, ((OOC: Or whoever is in control over the castle and the ponies therein. Somepony is knocking on your back door...or side door, I don't know.))

 

River studied Patterson's injuries with tears streaming down her face. His wounds were severe, even with his nanite healing factor. He had two large stab wounds in his abdomen and some broken ribs. She didn't know what to do, or even if Patterson would survive much longer. She picked him up very carefully with her telekinesis, making sure to stir him as little as possible, and carried him deeper into the cave. The passage got thinner and thinner, until they finally reached a dead end. River set Pat down and lay down next to him. As far as she knew, there was nopony for miles to go to, so she lay there just hoping that he'd pull through.

 

Suddenly, River saw a little spec of light, seemingly coming from the wall in the back of the cave. She got up and went over to where it was coming from. She was stopped by what seemed to be the wall, but when she felt it, it didn't feel like the rocky cave wall. She felt around the edges and, using her telekinesis, she grabs the entire section of the wall and moves it out of the way. It was just a facade covering up a short passage. And there, at the end, was a wooden door, which was where the speck of light was seeping through. 

 

River immediately beamed with hope, picked up Patterson, ran up to the door, and practically banged the door down, praying for somepony to answer.

Firelight and Sky nodded in gratitude toward Shadow. They moved toward one of the wooden doors and pushed it open. Firelight paused and perked his ears up, tilting his head. "What is it?" Sky asked. Firelight shook his head and said "Shh!" There was more silence until he said "Do you hear that?" "What?" asked Sky nervously. "Go in the room and wait for me." he instructed. She nodded and obeyed. Firelight shut the door and quietly trotted down the corridor.

"Oh... uh, I..." She blushed a little at his request, and smiled. "Of course I will..." She nodded.

 

She leaned against Renegade as they trotted out of the medical ward. She wasn't sure who to ask, but she wondered where they were able to get some rest. The castle was complicated, and they sorely needed rest.

Renegade blushed as she leaned on him,he looked around and asked a guard where they were supposed to sleep,he directed them to the area and he smiled,he looked at Ambiance a moment before laying down with her,he looked around a moment before looking into the eyes of Ambiance,he blushed over time as he kept gazing,his smile was slowly fading,but his eyes gleamed,he slowly pulled her in and closed his eyes as they cuddled.

Solar was walking back towards her room when she heard the pounding on the door a few guards were ready with their spears. Solar used her magic to open the door slowly, gasping when she saw the sight before her. "Dear Celestia...guards get that pony to the medical wing right away." One of the unicorn guards levitated him away and into surgery right away. "Please come in and calm yourself we'll do what we can for him. Can I ask who you are and how you found this place?" Solar was being as nice as possible but hidden under her cloak was a small enchanted dagger ready. She didn't know who these ponies were but they could be useful if need be, and disposable if they proved a problem.

As soon as Renegade heard the knocks,he was up,at the door,he watched the pony be levitated away,he then saw Solar,he stared at her and the other pony,he narrowed his eyes slightly before slowly walking up to Solar and asking,"I'm sorry my mare...but,I need to take you away from this pony for a second...if you can...All I need is my armor,weapons,and my helmet...as well as my insignia..."he said,looking in her eyes.

As soon as the door opened in front of her, and she saw the many faces looking at her, she lifted Patterson up and through her tears said,

 

River: "Please... please help my brother. He's been badly wounded."

 

She didn't even care about the spears pointed at her. When she was welcomed in and questioned, she replied awkwardly,

 

"We...we were fleeing, and... we decided to take refuge in that cave. But, when we got to the top, a... Peacekeeper g-general jumped out and attacked us. My brother defended me valiantly against him, ...but, I was afraid. Then, the general got the better of Pat and almost killed him, I-I-I just couldn't let that happen, so... I ...k-killed the general... And that's when I took Pat further back into the cave, because there was nowhere else to go, and I found your hidden door."

Solar listed to the mares tale of what happened, and it bothered her not the fact that they had managed to find her stronghold, but more so the fact that the military was getting gutsier and more adventurous into the Dark Valley. "Shhh be calm we'll take good care of him and make sure that he's treated you have my word. If you'd like you can wait in the room over in that hall, and I'll have a guard come tend to you when he's able. If you'll excuse me." Solar excused herself and motioned for Renegade to step outside with her. "You seem to know that mare Renegade there wouldn't have been a reason for you to pull me aside unless it was important so what's this about?"

 

(Sorry for being so late guys my jobs been really up and down in terms of hours lately working a lot of mornings and mid shifts.)

Firelight walked silently down the hall through the gloom. He listened to the voices coming from around the corner. He stopped to peek around the corner and listen. There were two newcomers in the front hall. A stallion and a mare. He watched as Solar Starlight spoke to them and welcomed them to the castle. He snuck back the way he came, thinking about the prospect of new allies.

Renegade shook his head and said,"No,I don't know her...but...she feels...important...like I should protect her,as well as you and everyone else here...but...she is..."he looked away and tried to find the words to describe the feeling,but was at a loss,he then looked back and said,"I just...I want my things back,by now they are probably obliterated..."he sighed softly,looking away,his bright blue eyes shining in the dim light.

River was really worried about Pat, and wanted to be with him, but being as shy as she was, she did not want to argue and she walked down the hall to the room that was pointed out to her. She opened the door, went inside, and sat down, waiting for the guard to come.

