I honestly wish I could have stuck with the end of the show without me hating it. The fact that it actually got me to quit halfway through already makes S9 the worst season for me

I'd say it at least make sense that they'd do an episode addressing Sparity with Spike moving on, but then I remember it all happened off screen, which sorta speaks for itself :/

Problem early on was that they tried to develop what was basically just a boyhood crush
I was honestly annoyed they decided to drag it back up for Best Gift Ever after leaving it untouched after season, what? 4-5?
I think it's an even bigger disservice to write it as if Rarity was the one with the problem and ignore it was a huge issue with Spike from the very start
