What do you think of the Somlestia ship?

Alternate Universe. Think of alternate dimension where genders are switched or their morals are reversed in otherwords.

Oooooh, so that's the idea. I was a bit confused 0_o

If that's the case, TIME PARADOX!!!

Son of a... I have not read the comics but from what I gather they are on different tracks from the cartoon so until Its mentioned in the cartoon it is not cartoon canon. Not that I have a problem with the pairing (though I would of picked luna for him... just saying)

Looks like most of the fandom tends to ignore it.

Didn't see that much fanart or fics of them...

However, i don't mind anymore of it being mentioned in the show (which could really happen).

Good Guy Sombra my be a bit mary sues, bland and whithout much character development but at least this ship would character wise make sense.

I was...okay with it. I really liked AU Sombra. I was a little disappointed that Celestia had to be pining after some impossible love interest however...even if the mirror adventures with Starswirl are completely plausible to me. Of course they would never have a same-sex relationship in MLP but I felt like that would be more interesting than some stereotypical love pinage from Tia (especially because they are like the extreme of star-crossed lovers)... So I think my "okay-ness" is more "I like AU Sombra" rather than "I like AU Sombra and Celestia together." I think they were trying to show her "soft side" since she's always so emotionally controlled and serious business but it was like...you can't think of one way to do that without her attaching herself to an impossible male lover who more or less kills himself (or his good side) to save her life?

:okiedokielokie:

The really interesting angle was how Celestia was attracted to that world because Luna was GOOD there. That was compelling and cool...I mean what if she'd gotten really attached to AU Luna? What if the conflict was THERE instead of the Sombra thing? Idk.

I actually like it a little!

Too bad Alternate Universe Sombra becomes evil like his main universe counterpart, and the dimensional mirror gets destroyed.

Because it's not the same tired Romeo/Juliet het BS? Pretty straightforward. :)

And this helps because? It's fresh and edgy? That's very close to fetishizing homosexuality. Homosexuality isn't some special thingy that is instantly better and gets a stamp of approval for being understanding. The comic arc was idiotic even without Somlestia, Celuna would have been just as bad, if not worse, because of the whole, y'know, incest thing

"Oh, shipping is when you take two characters from a T.V. show, who aren’t romantically involved in any shape or form, and then you force them to become a lesbian couple by drawing vivid and pituitous fan art of them for about six months, before you move on to some other show. Lather, rinse, repeat.
