"Now that Shane's here, let's go get some chicken wings!" Hikari said before stepping on the gas. She usually drives relatively safe, but today was an exception. She drove a little bit over the limit towards the most famous restaurant in the area that make the best deep-fried chicken. It even won an award for creating the most delicious chicken in the whole of the country.

Misha got up once the car started and began to drive off. He didn't mind buckling his seat belt and positioned himself in the middle of the two front seats with his arms rested up against the shoulder ledges. "Well well, isn't this going to be fun? What are we going to do to pass the long drive back, hmm? Decisions, decisions..." Misha started off with a giddy tone. "Oh I got it, we could all sing campfire songs a capella the whole way like a tight-knit family on a adventure?" He said with a hint of sarcasm. But moments after he continued, correcting himself with an over-considerate tone. "How impolite of me, the choice should be up to our new companion. So how about it? You have anything in mind Raiya?" He asked as he leaned over.

Raiya gritted her teeth and clenched her fists. 

"How about we play the, 'it' game. If you are 'it' you can't talk until you aren't it. You can start us off, Misha." She said as she gave a fake smile. 

Zeke could physically feel the heat of anger coming off of Raiya, and he wasn't sure if it was because of magic, or because her blood was literally boiling.

"Heheh... this is going to be a long ride." Zeke muttered as he continued on the freeway.

Misha immediately got a stern serious look and did a salute with his hand to her at the suggestion of the game. He went to retreat back into the back seat for now, but before he did he fished through his suit pockets.  After a few seconds he pulled out a closed envelope. Ripping it open he found a CD inside, it would appear the bikini breifcase wasn't the only thing he prepared for the trip. He pushed it into the stereo system and snapped his fingers with a spark of magic to spring it to life. 

 

As Misha slank into the back of the car, Tom Jones' 'What's New Pussycat' began to play on repeat for as long as it could. However Misha guessed it wouldn't be too long. He quietly began to search the back of the car for anything else to do.

Raiya could only stand the autism for so long before she ejected the disk and tossed it out the window. She then connected her iPhone to the port that was hooked up to the sound system. 

"I hope you guys like Led Zepplin and AC/DC because that isn't even close to what we are going to listen to right now and I want you to be as uncomfortable as possible." She said as she pushed play and Lamb of God's song Laid to Rest began playing.

Zeke wasn't into heavy metal, but he didn't object because there was no clause in her agreement that restrained her from pulverizing them both.

Misha watched as the CD flew out the window and into the ditch with a smirk. From the back seat he looked over to her curiously, he was unsure how she hadn't killed him yet at this point. She didn't really even yell at him either over what happened. In a way Misha was pretty impressed by her self control. And in a way he almost started to feel bad.

 

But considering she had blown up his car and tried to get Saul to kill him, he didn't feel bad enough to stop quite yet. Misha snapped his fingers as soon as there was a break in the lyrics. Nothing seemed to happen at first, but as soon as the lyrics continued the effect of what he did became a bit more noticeable. Instead of the usual metal lyrics, the song was now yelling the lyrics to "What's New Pussycat" but with a metal twist to it. He couldn't stop himself from giving a soft snicker from the back seat as he listened. 

 

Tom Jones' song may be in the highway ditch now. But it's legend lives on.

"Wings? Is there gunna be sauce... or are they just fried? Cause... if we're getting fried chicken, I'd like a drumstick," Saya mumbles. The whole time she doesn't look at Shane and hugs her cello protectively. Seeing as it's now her magic core... probably makes sense. Wouldn't want to litterally burn her batteries, now would we.

Hikari looked at the rear view mirror, wondering why Sayaa was being so protective about her cello. Sure, it's what she's always wanted, but it felt more like it was more than just that. Is her source of power contained within a tangible entity? Did she turn her previous object into a cello? As she fell into deep thought, she suddenly choked when she realized that her car almost hit a pedestrian crossing the street. The car shook a bit but everything was still in tact. "Hehehe.. Sorry bout' that!" She said nervously.

 

They all managed to arrive to the restaurant in one piece. Hikari parked her car in a parking lot nearby since she didn't want to get a ticket for parking on the road. "It's just a few minutes away from here. Let's get going before it gets dark." Hikari said before getting out of the car. She glanced at the time on her phone. It was 5:26pm.

Raiya ran through a list of things that she could do to assure that she would no longer have to be subjected to this type of torture. She thought of destroying the stereo system, but she could already figure that Misha would have some way to continue his fuckwittery. So in the end she decided to cast a audio nullifying barrier around her head. The barrier was a thin invisible magic spell that conformed to her head exactly, so there would be no way to allow sound into her ears. 

