God, do I love absolutely love Final Fantasy!

I love the Nova Fabula Chrystallis series so much!

So, I've played and beaten FFXIII and FFXIII-2 on hard difficulty three times. Now, as most Final Fantasy fans know, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII was just released! I have yet to play it (hopefully I willl buy it soon), but I have played the demo, and I have to say it looks so much EPIC !

Finally someone else who actually appreciates them for what they are! :yay:

I've actually bought the pre-order edition for Lightning Returns and I'm saving it for my birthday ;)

I still haven't beaten XIII-2 yet. I'm only at the beginning of the game.

Still, the demo for LR was good but EXTREMELY short. Really doesn't give you much of a feel for the game, especially for how much I've heard about it on another forum.

Does it look, play, sound and feel exactly like Final Fantasy IV? That's why. :P

I, for one, thought the early days of the series were kinda boring.

I don't think it was until about IV and onwards 'till they started to get really fun ^_^

The battles are really different, so it's a new turn for final fantasy.

Oh no... a Final Fantasy XIII thread. Flamewar commencing in 3... 2... 1

In all seriousness I'm a Final Fantasy fan myself. Like @AppleGearRising said, I usually appreciate the games for what they are - or rather, for the vast amounts of change between the games. I enjoyed XIII and loved XIII-2 (the latter being my second favourite of the series), so I'm tentatively looking forward to this game.

I haven't even played 4 (okay I did play about half of it) and 5 yet. It's not that they are unavailable but when it comes to RPGs I generally don't go for Final Fantasy first.

Then who do you go to for RPGs? Dark Souls? Phantasy Star? Persona? Dungeons & Dragons?

Cthulhu Saves the World? :okiedokielokie: :)

 But seriously who is your first choice when going for RPGs?

To be fair there are quality rpgs that aren't Final Fantasy. Take for instance the first rpg I ever played; Skies of Arcadia. :)

I don't generally have any particular series I go for more than another so it's not so much that I pick some other game or franchise over FF so much as it just comes down to what I feel like getting at the time and FF just happens to not be it at those times.

Although Shin Megami Tensei tends to take priority and if they ever made another Wild Arms (which I'm a gigantic fanboy for) I would jump on it immediately.

There's a LOT of RPGs out there and to single my purchases down to any single franchise is madness.

Most of the RPGs I would get sooner than others aren't really running anymore like Baten Kaitos and Wild Arms.

There's always a chance these games might get sequels but it's a really, really slim chance. There's been rumors of both WA6 (which was supposedly announced one year but we never saw anything of it ever again) and BK3 but they're probably vaporware at this point.

Yeah there are tons of them out there. There are tons of games that get announced but never released. The world may never know if they would have been good or not.

Think about all the games/different version of a game that could have been able to be played if only they would release them.

But not a lot of people actually hate on Lightning Returns, I mean IGN and a lot of gaming networks actually think it looks really epic!

As much as I rely on IGN to make good calls this time they gave Lightning Returns a 7 out of 10. They gave FF13 8.9 and 13-2 8 making LR the lowest scoring one of the lot by their standards :/

IGN can be full of idiots sometimes, but they did say it looks good

They did. They just sounded a little taken aback by how little sense the plot seemed to make. A bunch of wimps if you ask me; I eat mindfuck plots for breakfast

Oh, I know. I don't actually have a problem with people criticizing it at all - it's just that a rather vocal minority of the FF fanbase doesn't seem to be able to tolerate people having different opinions in my experience.

I know some people who are raging at the fact that the creator of LR is calling this game their "magnum opus" even though it only gets around a 7. Last I checked numbered rating systems are broken as fuck anyway so if one feels like this is their best game ever why should they be denied that?

You have no idea until you've seen a 6 versus 7 debate, boy does that shit get heated! >_<

Oh boy, I have. There was actually a guy who wrote a very long and detailed post on the FF Wiki detailing why he did not like FF6. Now, I didn't agree with everything he said, but his piece was well written and wasn't antagonistic in any way.

... pretty much everyone accused him of trolling and generally acted like numbskulls. It was kinda sad actually. Obviously, the whole fandom isn't like this. Personally, I find that fandom conduct tends to differ not so much based on the fandom itself but on the individual sites where discussions take place (e.g Youtube and 4chan get the worst of everything).

Eh, I'm more of a FF7 guy than FF6. I think FF3 and 4 were pretty legit.
