This is a song i made as a theme for an animation coming up, (hopefully) that i VA for.

Hopefully you like this, and if you do please like, favorite, and subscribe, it really helps out when you do!

Check out the song here!

sorry the song is kinda short, it was supposed to be made so that i could make it longer/shorter depending on what the show's intro needed.

It's an ok song.

Not to make you feel bad but I feel it's a little TOO simple. Even though some musicians say that in some songs, the beauty is within the simplicity, I feel that this piece has lost some of it's beauty due to the fact that you limited yourself to only using two chords. Plus, the transitions could've been longer and smoother. It felt like chopped sections of one piece. Also, add a tiny bit more variance into the beat so that it won't sound monotonous to your listeners.

It's a good start and I could tell you put some effort into it, but it just needs some touch-ups.

7.5/10

Thanks for the criticism, a great artist knows that the best kind of feedback is constructive criticism. Does the fact that it was made for an opening to an animation, and that this is a rough draft made so i could extend it change your opinion in any way or do you still feel the same?

Also thanks to everypony that is telling me they liked my song, that really does mean a lot, and thank you especially to those who subscribed, you guys really are the ones who make me want to continue making music and growing.

I agree with Thunder up there. Bit too simple, but I like it none the less :) Good work.

im seeing a pattern here lol i getcha, this is pretty early on in my music making career so improvment will always be needed i guess lol. But that you all the same for the constructive criticism (its just as easy to say "this is dumb and gay rabble-rabble-rabble argue-argue-argue") so thanks for taking the high road. Im also really happy to see that a lot of like it to some extent :D that fills me with happys!

I'm not a professional musician by any means, but here is what I think.

I won't claim to have perfect pitch, but it sounds G major-ish (with the beginning instrument (vibraphone?) playing the E and G). It does sound a bit repetitive, but really doesn't sound bad at all. Anything as simple as changing the chords would have added some variance. Moving a half step is pretty nifty, or changing the chord by moving the root to the fifth (essentially just removing a flat or adding a sharp). The real reason it sounds repetitive though is the moving line is the same every 2 bars. Before you even try changing the chords, you should just brainstorm melodies. The one you have is a great start! But for variety you should make at least it a 4 bar phrase. (I am personally a fan of 8 bar phrases, where the 1st and 2nd bar are repeated by bars 5 and 6, and the last 2 bars deviate from bars 3 and 4).

Same applies to the beat. It is a good beat, but it is always the same. The beat is the easiest thing to vary, since you don't have to worry about pesky pitches, but be sure to make it fit with the melody.

It is a great start! You just need to play with what you have and keep inventing new, creative ways to build off of what you already have! Here is a great example of a remix that takes a simple melody and builds off of it to sound absolutely amazing.

<a data-ipb="nomediaparse" href="

Note that the first minute is just the melody and/or the chords, though the musician behind it cleverly used variations to alter the sound. After that you get counter melodies, but the chord changes are always the same. :)
Edited by TheYoungMathProf
