Which 26 episodes from all 3 1/2 seasons 5 and a half seasons would you take and make up the one definitive MLP season with? Megas 28,119 February 9, 2014 Share February 9, 2014 I mostly agree with your list but I would have Magical Mystery Cure as the finale To tell you the truth I put the The Best Night Ever because it was my favorite finale. That said there were still a lot of episodes I wanted to include(Last Roundup and May The Best Pet Win especially come to mind)
duidamasterXD 9,627 February 9, 2014 Share February 9, 2014 (edited) Friendship is Magic 1 and 2 You kind of need these Applebuck Season Solid Applejack episode and will help us get to know the Mane Six better as a whole Call of the Cutie Needed to introduce CMC Mysterious Mare Do Well Having it earlier on will make it feel less out of place, and it's a good Dash episode. Green Isn’t Your Color Gives Rarity and Fluttershy and their relationship some time time to shine, and an episode about open communication and talking to your friends about your problems would be most welcome after Mare Do Well Winter Wrap Up Great song, great Twilight episode, a little worldbuilding, gives all of the Mane Six a little time in the sun, perfect. The Cutie Mark Chronicles Gives the CMC some screentime, good backstory for the Mane Six, perfect. Sonic Rainboom Dash insecurities and the payoff of seeing her overcome them. Having it take place after Cutie Mark Chronicles also reinforces the thoughts hanging in her mind that her greatest accomplishment might've been a fluke. Suited For Success Perfect Rarity episode, sets up for the Gala later, and will hopefully wash away and bad impressions people got of her from Sonic Rainboom. Party of One Great Pinkie episode, sets up her insecurities at being left behind and abandoned, for later use. Lesson Zero Good Twilight episode about her anxieties how her friends have her back Sisterhooves Social Sweetie Belle episode, also gives Rarity a lot of great screentime and portrays her fantastically in the end. Very relatable for people with siblings, also gives AJ and Apple Bloom some time in the sun and good characterization. A must. Stare Master Gives the CMC some more attention and gives us a protective and motherly Fluttershy which is good development for her. Luna Eclipsed Good Twilight episode, great visually, fits everyone but Rarity into the episode seamlessly, sets aside Luna for later use. Secret of My Excess Gives Spike some well-needed and deserved screentime as well as giving Rarity some time with him as well. Pinkie Pride Pinkie's insecurities from Party of One will be fresh in everyone's mind, lots of great music, and possibly the best Pinkie episode. Hurricane Fluttershy Best episode, development for Flutters, showcases Dash's development and ability to be sensitive when the situation calls for it. Return of Harmony 1 and 2 You don't need these, but I feel it'd be a shame to exclude them anyway. Showcases the bond between the Mane Six while managing to be very epic at the same time. Sleepless in Ponyville Scootaloo episode, second best episode, showcases more of Dash's newfound maturity, more of how far Luna's come since the first episodes and Luna Eclipsed, I can't leave it out. The Last Roundup Wonderful Applejack episode that shows how important she is to her friends and family. Wonderbolt Academy Payoff of Dash's growth Rarity Takes Manehattan Good Rarity episode that used all the Mane Six pretty well too. Pinkie Apple Pie Gives AJ and Pinkie some time together, gives us a great song, gives AJ's family some attention, seems like a solid choice. The Best Night Ever Great Mane Six episode, the only finale that would conclude the series in a halfway satisfying manner. Well, that's the best I got. May have given too much weight to Dash's arc and feels like Spike should've been shown more love (though the series itself could stand to do that too ). The CMC also feel out of place since there's no real payoff for what they're working towards, and it focuses more on their relationships with their families than actual Cutie Mark Crusading. Trying to put them in a sensible order was kinda tricky too. Oh well. I tried, and I think I did about as good as I'm able. Might try to watch the episodes in this order sometime. GuillermoGage 