general media Looking to get back into Linux and need to find a good gaming distro

I am semi comfortable with getting under the hood, as long as there are instructions that aren't too complicated. I mainly just want to listen to MP3s, browse forums/Youtube, play a few games (Eden Eternal, Skyrim, LoL, and possibly Legends of Equestria) and that's about it. It must have the option to start the installation from Windows, because I only have one USB, and it contains my only x64 Windows 7 copy.

I was thinking Steam OS, although it might be a bit limited in some things even in the long run, although I heard that it's tailored specifically for gaming, and about all I do is gaming and web browsing.

I run Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on my laptop, a Lenovo IdeaPad y510p with no issues. I haven't tested for SLI functionality, but I've got Steam running on it with a couple games including TF2, Starbound and Portal 2 with no issues.

You can install from Windows using WUBI included on the ISO though I do not have experience with that. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

I'm trying out OpenElec, which is basically a stand alone XBMC. Not sure what kind of games it can handle, but I don't really play MMOs anyway, and I know it can handle emulators. And about the only thing I do anymore is watch, listen, and read stuff. And maybe once in a rare blue moon play a MMO.

So far, it took me about 30 min to find out how to use the web browser, but it's running like a dream

I've been using Arch, and have native steam games, as well as windows games running under wine, and it works great. Linux gaming performance is pretty impressive. I guess distro doesn't really matter all that much, as long as you have capable hardware though.

I use Mint myself, and with WINE I can run nearly any game I've tried to run (and mostly the ones I cant run need better hardware than I have).

As already said, distro doesn't matter that much.