Zeke couldn't take much more of that so he plugged his earbuds into his iPhone and listened to his own music for a while.

Sayaa grinned as she left the vehicle, giving Hikari a thumbs up. She slung her cello around her shoulders and moved to her side. She looked a little older, though it was probably because she wasn't holding a doll in her hands all the time. After all, dolls are for kids.

After about thirty seconds Misha popped back up in between the two front seats. He looked back and forth before realizing the that they couldn't hear him anymore. Zeke had earbuds in, and Raiya was clearly too calm to be hearing the speakers anymore. And since he felt a spell being cast, he put two and two together. "Well you two are no fun..." He commented as he sunk back into the back of the car again. With not enough experience to change the song to something he actually liked, he flicked it off with the snap of his fingers. 

 

After rifling though the car he found a journal. He pulled out a gold pen and wrote "What's New Pussycat?" on it with a small smiley face next to it and ripped the page off. He crumpled it up into a ball and then adeptly bounced it off the dashboard and into Raiya's lap. Feeling that he might be pushing it, Misha decided with a sigh to look out the window at the scenery to pass the time since he had nothing better to do.

It was the time to strike. No buildings in sight, no sort of cover. It was the perfect playing field for the job. "Target spotted. It appears that she has two goons with her, but they shouldn't be a problem." One of the squad members reported to their captain, Chelsea. "Lay down the chameleon mines and get in position. We'll attack when they get closer." She commanded her squad mates.

 

There were five mercenaries, including Chelsea, a wanted Esper that has killed dozens of people for blood money. She gets paid for killing specific targets, no questions asked. It is unknown what her powers are, but she's categorized as an Esper within the database. There was a recon that's scoped onto the vehicle, a Cloaking Esper that kept everyone invisible up until point blank with his ability, and three soldiers planting mines on the floor.

 

After they finished planting the explosives on the floor, they walked away from it and regrouped up ahead. "Lets make it quick, I haven't had anything to eat since this morning." Chelsea told her squad. The car started to approach the mines, and it was only a matter of time before it would send the car flying up into the skies, burning the people inside along with it. "This should be interesting." She said with a smirk on her face.

 

Chelsea's Profile (Includes Spoilers. Don't read it if you want to make it more interesting.)

 

 

Her fighting style is aggressive yet she's still very careful with every single move she makes. She has quite a lot of weapons on her. A heavily-modded M416 with four magazines. A mag with explosive rounds, two FMJ mags, and a mag with ordinary bullets. She also carries around two G18's with drum mags, and wears a Kevlar vest underneath her plain black t-shirt. She has greyish hair with shades of neon blue.

 

Chelsea's Esper powers are completely unique, and does not fit into any category. She manipulates gravity, pressure, air, light and pretty much anything around her in a spherical shape. She can also enlarge the area of the sphere but her powers decreases dramatically when she does, so she usually keeps it in a relatively small area.

 

Even though this power is awfully powerful, she is classified as a level 3 Esper due to the lack of offensive capabilities, but is a tough foe to take down, especially in close range. By bubbling herself in her sphere, she can hover off the ground, and even fly at times, but she gets nervous when she gets too high up into the sky so she tends to stick to the floor more often.

Raiya's eyes were closed as she was about to take a soundless nap. The peace didn't last long though as a piece of paper bounced off the dashboard and landed into Raiya's lap. She didn't know why she opened the paper, she already knew what was written in it, perhaps she read it so that she could be justifiably angry. The point remained that she read it nonetheless. Raiya's blood coming once more to a boil, she clenched the paper in her fists and it incinerated into dust.

 

Raiya flipped around and faced Misha and turned her audio spell off, "LISTEN HERE YOU LITTLE SHIT! I'VE HAD JUST ABOUT ENOUGH OF-", Raiya couldn't finish her sentence because within the next moment the car instantly swerved making Raiya hit her head on the seat-belt guide mounted up on the ceiling of the car knocking her unconscious. Her unconscious body flopped over the seat in front of Misha.

Zeke was listening to his music peacefully when he smelled something burning, he turned his head to see Raiya more furious than usual. Zeke was just about to make a comment to Misha about how he should stop poking a sleeping bear, when he felt the familiar twinge of Niveus's warning system, the same one that prevented Zeke from being obliterated by a grenade buried underground by the intangible esper they fought in the caves. Zeke wasn't sure why but he jerked the searing wheel as if avoiding something. Whatever it was that Niveus was warning Zeke about, it seems they narrowly avoided it, but because of the sharp swerve they took, and Raiya's unsafe positioning, Raiya met with a bump to the head and fell unconscious, her body hanging limp over the passenger seat. With no time to ask Niveus what just happened, Zeke corrected the steering, and screeched to a halt. He pulled the earbuds out and looked over at the now limp Raiya.

