What's the problem with EQG?

Under it all, Twilight Sparkle isn't the Twilight Sparkle from FIM. This Twilight Sparkle starts off by having everything strong about her stripped away leaving a vulnerable weak version. She has no magic, her thinking is different from FIM, falling for a boy because she's so vulnerable, and no checklist.

The plot was a generic "We must win the School Dance/Popularity Contest/Battle Of The Bands/Sports Contest/Other Contest" plot with ponies duct-taped to the front.

Heck, they could replace the ponies with Dragon Ball and it would still be the same. Goku goes to an alternate universe where there is no Ki and everyone is suddenly in their teens for no reason. The dragon balls/Magical MacGuffin/Maltese Falcon item is the prize for the school popularity contest. Heck, even the Vegeta/Goku scene could have been replicated word-for-word, though with Vegeta either losing because Goku is stronger, or by Vegeta winning because it's technically his first appearance and the first time he's met Goku, and so he's allowed to still be badass.

Let's say that they use an overarching theme in Rainbow Rocks that allows you to reevaluate the first film elevating it and creating a connected character trajectory.

I wonder if that may bring some people around to the 1st film? It wouldn't be the first time McCarthy did this in MLP.

*cough* Twilights Kingdom *cough*

There are quite a few things wrong with the movie.

1. this movie is basicly high school musical but with alittle bit of mlp mixed in

2. they forced the characters in a little too much. ex: granny smith as the lunch lady, Luna being vice principle.

3. Principle celestia.    :wat:

4.lauren faust wanted nothing to do with it. (i wonder why) maybe she thought humanizing the ponies was a bad idea.

even so, it wasnt that bad of a movie.

That was the best part seen what role's the characters would have if Equestria was a school. I hope in rainbow rocks they bring in superintendent Cadence

Lauren Faust's aim was strong female characters who defy conventional gender stereotypes. When you look at how Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer were as characters, it makes sense.

Twilight Sparkle starts off as weak and vulnerable when she goes to the new world. Sunset Shimmer was a weak villain.

High School settings tend to be chalk full of stereotypes.
