Zecora vs Alicorn Amulet Trixie

Who would win? Zecora has magical talent that probably even rivals Twilight Sparkle, and she's also wise enough to use non magical means to achieve victory, and has an extensive knowledge of working with various plants. Trixie is Trixie, and ended up getting the Alicorn Amulet back.

 

We don't get to see much of Zecora's magical talent at work, but I think she MIGHT have a chance. Her magic probably isn't as strong, but she doesn't survive in the Everfree Forest for nothing. And Zebra magic is pretty mysterious.

 

I have a theory that the reason Zecora trained Twilight Sparkle to beat Trixie, instead of stepping in herself, was to teach Twilight an important lesson about friendship (and by extension, teach Trixie a lesson as well).

I think what Zecora has as an advantage over Twilight or Trixie is wisdom. All the lessons they're going through, it's implied she's already gotten them all down. Lauren herself stated that Zecora was intended to be another mentor within the show and would have had an expanded role if she'd had her way, and while she doesn't often appear nowadays she still typically fills that archetype when she shows up. Her brews do some crazy stuff that it seems pony magic doesn't have the ability to.

 

That said, her magic is all brews. Meaning, she most likely isn't actually as capable as a combatant. She has to prepare her full arsenal ahead of time, lug them around in bottles, drink them in battle. The bottles could be broken, she'd be vulnerable while drinking, and so far we haven't seen a single effect from the things that are actually useful in a duel or the like. She seems to be the sort of alchemist who makes things that support others. Hence why she helps Twilight rather than doing the job herself.

Zecora can refill a cup with water with no horn to cast magic. That sort of magic is almost like what discord does. just wave a hoof and she warped reality. XD

We don't actually know enough about Zecora's magical ability to be good judges. Everything we've seen can be explained via alchemy and slight of hand. The refilling of the cup might actually have been a slight of hand/illusion trick, used to illustrate a point, rather than 'magic' as we'd normally understand it. Or, she could in fact have access to magic in ways that normal unicorns aren't aware of.

There's no doubt that Trixie with the Alicorn Amulet would be more powerful, but I get the sense Zecora would use her wits to win somehow. It's hard to say anything for sure though, given how little we know about Zecora's magic (and zebras in general).
