I_wesley125 393 March 8, 2012 Share March 8, 2012 Currently i have no reasonable explanation for this, but WHENEVER my land phone rings flash player crashes on all of my devices, I went out and got a new phone(a CORDED one) so its not wireless interference, My phone is not even on the same ISP(phone is telus, internet is Shaw) Even when i connect my Android to 3g instead of WIFI it still happens as long as I'm inside my house, this has been going on for about a week (Nothing was changed since then, I'm the only one who can change the network settings as my family is retarded with computers, they don't even know how to login to the router). This is soooo my family, once my mom thought the computer broke when the monitor was just turned off... As for the flash player issue, it may be the ethernet cabling interfering with your landline within the walls of your house or something. Otherwise that I'm pretty dumbfounded at the issue. How close is the nearest landline phone to the affected devices? Do all of your devices have a microphone either built in or attached to the device? Do you have anything that may 'bridge the gap' between your phone network and your data network (for example, a USB fax machine, network attached DVR, etc)? What type of modem do you have (DSL, Cable, Satellite, etc)? If it's a DSL, does it run off the same phone line as your phones, or is it on an alternative line? Do you have any devices that connect via wired ethernet? If so, do they experience this problem? Edit: More questions/a few things to try When you switch your phone from WiFi to 3G, do you turn off WiFi? Is Bluetooth on? Does your phone have a ringer volume button? If so, those buttons will usually play the ring tone, even though no one is calling. Try that, if it works, what happens on the computer? Does your phone have a "page" or "find handset" button? What happens when you press that? Disconnect all landline phones in the house, and then try calling your number. What happens? It's rather quiet, and you only hear it if your sitting right there with the sound all the way up. My husband thinks I have some latent ESP because I usually say something like "My phone's about to ring" or "Somebody wants to talk to me" LOL Thank you Sparklefan1234!!! That renders useless a number of my questions, but still a few linger: Does your computer have a microphone or some form of audio capture? Flash player is capable of pulling audio/video from a webcam or microphone. If you're consistently on the same site/sites, and the Flash applications are ones that access an audio input, it could be possible that Flash is hearing the phone ring (literally), which triggers some block of code in the application, which causes the crash. A bit farfetched, I know, but this is a bizarre problem in itself, so I figured it's worth asking. What type of modem do you have? If it's a DSL, and the DSL is connected to the same line as your phone, then it's possible that the incoming ring voltage could be interfering with the modem. If you're using Flash to stream audio or video, this interruption may be enough to cause issues. What happens when you unplug the phone and call your number from a cell phone? This one is all about narrowing the scope, doing this test should rule out one or two possible causes, which leaves fewer possible causes to worry about. Is there anything else, other than the corded phone, that could possibly be connected to your landline? If you have a fax machine or DVR on your network and phone line, it's possible that one of those devices could be sending out notifications of incoming calls. New question - it sounds like you have more than one computer. Have your tried shutting all but one of them off, and then calling? Again, narrowing of scope.
