What would happen if Twilight never became Celestia's student

Think about all the possibilities if Twilight never became Celestia's student. That would also mean not being friends with the other 5 ponies of the mane 6. I just think it would fun thinking about how everyone would be affected. It's no exaggeration, I think all of Equestria would possibly be destroyed if Twilight Sparkle never went to Ponyville and met her friends. I think maybe Sunset Shimmer would have become Twilight essentially.

Your suggestion of Sunset being Twilight's stand in has some merit, but that's assuming that she doesn't turn rogue like she does in the canon timeline. But Sunset going bad had nothing to do with Twilight becoming a student, so that's pretty much out unless you just ignore causality. I think that Celestia would most likely be on the search for a new student. Heck, maybe one less cold and awkward than Twi had been initially. And the Mane Six would be a completely different group. Heck, if Princess C. had played her cards right, she could well have gotten a student knowledgeable enough to control multiple elements at once, like she did against Luna.

Anyway, I assume that Twilight would become a librarian or something, and would attempt to get the elements, except this time there would be ponies from canterlot as the elements.

Twilight would just be a normal unicorn who went to Celestia's school, her and her friends wouldn't know each other, Nightmare Moon would have succeeded in taking over Equestria and plunging the entire world into eternal night. Everything would be in turmoil since food can't be grown without the sun. Tyranny and Marshall law would reign.

 

Basically the world's @$&%ed without Twilight being Celestia's student.

Probably not.

Twilight had never met Sunset Shimmer, so her presence didn't have an effect on Sunset's timeline.

With no differences, Sunset and Celestia would have still had their falling out and Sunset would have still run away to the human world.

Well you never said she wouldn't still study magic but considering she never gets celestia's assignment to go to ponyville, she wouldn't meet the mane 6.
