I never did in my dojo years ago. We had wooden planks, those bags that hang form the ceiling that you kick, and pads. No sand bags though. @Raskolnikov Can be summoned form a pad.

That shirt that he's wearing is just a camp shirt that everyone has, your states is based on your robe color. No robes mean that you're just a probatio, white means that you're a centurion, and purple means that you're one of two praetors

Okay. But only those of the upper echelons of Roman society could afford to buy purple die for their clothes. Is the series based in some historical events or is it pure fiction?

Its Heroes of Olympus so both, technically because Rick Riordan based it off of the stories of Roman mythology and history.

Camp Jupiter is like a military camp Roman style and their shirts were probably a blessing from Minera or something, every camper just has a purple shirt weather they're in the 5th (lowest) or 1st (highest) cohort
