  1. Whew! It's been a while between new episodes (and the 2:00am wake up calls) but after almost tempting to throw the remote at the TV again due to Discord getting on my nerves in the season two premiere, I decided to give this episode a chance. Overall, this episode......is absolutely so awesome! The idea of Fluttershy trying to reform Discord into a model citizen was a bit weird for me at first, but in the end it was a perfect fit and it also produced a moment or two, especially the dinner party sequence with a few references and shoutouts to a Disney animated classic film. There was also a few moments in the episode that had me literally shouting at the TV, mainly towards the end of the episode where Fluttershy refused to use her element against Discord and Fluttershy almost going into a full on rage when Discord started to push Fluttershy around. But the moment that made the episode for me was when Discord, after being defeated again was literally in tears. I've never seen a villain literally with tears in their eyes like that and it came as a bit of a shock. That moment in my opinion changed many people's opinions on Discord from being a evil person, to a character that the fans love and respect.
  2. As mentioned before in one of the previous posts, while I'm not surprised about Hasbro going down this path, the real losers out of this will be the fans overseas who often rely on YouTube to get new episodes if the video blocks become a worldwide matter later on. Most of these fans don't have a legal option to view the show at all, or the local broadcaster treats the show with discontent by either producing poor quality official dubs or as in the case of Boomerang airing the show in Australia, playing random episodes of season 1 over and over again with poor picture and sound quality (plus PAL speedup) while the only Pay TV operator in the country that carries the channel charges $160 per month for the privilege. The copyright system in general needs to be reformed or thrown in the bin and rewritten again to cater for a new world of digital distribution. I would like to see something like Hasbro actually setting up a website like one of the out of market sports services (e.g. NHL Gamecenter LIVE or NBL.tv here in Australia) that allows the episodes new and classic to be streamed on a per episode or season pass payment basis. This would also include live legal streaming of new episodes with the social interaction functions (e.g Facebook, Twitter etc) also included in the price. I would certainly pay for a legal streaming option to catch new episodes direct from the US if such a service existed. But sadly those proposed methods are a pipe dream due to broken copyright laws plus things like regional broadcast agreements, exclusivity rights, region lockouts and price gouging being implemented in a digital world.
  3. A lucky escape for me. The hottest day in the history of the state of NSW is over, and my area escaped the full force of the bushfires. Other towns in the region were not so lucky. A smoky and hazy sunset from the Tallong hills: http://twitpic.com/btgtw2

  4. It looks like I may have to prepare for a bushfire emergency in my area soon. Just recieved a text message from the NSW Rural Fire Service: http://twitpic.com/bt6zqj

  5. Thought I give the heads up to those who have downloaded the episode from iTunes that Apple has sent out an email indicating that some copies of the episode may have had some noticeable quality issues and a replacement copy is available to download free of charge. It looks like someone at Hasbro or the Hub has been given a grilling or two over the glitched episodes, and it's starting to look like that the later episodes in this season that may have also been affected may start to get replacement copies.
  6. For me, it has been a year filled with a mixture of triumph and tragedy, but from me it's a Happy New Year and a prosperous 2013.

  7. Whew! After missing the first three minutes of the new episode (slept in, blame my iPad alarm for not going off on time) early this morning, the new episode was a bit of a 50/50 one in my opinion. I mean, it's nice for Spike to get some airtime and a episode of his own and all, but I felt the episode was a bit rushed and incomplete and moved way too fast story wise, not being harsh on the writers of the episode and all. Although the one positive thing that came out of the episode was the little impromptu musical number that Spike sang. Overall, I wouldn't call this a bad episode, nor a good one. For me, it's a split between not being a bad episode, but also it's not a good one in my books and I consider this episode rating wise as a "in-between".
  8. (Sighs)….this will be the first Christmas without my Pop. Come tomorrow it's just not going to be the same without him. One empty spot at the dinner table, one empty place in the heart.

  9. Well......to quote my check in post on GetGlue earlier this morning: "For a pony who has been part of the franchise for 30 years, in many forms, styles, coat colours and personality traits, Applejack hasn't been getting the attention that she deserves in this series." The new episode really brought out Applejack in a new way, and changed my perceptions about her in a space of 30 minutes from being a bottom of the list character, to a mid-card and in most cases, even higher. There were a few notable moments in the episode that really got me a little weepy, mainly Applejack being literally in tears after the barn was ripped to shreds. But if there was one thing that I can say about the episode in terms of a favourite moment, it has to be Applejack finally singing a song of her very own. I can't get that song that out of my head! Especially when I was trying to get some sleep after the episode at 3:00 in the morning! There was also a Mondegreen (misheard lyrics) moment during the song which saw the HaxMega stream chat room explode. Overall, this episode was great and finally showcased Applejack in her true form.
  10. Hmmmm......that sounds a bit strange. What device are you running the game on? I've updated the game on my iPad (3rd Generation) and I haven't encounted any major problems so far. Also the update not only brought a few fixes to the game, but also a special Hearth's Warming theme was also applied to the game as seen here: Does your game look similar to this after applying the update?
  11. Whew! After having to avoid the leaked copies of the episode and spoilers for a few days, I finally got the chance to catch the episode live early this morning. (again 2:00am) Overall, this episode was a bit of a OK one for me, but it isn't considered one of my favourite episodes of the season so far. Although it lived up to the hype, there were a few things that got me a bit offside about the episode itself, mainly Spitfire's laid back personality from the last two seasons undergoing a major overhaul with the new voice and military officer style. I wrote a few tweets during the episode, but this one sums up how I felt about the change: "What the? What in the name of Celestia happened to Spitfire?! Drill sarge? Where’s is her personality?!" Apart from that, the side story of Pinkie waiting at the mailbox was pretty well done and added a bit of humour to the episode.
  12. Well, I'm feeling a whole lot better. Three more days of work left for the year, then a well earned rest.