 

What just happened? Zeke thought as he scratched the back of his head and stepped out of the Escalade, unaware of the 4 cloaked people ten to twenty meters ahead of them.

Misha's bored look quickly turned to excitement once Raiya turned around. Misha didn't say anything, basking in the rage until it abruptly cut out. Misha jolted to the side once the car swerved, but the seat belt kept him safe from the same fate Raiya suffered. He wasn't sure if he should laugh, or be disappointed that he didn't get to hear the rest of what she had to say. "It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt." Misha commented with a sigh once he realized that she was definitely out cold. The position she was in didn't look all that comfortable, so he carefully pulled her into the backseat and next to him. With his arm around her shoulder to keep her from falling over, he pulled out the notepad once more and fished out his pen. He found a sticky note and decided to give the Tom Jones legacy one last entry. Misha wrote "What's New Pussycat?" on it and then stuck it to her jacket. 

 

"Look Zeke, we're like two peas in a pod! I can tell we're gonna get along just fine!" He called out to him. Misha ended it with a laugh and then stepped out of the car and leaned up against the door. "Nice save." He commented.

Chelsea was quite surprised when they dodged the mines. "No matter. Approach the vehicle quietly and fire if they're aware of our presence. The recon from far away had his scope in Misha, aimed straight at his chest. Chelsea grabbed her rifle and loaded in a FMJ mag to make sure she can pierce the car if they were to take cover behind it. She hovered slowly towards them with the Cloaker still keeping everyone but the sniper invisible. There were four sets of footsteps approaching the vehicle, including the Cloaker since being invisible doesn't mean they're not physically there. However, they were treading on the solid pathway in a stealthily manner. Only someone who is extremely aware of their surroundings or a good listener would be able to notice them. The three soldiers had their guns pointing directly at Zeke's and Misha's head as they got closer and closer. The Cloaker however, stopped and continued to keep them hidden from a distance to avoid any sort of danger.

As he waited for Zeke, Misha started to become all to aware that something was wrong. His years of experience with tracking people started to come back to him. He could feel slight vibrations in the ground, and heard the all to familiar sound of boots sneaking along. Even the air smelled off to him for a rural place like this. Keeping the landscape in mind, he had to ask himself where he would set up an ambush if he had to. And sadly came to the conclusion that it would be here. 

 

Without his cane or any guns all he had was his magic and a few small blades for this one. Still not aware as to why Zeke swerved earlier, he figured the best course of action would be to act natural and wait while thinking on what to do.

"What was that, Niveus, why'd you send off a warning signal like that?" Zeke said, looking at his glowing shoulder.

"There are seven devices on the asphalt, after analyzing them I came to the conclusion that they are highly explosive. I thought it best for you not to have the tires meet the explosive objects." Niveus said

"Wait, are you saying there were mines on the road?" Zeke asked

"Indeed, and they were camouflaged into the asphalt of the vehicular waypath." Niveus replied.

Zeke's street instincts kicked in. It didn't take someone with years on the street or even years of mercenary work like Misha to understand that mines on a road isn't normal. But aside from the clear setup, the air was thick with tension.

"Misha, if you are thinking what I am thinking, this is a clear setup." Zeke said. "Niveus is there any persons within a hundred yard radius surrounding me besides Misha and Raiya?" Zeke asked.

"I was only able to detect and analyze the explosives because there was a distinct electric wave given off by the devices. I found it odd and so I quickly analyzed them and found an explosive form of nitroamine inside them. I could detect other human's in theory from the passive electromagnetic waves given off by them, but this would take much more time than just detecting a simple device that gives off a clear electric signal. Unless they were visible to the human eye, I could not redily detect them without at least 15 minutes of calculation." Niveus replied.

"So if someone is coming, they are invisible. I see." Zeke replied. He walked over to the Escalade and closed all the doors, locking it from the inside before stepping back out into the open. "The Escalade is a Crux gang car, and Raiya's own car no less. I am not positive, but I am betting that the glass is bullet proof, and the metal the SUV is made of is reinforced. Raiya will be safe locked in the car for now at least." Zeke said to Misha. "I have a feeling this is going to get real ugly."

