Ok so what are the age restrictions for the multi player? Also do you need an EA account?

There are no "age restrictions" for Battlefield 3 multiplayer unless you have parental settings enabled on your Xbox 360.

If you want to play online you need to by the game new and use the Online Pass it gives you.

Of course that only counts for the xBox, on PC things like Age Restriction is pretty difficult to set up so often non existent.
