“CMC: The Next Generation” is a fanfic that needs more attention. The amount of effort put into writing a story like this deserves praise, even if I personally disagree with some of the choices it makes.

I would like to believe that they can, the problem is they've shown a pattern that tells us otherwise. Sunset, Starlight and Discord have made a genuine effort to make amends, but Tirek and Chrysalis did not, and that's why they ended up getting turned to stone, a severe punishment even for a show as whimsical as My Little Pony, yes, which is why people got angry about Cozy Glow sharing the same fate despite her being a juvenile pony, why couldn't they just remove her magic then send her to a rehab center? turning a child to stone as punishment, even in a circumstance where they became a threat, is a bit extreme.

 But I also see the other side of this, having statues of offenders in Equestria sends out a clear message that they do not tolerate aggression. which I think is fair. What would you do, if you were in that fantasy world? at least being turned to stone they have the possibility of reform at a later time, which is preferable to say, execution, which would be too dark MLP FIM. When all other attempts of de-escalating a situation have been exhausted or are not practical, a difficult choice needs to be made, actions have consequences and not everything can be fixed without violence.