Chelsea spotted something unusual, as if they were someone was coming. 'Seems like they're unarmed..' She thought to herself. Chelsea looked in the direction of the sniper and made a gesture with her left hand signalling him to fire. A single .50 caliber bullet headed straight towards Misha's chest, and the millisecond the shot was fired, the three cloaked soldiers unloaded their guns at both Zeke and Misha. "Game over."

Niveus once again shot an instant warning signal to Zeke which made Zeke react before he even knew what he was reacting to. Zeke touched Misha right as the sniper pulled the trigger and the others opened fire, quantum leaping both Zeke and Misha to the opposite side of the SUV to take cover. 

Due to the threat level I have given you access to tier four abilities which includes tier 1 heightened senses/increased physical attributes and rapid regeneration tier 2 the manipulation of light waves, tier 3 advanced manipulation of light waves/radiation and tier 4 quantum leap. I must warn you that you have used two quantum leaps within the past 3 hours. Your body and stamina seem to be adjusting better to your powers, but remember that over usage can result in a complete quantum breakdown of your very existence. So I would advice caution when expending energy.

"Thank you, Niveus. I got it from here." Zeke said. Zeke closed his eyes and began to use his heightened hearing to listen for any foe that may try and sneak up on them

After leaping Misha felt as sick as he usually would, not nearly as adjusted to it as Zeke had become. Hearing the bullets hit the car and not him put a smirk on his face. "Nice save again." He commented as he started drawing a rune with his hand as he recovered. "The ground troops should advance soon, we can kill them once they get closer. However that's going to be a lot easier without a sniper breathing down our backs." Misha explained as he grabbed onto the car's door mirror and broke it off by elbowing it.

 

With the now portable mirror, he used the reflection to scout the area without getting out of cover. Misha wasn't looking for the invisible assault soldiers, and instead something a bit more specific: The glint of the sniper's scope. After a few seconds he finally saw it off into the distance and gave a small guttural laugh. "I spy with my little eye, someone who is about to have a very bad day." Misha said as he came out of cover at back of the car, his spell now at the ready. Already knowing the position of the sniper made aiming quick, and hopefully their death even quicker. After a half second of charging, the spell fanned out into a large glowing runic circle that fired off a wide beam of explosive yellow energy with a bang right where he saw the glint. Misha made his way back into the cover, though he couldn't stop himself from peeking out a little bit to see the aftermath of the spell.

'Magic? No, it can't be. Is he an Esper?' Chelsea thought to herself when she saw both of them disappear. She watched from a distance, wondering how it'll turn out, and if she'll have to step in before things get rough. "What the f-" She said as she watched a rune forming behind the vehicle as a yellow beam flew straight towards the location of the sniper, and before she knew it, the sniper was no more. The three men approached the back of the car in two different directions, one from the left and two from the right.

Zeke still had his eyes closed, he could hear the dull thud of the boots from each one of the men approaching.

"There are three guys coming, sounds like two from the right one from the left. I'll get the right." Zeke said. He fabricated another spear of plasma, and held it as a sword once more. "On three. One. Two. THREE!" He said as he quickly stepped out from behind the vehicle and swiped his plasma spear where he heard the men should be in one fluid motion. The horizontal arc of the plasma spear would be wide enough to reach both the men.

Misha watched with another laugh when the beam took out the sniper. He nodded and waited for the countdown at the other end of the vehicle. Once it reached three Misha shot a blast right at the ground where he thought the man would be coming through instead, kicking up dust and smoke from the blast. Even though the man was invisible, he could see his physical form within the floating debris. Afterwards Misha grabbed the barrel of the gun with his right hand and pointed it away from him and kicked his heel on the ground, ejecting a knife from the tip of his boot. Misha then kicked right for the mans stomach and went to punch him in the face with his free hand.

Chelsea waited for the perfect moment to strike, which was after all three of her squad mates died. "Dammit, I guess I'll have to look for replacements after this." She placed down her rifle since it was quite heavy and she wanted to get up and personal with them. When Zeke killed the two soldiers with his plasma spear, she propelled herself up and dropped straight back down at him, holding her knife with a reversed grip. Chelsea multiplied the gravity by ten fold within her dome, causing her to fall down awfully fast, increasing the chances of hitting him before he can react and the damage it'll inflict if it makes contact. She was aiming for his shoulder since it wouldn't be fun if it went straight through his head.

Zeke's lance burned through the flesh of the two men, and the bodies quickly fell into two pieces. Zeke once again felt Niveus's warning system activated once more. Zeke quickly jumped back to avoid the falling object Niveus was warning Zeke about.