246 August 15, 2014 Share August 15, 2014 I totally could not do this. I can't even trim down the episode count to half. I believe that is a testament to how good this cartoon is, compared to many other cartoons of its category in which only like, every other episode is entertaining. I I had to erase from existence as many episodes that I could, while still maintaining the core spirit of the series, I would get rid of episodes that don't really contribute much to the memorable tone, lessons, and lore of the series. The episodes would be: Griffon the Brush-Off, Swarm of Century, Stare Master, Dog and Pony Show, Bird in the Hoof, Party of One, Mare-Do-Well, Last Roundup, Hearts and Hooves Day, It's About Time, Ponyville Confidential, MMMystery on Friendship Express, Spike at Your Service,Just For Sidekicks, Games Ponies Play, maybe Castle-mania , perhaps Daring Don't, and then definitely Power Ponies, Simple Ways, Fill Vanilli, Somepony to Watch Over Me, and Trade Ya! This list classifies twenty episodes as non-essential episodes that definitely could have never been aired and the quality reputation of the FiM cartoon would be kept intact if not better than with these episodes, as much as fans like some of these episodes for their "crazy pony" moments. Coincidentally, this list nearly trims The seasons down to twenty episodes for the Seasons 1 and 2, and 4, and 10 episodes for seasons 3. I had been considering docking off Too Many Pinkie Pies as a non-essential episode for its magical weirdness, and semingly pointless moral for real life, but then thought about FOMO, tha concept of fear of missing out, and realized that, rather than the moral of TMPP being pointless in a non-saccharine world of modern day humans... that the opposite is true. The lesson is still relevant for today's society even in our world, as much of an exaggeration is made of it when being portrayed by Pinkie Pie clones in the context of the social lives of everyday regular people in our world. So yeah... find myself docking off 20 episodes, maybe 22 if Castle-Mane-ia and Daring Don't are just throwaway, fan-pandering cartoony episodes... I've only see Casltemane-ia once and Daring Don't Twice... and am not so sure about them. If someone forced me to peg it down to 26 episodes, I'd just take my s1 episodes and replace the six reject episodes with both S2 two-parters and then Luna Eclipsed and Sweet and Elite.... or mabe one of those would be Hearth's Warming Eve. This whole strict "one season, 26 episodes" idea is too disturbing. I have become accustomed to this show having so many great moments that it would be preposterous to retroactively produce only a coupke dozen episodes of this show... FiM has an innate beauty to it; it was always destined to have like, last at least like, two to three times longer than some short-running series like Invader Zim, and that's just if you discounted the bottom 25th percentile of FiM episodes and retroactively ever wrote them, in some effort to retroactively give FiM some more perfect track record for the history books, in terms of episode quality. Subscriber Denim&Venöm 20,459 August 15, 2014 Author Subscriber Share August 15, 2014 Every now and I again when I'm bored at work, I find myself thinking about this. Probably my order. 1-2. Return of NMM 3. Ticket Master 4. Applebuck season 5. Suited for succsess 6. Party of one 7.. Call of the cutie 8. Cutiemark Chronicles 9. Sonic Rainboom 10-11. Return to Harmony 12. Lesson Zero 13. Luna Eclipsed 14. Secret of my excess 15. Putting Your hoof down 16-17. Canterlot Wedding 1-2 18. Too many Pinkie Pies 19. Sleepless in Ponyville 20. Wonderbolts Acedemy 21. Keep Calm & flutter On 22. Magical Mystery Cure 23. For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils 24. Testing Testing 1,2,3 25. Flight to the finish 26. Twilight Time tough call cutting this down. Made sure to cut out the non essentials like Trixie, Zecora, the crystal empire or the key episodes. Also made sure to give all the characters equal exposure. As much as I would like magical mystery cure to be the end, the other episodes wouldn't make sense before it. Twilight time works as an ending as it finalizes Twi's role as a mentor figure now and hints at the CMC's growth as characters.