  13. (Sighs)...my day hasn't gone so well. I've had a very, very bad day. Enough said.

  14. I thought I drop by and give the heads up that the episode is now available to download from the iTunes Store. But, there is a couple of audio issues that have the plagued the iTunes copy. According to a user on the one of the other MLP forums that I regularly visit, they have reported the audio becomes glitched at around the 16:44 mark when Scootaloo is speaking to Princess Luna and instead of the word "Canterlot" being said, a clucking sound can be heard from Scootaloo. From that point, the audio becomes out of sync with the animation. I just wondering if anyone else is having the same issues with their iTunes copy? EDIT: Equestria Daily has just done an article on the audio issues: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2012/12/sleepless-in-ponyville-itunes-issues.html Also as a side note, this isn't the first time that the show has suffered from audio and sync issues. One of the Australian season 1 DVD releases had major sync issues due to the PAL speed up on the episodes.
  15. Wow. I'm having trouble keeping up with which episode is my personal favourite for this season, but this one sure takes the cake! Despite having to wake up at 2:00 in the morning here in Australia just to watch it, in summary, Scootaloo. Enough said. This episode had me watching from start to finish. Some parts of this episode however got me a little creeped out, most notably the nightmare sequences and seeing Scoots scared beyond belief. Although there was a few light hearted moments as well, especially with Sweetie Belle putting on her adorable face and singing! It was also nice to see the softer side of Scoots towards the end of the episode, especially when she was crying, which got me a bit misty eyed as well. Overall, this episode ranks pretty high in my favourites.
  16. I've been playing this game for a while and despite the shortfalls (e.g Gems and the expensive cost of some of the ponies), I have been playing this on a daily basis and have built up a pretty impressive Ponyville. This includes getting the entire mane six ponies (especially Rainbow Dash) and all of the CMC (Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle) and now to I'm working to get the last element activated. My Gameloft Live ID is the same as my forum username (rjrgmc28) if anyone is interested in adding me to the game.
  17. The first MLP:FiM related thing I saw may sound a bit strange to some, but I discovered the show through one of cs188's YouTube Poop videos one night when I was doing some website maintenance. The title of the video is a bit iffy to be posted here in full, but that eight minute video which included Fluttershy deciding to crash (Windows Error) while cheering and three remixed television commercials including a Geico ad with a good sentence splice or two had me in stitches and laughing like crazy. Initially I didn't pay much attention to the video at the time, but I kept coming back to it enough to convince me that this show may not be so bad after all.
  18. Indeed! It may be the strangest way of discovering the show that I know off from memory, but it did the trick in the end! Also as a bit of a side note, before I discovered the YTP vid that cs188 made, I started to see bits and pieces of the show start to appear in my YouTube subscriptions (e.g. liked and favourite videos) from some of my other subscribers a few months beforehand. But I didn't pay enough attention at the time about it until that video came along thereafter and changed everything. Apart from that, thanks for the warm welcome everypony!
  19. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Fluttershy How did you find MLP Forums?: I found the site through both Equestria Daily and another forum dedicated to the show known as Bronies Australia. How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: This may sound a bit strange at first, but how I became a fan of the show is an interesting one. It all started back in November 2011 when I was doing some website maintenance work and I was watching some YouTube Poop (video remix style) videos to help pass the time. While I was taking a break, I came across a video from cs188 featuring clips from the show in a remixed format. From there I discovered the 6 to 10 second clips of the show on YouTube, and from there I watched my first episode (Sisterhooves Social) a few days later. Hey everypony, my name is Ronnie. I'm also known through my stage name/on camera role as “RJ”, hence the "RJ" in my username. I'm 27 years of age and I come from a small rural village called Tallong, which is part of the Goulburn Mulwaree/Capital Country area of the state of New South Wales. I became a fan of the show after hitting some rough times in my life. My self esteem was shattered to pieces and I was suffering some major stress and anxiety issues resulting from some hard hitting stuff that happened. This included my Nan passing away three years ago, and very recently my Pop back in May of this year. Ever since I discovered the show back in November of 2011, my life has improved for the better. Outside of the brony community and the show, my main interests/hobbies include photography and video production work, and I'm also a bit of a casual gamer when things get a bit quiet production wise. I also have Aspergers Syndrome (Aspie), a form of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which I've had for most of my life ever since I was around 2 or 3 years old. So there we go. I hope to join in the discussions and make some new friends as well!
