Here, we can discuss everything about the 2014 Sailor Moon remake. Like our expectations, favorite senshi, our favorite VAs from present and past, etc. 

 

Myself, I'm just hoping that they stick purely to the manga (no deviation) and there's no censorship. And I hope that they use quality VAs for this, and the personalities in the english version stay true to the japanese version. No offense, but Serena and Usagi were almost as different as night and day, and Usagi was a whole lot more enjoyable as a character compared to Serena. She just had this voice that melted my heart, especially in all the scenes where she cried (she actually put a ton of emotion behind it, where Serena's reactions weren't nearly as powerful). 

 

Also, I can't wait to see the Sailor Quartet and Sailor Cosmos

 

PS: Does anyone know where I can find some actual trailers? All I see are videos that talk about it, but no actual trailers.

The series is being called "Sailor Moon Crystal."  So far, Kotono Mitsuishi has been confirmed to reprise her role of Tsukino Usagi AKA Sailor Moon.  Also, there are new character designs that are more faithful to the manga.

I've seen Sailor Moon before and to me, it's more like an all-female take on Power Rangers, which is still great in my books.  And not to promote merchandise, you can also get the Bandai S.H. Figuarts figures of Sailor Moon and the Sailor Senshi(Just like Power Rangers, Mega Man, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Pokemon, and now Super Mario Bros).

As much as I like Power Rangers, I didn't like the English version music choices. NOTHING should ever replace La Soldier.

From what I have read, in addition to a prime time television slot in Japan, they will release the episodes online with subtitles in multiple languages. That does my heart well, seeing as Sailor Moon content was notoriously difficult to find here in North America back in the days of the dub. I don't want to sound like some snobbish fan who believes anything Japanese is instantly superior to English productions of anime, but the North American dub of Sailor Moon was nothing short of atrocious. I'm quite happy we'll get official subtitles. Undoubtedly a DVD release will follow in the near future, too.

 

It remains to be seen whether Sailor Moon Crystal will run through all the arcs, or if they will just be a series of about 20 episodes or so.

I didn't know they were doing a remake. I'm totally down for this. Though I've only ever seen the English version of it (which I hear was censored heavily) I enjoyed it thoroughly. I just hope this one gets dubbed as well, just not censored.

Dubbing would be the worst thing ever, unless they could hire fans who could do Rina-chan tier voice acting. Part of what made the English version so inferior was the voice acting. Barely any emotion behind their lines at all =/

That doesn't mean it won't be dubbed ever. I really can't stand reading subtitles so I opt for English every time if I can help it.

True, although Usagi has a very unique voice, that is pretty hard to pull off well in English. And there's also the threat of them (ugh) changing everyone's names around.

I don't care about them replicating voices. Just having a voice that fits the character is enough.

 

And I don't think changing names is as much of an issue in anime these days unless it's something that could be potential copyright problems. They keep original names and more often than not some of the more popular voice actors also speak some Japanese so know how to pronounce the names properly as well.

It was totally redone by Funimation after the 4Kids dub was cancelled. I don't actually know if it's been dubbed from the beginning or not though. I've yet to watch any of the new dub.
