I become friends with the people I just 'click' with. Similar hobbies and interests can cause it, but it's mostly personality. Those people are generally funny, kind or clever. Sometimes they're loud, sometimes they're reserved, some are a little cynical and others are very warm. Some people just one of those three things, while others are all three.

 

It's probably easier to list the things which push me away. Poor hygiene, bigotry, cruelty, apathy and immaturity are the biggest. I'll tolerate, but I won't be calling myself 'friends' with such people.

Not gonna lie, when someone's a Rarity hater, I automatically think less of them. I could want to be someone's friend, "oop, Rarity hater, they can come to me instead."

 

I usually end up arguing with them, anyway, so it's whatever.

Someone who's nice, doesn't get into much trouble, has a good sense of humour, is able to give as good as they get when it comes to banter, drinks, is free to spend time with.

i don't have any frineds but  to be my frineds you have to want to understand me and who i am.   Likeing guns, shooting, swords, and weapons would be at the top of my list. Soomeone who keeps there word, if you say your going to be there or do something do it.  I would like to have a least one female in my group.  I really don't have any standards. Really i good frined would be someone that if the zombie apocolypse was to happen i would know you have my back.

My close group of friends are a grab bag of "bad" qualities:

-there's an otaku with an open and terrifying encyclopedic knowledge of anime and hentai and a cackle that'll make hard man shiver

-there's a indifferent jerk who always kinda smells like old sweat and blares Avenged Sevenfold on purpose because he knows I hate it

-there's a snobby Tumblr addict who likes to show off in any way he can (either by previous knowledge of some new internet fad or his girlfriend)

-there's a guy who tries really hard to be funny and is routinely cringeworthy

-And there's me, an opinionated a$$hole with a dry sense of humor and a a hate-list that can fill a dictionary

 

...but we all share one thing: We're good kids.

We don't do drugs. We don't go out and party. We don't go out and cause trouble for lelz.

Our idea of a good time is playing Mario Party without reading all the rules and cussing loudly as we try to f*ck eachother over in any way we possibly can.

I don't tend to list my standards cause for me its just common sense, but i realize not everypony is the same and standards to them might be different to me... so...

 

- Must be open minded

- Try to be considerate of other ponies feelings, whether they agree with them or not

- Can communicate in an adult/mature fashion when they are having issues

- Respects that I am married, don't try to hit on me lol

- Must love LIFE, I won't stand for emos or pessemets

- Supportive, caring, understanding and passionate, loyal as well.

- Must have 5 elements, honesty, loyalty, laughter, kindness and generosity

- If you've had issues with other ponies before, thats understandable, but dont bring the drama on your new friends etc.

It's all in good fun, but once someone targets you exclusively for a coin-stealing for the 4th time in a row, and then you purposely lose whne they're on your team in the next minigame, the banter starts a-flyin'. x)

I've been wondering about this myself, because in retrospect, I've definitely consciously avoided certain people who wanted to be my friend. Some things to highlight;

 

-I'm a very activity-based person. I tend not to hang around and "just talk" with people, so we need to have shared activities that we can enjoy.

-I tend to be accepting of opinions I disagree with, but there's a limit when another person passionately talks about those opinions, while I pretty firmly disagree about them. For one previous friend, this came up with their joking dismissal of all sorts of stereotyped groups. ("Man, all these hipsters who hang out at Rodney Square!...'Ey, lookat my fifteenth painting of random brush strokes sold for $50 so I can pay for my art degree!")

Poor hygiene may have been a little harsh. It doesn't make anyone a bad person, just... unpleasant to be around.

 

By that, I mean really bad body odour. People who think that body spray can pass for a shower, people who only shower every two or three days, don't brush their teeth... And wearing the same dirty clothes without washing them for ages.

 

I suppose that wouldn't stop me from thinking someone was a cool person... But I wouldn't want to hang around them very long.
