Applejack's reaction to human agriculture

OK today I had this idea in mind:
What would be Applejack's reaction when seeing human agriculture?
You know, all these huge machines, pumping chemical fertilizers into the soil, genetically modified plants, monocultures and what not...
Here's what I imagined, in a vectored form :)

How do you like her expression? Do you think it's adequate? :)
I can hear her saying: "What in tarnation am just seein'? That's aponination1!" :D

What about the "technical details"? (proportions etc.) Are they OK? Or there's something I could improve? (BTW keep in mind that I tried to draw her from memory. I tried to not use much references, because it was an exercise of whether I would be able to draw her from memory).

[1] A word play about "abomination". I just thought she couldn't say exactly that, because this word comes from "ab-" + "homine" = "away from human", so I replaced it with "poni"  ;)

Applejack would be confused yet amazed at all the machines but would also probably be horrified at the genetic modifications and massive use of chemicals and pesticides. She also probably wouldn't like the treatment of alot of the animals with them in unsanity and crowded conditions albeit not nearly as much as Fluttershy but probably still wouldn't care for it at all.

Yeah, "mechanical horses" which drink gasoline and breathe smoke. It could be fun, though, to tell her that we measure the power of these machines in horsepower :)

Applejack: "Well let's see then which horse has more power in its hooves. Time for some serious buckin'." :)

but would also probably be horrified at the genetic modifications

Applejack: "Ya tellin' me that Nature needs fixin'? I reckon it's rather your brain what needs fixin'."

and massive use of chemicals and pesticides.

Applejack: "This creep ain't natural. Am tellin' ya, Nature would be better off without you bein' around."

This part of our Universe I'd rather never show to her :s

Daamn, this would kill our poor Fluttershy :|

Hmmm, the tail looks a bit short, same with the legs, though I think that may just be personal preference.

Apart from that, I love it, especially the expression   So keep it up!

Actually with judging by the episode "Bats" I think Applejack would actually like the pesticides. I mean sure it would make the apples require a little work after they're picked, but I think Applejack might actually appreciate something that keeps things that would ruin her crop away. Heck, I don't think she would even be against the genocide of them either.

As for the farming machines, Applejack is a pony who enjoys hard work so I don't think she would be for them. But in "Apple Family Reunion" she gave Granny Smith and her cousin a sewing machine to help with the sewing rather than do it themselves; though that could have been her not thinking straight. I could see a John Henry story coming out of this though, like with the Flim Flam brothers.

I could see Applejack fawning over a John Deer tractor, as she does seem to like machines that speed up processes (in apple family reunion he gave the old women sewing machines), she would be amazed at how automated it is compared to farming in the pony world.

But Applejack riding a John Deer......that I would like to see.

Not to mention, she could harvest the entire orchard by herself!

No, you're right. There's something fishy going on with these proportions, so thanks for your critique. I think I made her stomach too big (is she pregnant?!), which makes her legs to appear too short. And perhaps her corpus it too low, too. I'll try to fiddle with it yet more, maybe it will fix that problem.

Thanks ;) Nice to hear that, because it was important to me the most to make this expression believable and accurate ;)

I haven't see in "Bats" episode any indication that she would be happy to kill any pests by poisonous chemicals (which can be also harmful to the plants and the people/ponies who eat them). As far as I remember, she just wanted these bats to go somewhere else. But I might have missed something. I'll rewatch this episode and find out.

but I think Applejack might actually appreciate something that keeps things that would ruin her crop away.

There are less harmful and "in Harmony with Nature" ways to do that, and I'm rather on Fluttershy's boat with that.

There are different kinds of machines one can build. Some of them are useful and environment-friendly, some of them are only useful (if you get the point). I guess she would appreciate machines which could save her work (but not exclude her altogether, that is, machines which just elevate her own power) if they were environment-friendly. Some simple machines (a lever, a plough, gears, maybe some steam engine) are OK I guess.

But our machines in Human World are not much like that. They do a lot of noise, they produce a lot of unnecessary pollution to the environment, they emit poisonous substances (heavy metals) in their exhaust gases, they "drink" poisonous substances (gasoline, which after refining and chemical "upgrading" is not much natural oil anymore; though some canola oil would perhaps be OK). But what is worst, they waste more energy than is gained by the crops (human combustion engines have energy efficiency below 30% from what I remember).

Not to mention, she could harvest the entire orchard by herself!

If using machines to do it for you counts as "by herself" ;)