 

Now that she had finally settled down, after their house being destroyed, and running away, and then the fight, she could not contain herself any longer, and she burst out crying. They could no longer go home, ponies had tried to kill them, now Patterson was in bad condition, and she... had killed somepony. All the stress from these events had finally caught up to her, and it was too much to contain. And now Pat wasn't there to comfort her.

Renegade left the room, and a chill ran through Ambiance, causing her to shiver. She heard some commotion, and a faint, familiar sound.

 

Somepony was crying. She got out of the room, and wandered, the sound was approaching.

 

She creaked open the door to see River, crying.

 

"U-um... a-are y-you okay?"

River looked up from her sobbing to see the mare standing in the doorway.

 

River: "I just *sniff* need a moment to calm down. I have been through alot, and I haven't had a *sniff* chance to let it all out."

 

And she laid her head back down and cried softly, now feeling a little embarrassed.

She looked at the teary mare.  She did her best to offer her comfort, wrapping her hooves around her. She, unfortunately, knew where she was coming from.

 

"Shhhh... I-it's okay... Y-you'll be fine.."

 

She thought about the past few days to herself. It had been stressful. She never thought the world had come to this. She began to cry as well.

Renegade heard the crying and he walked off from the mare after she gave him the verdict,he slowly trotted up to the door and looked in.

He sighed softly as he saw the two mares crying together and he slowly trotted in,softly placing his hoof on their shoulders,he sat in the middle of them and held them tight,he didn't care who this other mare was,all he knew,is she was sad,and he knew that feeling...

Firelight got back to his room and pushed open the door. He was still thinking about the new arrivals. He was finding it hard to trust anypony new, but if the princess was okay with it then he would clam up and be quiet. They might even prove useful. but then again they could endanger all of them. Sky was asleep on the bed already, looking so peaceful. he gently crawled up to lie next to her and pull her in close. Stirred for a moment and looked at him with bleary eyes. He whispered sweet nothings into her ear and she smiled and fell back asleep. He kissed her forehead and snuggled closer.

Okay, now was just getting awkward. First some mare, whom she didn't know, came in and started crying right along with her, and now a strange stallion was hugging them both. River did not know how to react. Maybe he was only trying to comfort her, but she still didn't exactly know if she could trust him. Just like everypony else in this world.

 

River whimpered, she wanted Pat. She carefully tried to push the stallions arm away.

 

River: "Please, I don't even know you. Could you...just..."

 

She began sobbing again.

Her stutter was blatently obvious. She tried to hide it, but it didn't work.

She tried to go, but didn't want to leave her crying like this. She broke Renegade away from her.

Oh no. River looked up at the mare who was trying to leave. She didn't want to hurt her.

 

River: "Wait. Please... I'm sorry, it's not your fault. It's just... I haven't really been able to  trust anyone... pretty much my entire life. And right now the one pony whom I have trusted almost my whole life, is not here to help me. And I don't know what to do."

Solar watched as Renegade walked off and went to help the new mare that brought her wounded companion in. She then whistled and a black unicorn mare wearing loose black armor stepped out. "Yes my lady?" "I want you to keep an eye on the two new ponies that managed to find our castle. But as always please be very decrepit about it would you."  The black mare vanished instantly into the shadows, she wanted to trust them but right now the only ones she knew she could trust for sure were the ones that Shadow brought in.

Renegade stared from one mare to another,his shocked expression then turned hard and cold,he stared at Ambiance for a few seconds coldly before walking away silently,he closed the door behind him and looked for something to take his rejection out on,he fund training dummies and started punching them and kicking them,using all he had not to yell,but he couldn't,it was in his blood to yell when fighting,even if just on a training dummy,the door was closed,but it was still in the air waves faintly,his yelling of battle as he took out his anger on the dummies,he then did a very hard and fast spin kick into the side of the dummy and it broke off it's thick stick,he growled as he pounced on top of it and started punching it in the face more,he looked...vicious...like a wild,speratic animal...born to kill...

She listened as Renegade began to rage. She didn't realize what she did. She ran as quickly as possible to where Renegade was. She saw him taking out ubsurd amounts of rage on the lifeless dummy.

 

She was frightened by him. She stared at him with wide, frightened eyes.

 

"I-i..." She began to cry.

Renegade sat there,on top of the lifeless dummy,he was breathing heavy before tears started welling in his eyes,he put his hooves over his face and said out loud,"All I wanted to do is help somepony..."he said in a broken voice,he shook his head slowly before he even noticed Ambiance,he stared at her a few seconds,tears streaming down his cheeks,he slowly got up and started his way over to her,quiet.

River watched as the stallion stormed off, and the mare followed after.

 

River: 'Oh no. What have I done. *sob* I never wanted to hurt anypony'

 

She thought. She had let her shyness get the better of her again. Now she felt worse than she had before.

Everything began to come into focus as Patterson slowly regained consciousness. He felt groggy and weak as he slowly opened his eyes. He moaned and tried to move but was immediately met with a sharp pain. Then he began to realize where he was. He was in a brightly lit room lying on a table. He began to panic as soon as he saw other ponies in the room.

 

Pat: "WHO ARE YOU?!! WHERE AM I?!! What are you doing?!... 'Oh no' Where is River?!!... RIVER!!!

Renegade slowly approached her. She was still a little frightened by him, and was cowering, crying with her head between her hooves. She trembled a little.

 

This is what the world is like; violent. Angry.

 

No matter. She was far from home now. There was no going back. She willed herself to get up, to no avail. She just continued to tremble and cry.
