opinion on them may change for the better.

Honestly, I remember ranting about these two when I first started watching the show. The thing that bothered me so much about them was that they were two of very few male characters early on that had speaking roles, and they were idiots. Still are. For a show that's supposed to be so based on female empowerment, some decent male characters would have been nice, at the time.

I don't really hate them, but I definitely don't like them. I've never really been a fan of dimwitted characters. I just find their voices annoying, their actions annoying, their stupidity annoying.... Actually I find their general demeanour annoying.

I wouldn't worry too much for them at the moment.  While they are clearly the Bulk and Skull of My Little Pony, even that duo progressed over the span of the show, and even had a really cool moment helping the Power Rangers when it mattered most (Power Rangers in Space finale).  While Snips and Snails may be obnoxious now who knows what they will eventually become?

I would like to hear more from him.  Haven't heard much of his actual character except in Applebuck Season and Ponyville Confidential (Hearts and Hooves Day doesn't count, he was magically lobotomized there).

Big Mac never really factored into my thoughts on males in the show for one reason: He says two words. Yup and Nope, at least at that point. I'm not sure about lobotomized, so much as again, stupid. Or possibly just extremely stoic. However, still not a great male figure. Obviously, at this point, that has been addressed to some extent, but at the time it bothered me intensely that well
