movies/tv Which Dragonball series should I start with?

Should I go right to Dragonball Z, or watch Dragonball first? Also, which series should I avoid watching?

You can start with either. I would suggest Dragon Ball because it comes first, and helps you understand some of the characters better. Plus, it's really funny, and is probably the better written of the two.

 

 Dragon Ball Z doesn't require knowledge of the first, so you could start with that if you want. It's not as funny as the first, but it has some really great action, and some awesome moments.

 

 As for GT. You could ignore that one if you want. It's not considered canon. I'd say give it a try anyway though, you might like it. Who knows?

I know not really that much about Dragonball in general. I've watched a pretty small part of the whole thing.

 

However, as my kinda rule of thumb typically for things like shows and games I always tend to just go in order as far as the timeline goes, or just in the order from oldest to newest series.

 

That's just me though, i feel weird doing it any other way personally.

The original, because it's the original. You can start DBZ first if you want, but I personally enjoyed it more after watching the original

Watching Dragon Ball first will give you more context for when you do watch Dragon Ball Z but is not required as many American fans such as me watched Dragon Ball Z first because that gained popularity in America before Dragon Ball did and were still able to understand most of the story. Dragon Ball GT if you should choose to watch that should definitely be watched last because you won't understand or appreciate anything unless you watch at least Dragon Ball Z and preferably both. The best of them is definitely Dragon Ball but Dragon Ball Z is also pretty good and Dragon Ball GT isn't as good as the others but I don't think deserves as much hate as it gets.

- Goku vs. Frieza & Cell in Hell

- Super Android 17

- Nuova Shenron

- Syn/Omega Shenron

- Gogeta
