Khaoios 1,970 April 12, 2014 Share April 12, 2014 Spongebob did it for the last fifteen years, I think FiM can too. They just need to expand the show's horizons. Add more main characters, new locations, explore the realms of magic and what it can truly do... The show is only as limited as the creators make it. Exaclty this............I have a hunch MLP:FIM will go further, if the fandom keeps up and growing, IMO. Not to mention, Hasbro is getting big bucks for this so the more fans are drawn into the shop and fandom, the more money Hasbro gets but continuing the series. Mr. White 71 April 12, 2014 Share April 12, 2014 (edited) Considering how vague the phrasing is, it could mean absolutely anything. They didn't even specify that they were talking about the show, as opposed to, say, the merch, or really anything branded as My Little Pony. Zekromic 1,054 April 12, 2014 Share April 12, 2014 That's a very vague information. It does not necesarily mean we'll get 5 more seasons, we might get other stuff expanding FIM, like a spin-off series (I WANT BABS), or an actual movie with ponies, not their human counterparts, I dunno
Java Jive 440 April 12, 2014 Share April 12, 2014 Definitely expect a few more seasons at the very least. It is their flagship series and it's getting more widespread attention, with things not slowing down and all... As for it staying fresh, i know the true targeted audience would be problematic in this case, but i wish the stakes would be made a bit higher and it entering a more serious phase for a while wouldn't hurt. There's room for epic stories of betrayal, corruption, conquest, sacrifice etc etc... The "slice of life" model wont hold up for that long, much like the Simpsons after the 10th season. It actually got good when the show got a bit darker. Show some aging and some responsibility falling on the shoulders of new generations in the future. Season openers/endings fall into that category, wish there would be more of them. A season long story arc would be pretty ambitious and interesting. Like, just suppose, Twilight takes on too much responsibility/power, becomes corrupted for some powerful and characteristic reason, turns against the cast and is redeemed at the end, experiencing first hand that being a princess is not that easy and not just a title, as Celestia has learned in the past, of which much is hidden. Add some weight and real emotion to it! Aside that... What they should prevent is things like, for example, RD training to become a Wonderbolt until the series finally ends. Characters are more interesting when they move on in life, it doesn't mean they have to leave the cast because of it. And not everything has to have a happy ending. Good does not always have to prevail. There's loads of things (in the right hands) you can do to prevent MLP from rusting. Show some more vistas, even outside Equestria, explore the cultures of Equestria's allies and enemies, delve deeper into the more mysterious and forbidden sides of magic, do more with the past and show what made the world that it is... I could go on and on. Let's go downtown.
Silver Letter 1,832 April 12, 2014 Share April 12, 2014 (edited) As many of you might be aware of by now, Hasbro confirmed a while back that their '' My Little Pony'' franchise would last another ''5 years'' but other than that statement there has been little to no confirmation on what exactly that entails. With Season 4 coming to a close and Season 5 on the horizon, I question just how much more they can actually stretch the story before it becomes 'forced'' rather than natural. Most of the characters are already close to fulfilling their dreams and the gag about the CMC is starting to get old. With that out of the way, what evidence do we have that the above statement means that the Show itself will last another 5 years and not just the toy line. Trust me I don't want the show to end, but I also don't want to believe something only to be disappointed later on, especially when that statement is so vague. Hasbro never said ''5 more years of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic'' they only said ''5 more years of Mlp'' that could easily mean the toyline and not the show, as I have a strong feeling that the show could easily finish up its story arch next season. I don't understand why My Little Pony would ever end. It should go on indefinitely in various shows, I would think. Friendship is Magic should conclude soon if they are going to introduce a new show. I just think it's sad because if we lose MLP then children years from now won't have it in their lives. I think a more interesting idea would be pushing the narrative ahead about five years, to where Twilight had began to fulfill the role of teacher and mentor to a younger, ambitious pony. But unlike Celestia, Twilight is unable to install the right lessons of friendship and good will and other such things in her student. Eventually, she and the student starts to drift apart and eventually she makes a serious mistake in the quest for privilege or power or something and is eventually removed from her position. Twilight would learn of the difficulties of being a mentor in particular and has to make the difficult choice of banishing her former student because she is so dangerous. Forlong 1,726 April 12, 2014 Share April 12, 2014 I still like Spongebob though... Referencing the few long runners that are known to be bad is just ridiculous. What about all the long runners that remained good? "Auqa Teen Hunger Force" "Arthur" "Cheers" "Claymore" "CSI" "Dragonball" "The Fairly Odd Parents" "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids" "Gundam" "Lassie" "Power Rangers" "Rugrats" "South Park" "Stargate SG-1" "Star Trek" "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" And there are probably a lot more. Yes, long runners can go bad, but that is strictly the minority of them. Ianpiersonjdavis 514 April 13, 2014 Share April 13, 2014 (edited) Well, Season 3 ended in February of 2013 and Season 4 didn't begin until November that's at least eight months-over half a year between seasons, so there's also the possibility that more gaps like that could open up in the future. Between the first and second seasons there was a three month wait in between; May-September And the wait between the second and third seasons were five months; April-November So, by 'five more' years they could easily mean the total production period in addition to the run of the show itself, assuming they were only referring to G4.
