Topic title is pretty self explanatory, and I couldn't find a topic like this so I decided to boot one up on my own  

 

 

 

Anyway, here's my list
 

Rarity - 

MLB - New York Mets (She'd really like their uniforms )

NHL - Montreal Canadiens (The French culture of Quebec would sell the Habs to her )

NFL - Minnesota Vikings (I've always found her to like purple like I do, and the Vikings are all purple)

NBA - Los Angeles Lakers (The winning history and the fact this is the team the celebrities like)

She'd love the Rays for their use of advanced statistics in order to build a winning team, and would then try to keep all of her favorite teams in that area for organizations sake.

Umm...I only follow the NHL out of NA's 'big 4' so I'm going to limit myself to those:

  Tampa Bay Lightning - Team based around a weather motif, nicknamed the 'Bolts' giving RD more Bolt-based fandom, finally the Bolt logo. They also won the SC in '04 and I think RD would like to be able to brag about being 20% cooler that season. Her loyalty would continue despite their lack of success since.
  Columbus Blue Jackets - When they score a cannon is fired in celebration, maybe Pinkie would like to bring her own to the party! The cannon is also the logo of their third jersey. 
 Montreal Canadiens - Their rich history, longevity and importance within the league and its creation make them the perfect subject study for Twilight (perhaps they are the Princess Celestia of NHL teams)
 New York Rangers - Very vintage style jersey which I think she might like. Also the team appear sharp off the ice, I could see Rarity thinking Lundqvist is some sort of well-dressed prince who she wishes to create something for. 
  Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes - Animal based logo, little success and perceived as underdogs, often overlooked by others also. They have a defence first strategy which would appeal to someone not so offence-thinking. Their name will change, but as it stood last season it meant the team's name contained two animals. The former name also reminded me of Philomena and Fluttershy's attempt to care for her.
 Nashville Predators- Whilst not as 'southern' as the Dallas Stars, I didn't want that to be the sole definition of AJ and how to pick her team. To some extent it will come into consideration as her country persona is a large part of her character.  So firstly, the team have built their current identity around country music with guitar strings on the jersey lettering and numbers, piano keys on the inner collar and a guitar pick as the shoulder logo. The team has a country following with many new country artists seen at Bridgestone Arena. Perhaps most importantly, they're a hard-working team with plenty of grit where every player needs to contribute for the team to succeed, I could see these aspects appealing to AJ. Rinne and Weber would appeal to her competitive streak with each being one of the league's best in his position (they're also kind of the 'Big Macs' of the team!)

Rarity- I see her going New York all the way, what with Manehattan being a real world equivalent, and NY teams' tendency towards iconic looking uniforms.  Plus Rarity is definitely interested in being at "the place to be", and there's no bigger place to be than Madison Square Garden.

I'll talk mainly about the criteria I think they'd use to determine their faves. Dunno enough about sports to pinpoint anything for sure.

 

Twilight Sparkle: She read Moneyball and likes the Oakland A's. Other than that, she defaults to liking D.C-based teams because she's royalty and they're the capital and all.

 

Applejack: Southern teams, I feel like she'd passionately support a few small (minor league?) teams and then be take it or leave it with larger ones. Her support would depend on how much she liked the players on the team and their camaraderie.

 

Pinkie Pie: The team with the fans who know how to have the most fun! Which I've been told by @Batbrony is the Packers

 

Rainbow Dash: I've seen a lot of posts above about her being a massive bandwagoner, but considering that she was the element of loyalty... that doesn't really hold up for me. I think she'd like a few of the teams with the largest legacies (Yankies, Celtics, etc) but not hop from successful team to successful team depending on the year. She'd still like the Celtics during their rougher years, for example. I also think she'd appreciate some of the flashier, more aggressive and stylish teams, whichever those are. In tennis, she'd be a diehard Federer fangirl.

 

Rarity: I see stadium/audience quality and atmosphere, as well as uniform quality having a lot to do with her choices. Probably teams mainly located in the Northeast.

 

Fluttershy: The minor league team that Applejack supports because there's nobody else in the stands and that kind of atmosphere is Fluttershy's jam.

 

Spike: Shameless bandwagoner who mercilessly gloats to Twilight when her teams lose to his, not that she really cares much . Tends to have a few favorite players rather than favorite teams, and just supports the teams those players happen to play for. There's something of a method to the bandwagoning.

I could simultaneously see RD being a Packers fan then as well considering that team's massive history and the camaraderie the entire team's culture tends to promote (though by that criteria as well I could just as easily see her being a Pittsburgh Steelers fan considering they have a very similar culture, history, and fanbase, plus I could totes see her digging the Terrible Towels of that team  ).  Still, canon is on my side considering, to date, Dash is still the only character to wear a cheesehead.
