@,

To be honest, Frost was a a tad bit surprised at the mare's reaction. He did his best to hide his surprise as she re-entered the studio, giving her a quick nod and a grin as he set to work hooking up his guitar to one of the amps in the room. The other two band members followed suit, making sure that the cables weren't in the way and that their amps were at a reasonable volume. "
Right, so it looks like we've got a small audience for this session." The gray pegasus winked at the mare, picking up his guitar and adjusting the strap, swinging it around. "Let's show this nice mare what Razorwing's about, shall we?" The younger white pegasus snorted, rolling her eyes. "Showoff," she muttered before picking up her own guitar and advancing towards the console in the center of the room, placing a small diskette into the slot.

What could be heard next was the tell-tale sound of a beginning metronome before a fast-paced percussion track began playing through the overhead speakers, Spikes Royale joining in with an equally fast bass riff to start things off. "
Ready!? Let's get it on!" What followed was Frost's own low, edgy guitar riff and Crossfade's long, drawn-out highs as the former prepared for the first verse.

"I've been thinking lots about my life and...how quick I'd wash it down the drain!
Past tense the future, nothing matters now!
I act on my own and I'm to blame!
Living's a wicked dream, where things turn out all wrong...
We're all so weak, no matter how strong, yeah~
"

A quick, eclectic drum segment later, and Frost was back on vocals once more, shredding along to the chorus.

"I tried running away from me,
Convince me that I've grown, but I can't change so unnaturally...
Demons they follow me!
I quit running away from me,
Convinced that I have grown, but found out:
All my reasons for insanity, all a part of me!
"

((Busy personal life and blatant irresponsibility have kept me away. But I'm back.))

Quite some time later, a mare had trotted nearby, over towards the host of the meet and greet, a small rhythm within her trots. Normally, this mare's ravishing forest green mane would be wild, uncouth, and for sure, messy. Though, this time it was amazingly in shape, not a single hair out of place. It almost resembled the mane that was trademarked by the classical gray mare, Octavia. Turth be told, she wasn't exactly wanting to emulate the same fashion, but it was in the sense of-- Okay, you get it, it's close.

"I'm sorry about that, Core... It's somewhat of a Pontera tradition for the band members to see who would have the most drinks of the night, and I had to down about three..." Accent Tap replied, shaking her head. "You know I would have left immediately, but they're having too much fun with a bunch of 12 packs on the balcony. How are the rest of the guests coming along?"

"No worries," Encore smiled, although he couldn't help a little impatient sigh. He shook his head, then smiled again, genuinely. "Hopefully you'll all be able to behave yourselves later?" He laughed. "The guests are coming along fine. I think mostly everypony's here now, but I want to give everypony a chance to acquaint themselves a little better before we announce the rules. Your buddies didn't happen to save any for me, did they?"

The other ponies in the room went their seperate ways. Octavia, who had been conversing with Vinyl and Riffraff, left loftily and trotted upstairs with her bass, looking for a room to practice her sonata in. She trotted past a few rooms, and glanced through the windows leading in. In one room, she saw a full band, rock or heavy metal by the looks of it, blasting away, yet she could not hear them. Encore had really gone full out with his soundproofing. Another soundproofed room looked like it had been partially converted to a storage closet, and such a room would be awful to gauge her intonation, and  the only other practice room on the hall had a pony standing in front of it. "Excuse me," Tavi said to the poni as she lugged her cello towards the open door.

"Knowing them, they would be swimming in it... They've promised to not get hung over too much before tomorrow, but... Oh well. I'll make sure to bug Jer later on saving some after the concert. I don't want my dear to miss out on the Bash just because he had one too many to gulp!" Accent joked, as she leaned over and gave Encore a quick peck on the cheek. "Say, that reminds me... Did you ever hire a stage manager? I don't even remember doing it..."

Meanwhile, as Flashdance was just about to head downstairs, she hears the sounds of another mare's voice, turning around to see the gray earth pony and to her, some odd instrument. "Yo! Uh... What in the world is that? Is it like, some giant acoustic bass or something? Or some silly thing from an orchestra?"

Fuck I accidently deleted this post... I will rewrite it in the morning. I edited this one instead of posting a new one by missclicking quote... Very sorry guys.

Summarizing everything, I ask if diamond sings a song for me, and octavia pushes me out of the way...

How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Three percent of the population likes classical music, if only we could get it up to four percent we'd be back in business and all our problems would be over." How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Everybody loves classical music! They just haven't found out about it yet!" It's an entirely different world. It's what you make of it that counts.

@@Scribblegroove,

Diamond sighed before shrugging. "Alright alright...lets ju-" She was cut off as a mare bumped right into Scribblegroove. Diamond stared at the mare as she walked off towards the recording studio. "Never knew, Octavia would be this rude." She mumbled, barely enough for even Scribblegroove to hear. "Lets just go find another one before somepony else does." She said, glancing over at the other recording studio to see a whole band playing away. It was muffled but Diamond could make out some...rock was it? Her ears lowered against her head and she looked away...she wasn't much of a metal fan.

@,

Rhythm listened to them play, sitting in the corner patiently. Metal had never been her kinda music, but she didn't mind it and had to admit that what these ponies were playing was rather catchy...it also had a pretty cool tune and all she could think about were remixes.

By her expression alone Amber seemed to be taking it all to the chest, not even turning back to face Flash as she walked up towards the recording studio. That stallion was a hot mess; vulnerable one second, volatile the next. Sure, he’d find a nice mare one day that could deal with his vast complications and dysfunctions, but she wasn't going to be her out of pity. However, this didn't mean she was completely heartless. Quite the contrary, she hated herself for what she did.

Rhythm wasn't a pony you could sum up in one word. While Amber appreciated simplicity in a pony there’s got to be something said for those who bring a bit more colour into your life. It was more than just complexity for the sake of complexity, it’s a new and different journey. By Celestia, her mother was still wearing off on her even in thought. Look at all these long words she didn't understand. It’s hard to keep a persona when you've been raised to some so-called “educate”.

The more Amber thought of these big words the more her head hurt, or maybe it was just the migraine. By the time she’d actually become aware of her surroundings she was already standing outside the recording studio while some pony was murdering some poor guitar, as with most rock music these days. Maybe if she remixed it…  No, back on track. Music was a nice escape but this really wasn't the time.

Nearing the source of the commotion Amber was very surprised to find Rhythm nearby. She hadn't taken her for a secret metal head, each to her own I guess. Taking a reassuring deep breath she walked up just behind her, opening her mouth as if to say something but nothing came out. Amber felt like she’d just seized up, all of her limbs fixing to the ground.

‘What would she think of me?’

Well, she’d probably be angry, say I'm stupid a bit and then…  Actually I'm not too sure. This was all a bit out of her comfort zone, which was surprising considering her comfort zone was large enough to be classed as a small moon. Well, here goes nothing.

“H-hey Rhythm.” Her voice cracked in a way that reminded her of a thirteen year old colt, covering her mouth in slight embarrassment. “What’s up?” Could have been worse I guess.

"Oh, that won't be nescesary, we were here first." He said to diamomd. He the caught up with who appeared to be oxtavia, since he now saw her cutie mark. He hesitated a little. He had a great apprrciation for her work, but on the other hand, his ego and pride were too big to just let this slip...

"Octavia I presume? The famous ciellist?" He said as he stepped in front of her. "I am afraid that I must insist... you can wait for us to finish." He said as he stepped in front of the open door of the empty recording studio. "This mare has finally agreed to sign one of my songs, so I will not wait for whatever you were planning to do in this room." He said, talkimg the famous ciellist down. Yes, she might be talented, but she was not of the expertise that he was. Who else could compose jazz and classical music in the blink of an eye...

"Will you come inside Diamond? We can proceed now..." He said. He used his magic to open the gates for the four orchestrea microphones they were going to use for him, and the studio mic for Diamond, and hover the sheets inside, placing them on a stand.

@@Scribblegroove,

Blushing a bit, Diamond walked past Octavia, whispering. "We wont be long...I promise..." She said, not wanting her nor Scribblegroove to anger the mare as she followed the colt into the studio, using her magic to flick on the lights and equipment. "Alright then..." She said, walking up to the mic and clearing her throat.

@,

@@The-Master,

Rhythm looked up at Amber, barely able to hear her over the loud metal. She got up to her hooves and gave Frost a wave, gesturing to Amber, trying to tell him that she'll just be a second before taking Amber's hoof and leading her a little ways away from the loud music. "Hi...everything okay?" She asked, doing her best to be friendly, obviously having no idea what had happened between Amber and Flash.

No, everything thing was not okay. Was that what she was supposed to say? A bit blunt maybe? At least she could think a bit clearer without that rock music. "Oh, right. Um...  everything's fine." Amber instantly regretted her statement. "No no, that was a lie sorry." She cleared her throat, resisting the urge ti stamp the ground. "I- I screwed up. I thought that...  I felt sorry for him. I forgot that he was so vulnerable and..."

The next part was more difficult than she imagined. Her eyes were beginning to well up, and in an act of emotion leaned out and brought Rhythm into a tight hug, no willing to let her go. "I'm sorry...  I kissed him, and it was wrong. I might have even lost him as a friend, but I don't want to lose you." She mentally kicked herself for being so forward. It was that kind of thing that got her in this mess in the first place. At this point she was soaking the poor mare's shoulder in her tears. This wasn't a very comfortable position for her. "Please don't hate me for it."
