  1. Magical Mystery Cure: Not bad, not bad at all. From what I heard I was expecting something pretty bad but in the end I definitely enjoyed this one. The songs were great, each pony of the Mane 6 got some very nice moments, there was some pretty funny scenes as well and the ending... well, I think they did the best they could with what they had to work with. It's great to see that Twilight still stays humble and knows how she only could have gotten this far with her friends. I can't believe though the third season has already ended. It feels like yesterday I first came to know about this series. It was a scene on Youtube with Spike and with Pinkie Pie questioning him. (From the episode "Party of One") Loved the seven-hour bubble bath reference by the way. If I had to make a favorite episode list based on season 3 it would probably look like this: 1. "Wonderbolts Academy" 2. "Sleepless in Ponyville" 3. "Magical Mystery Cure" 4. "Keep Calm and Flutter On" 5. "Just For Sidekicks" ---- (Considerable gap with the other episodes) 6. "One Bad Apple" 7. "The Crystal Empire" (part 1/2) 8. "Magic Duel" 9. "Apple Family Reunion" 10. "Games Ponies Play" 11. "Spike at Your Service" 12. "Too Many Pinkie Pies"
  2. I really tried to enjoy this episode but I just couldn't get into it. The mistaken identity plot is already a bit cliché to start with but if executed well can be pretty enjoyable. Unfortunately for me personally that didn't happen in this episode. The episode never really seemed to pick up steam, giving mostly the feeling that it was just dragging on, expecting some surprises/developments that just never came. It dragged on and the payoff at the end was very unstatisfying. A cheap plottwist to quickly fill the last minutes. The episode just didn't go anywhere. I also found all the characters too calm given the situation, especially Twilight who seems to become more generic and boring as this season went on. I know she's growing up and becoming more experienced but for some reason she's also losing some of the qualities that made her unique. Rainbow Dash was pretty unlikeable in this episode, sometimes even being a jerk. There were some good points though. Some jokes were done well and RD crashing into the glass or the inspector dragging her luggage and then getting soaked in water were funny. Too bad her role was so small. My main problem was that the Mane 6 messed up but got off very easy, too easy. I just wish they could have spend a little more time to resolve that situation. Overall alright for a one-time watch, but this episode definitely ranks as one of the lowest for me in the third season.
  3. Just watched the latest episode. It was a good one although not the best in the series. IMHO definitely one of the better Spike episodes though. (Best for me still "Secret of my excess". The first half was especially good. I laughed several times and loved those moments with Zecora and Granny. Second half started to drag a bit but overall still got the job done. Animation was also especially good this episode.
  4. That was a great episode, the ending was perhaps a bit rushed, but the realization was executed well. I liked how Discord was playing Fluttershy, yet in the end it was Fluttershy who had been playing Discord. I also liked how right from the start Discord was planning ahead with the beavers and taking away all the reform/back-up spells from Twilight books. Awesome episode, and with many great and funny moments. For me personally the best episode from Dave Polsky yet.
  5. Depends a bit on my mood. Most of the time orange juice, but sometimes apple juice or a glass of water. Usually I drink orange juice with pulp because I heard it's healthier, although I like orange juice without pulp more.
  6. This is a very good thread, and one I can definitely relate with. There were several episodes in the past I couldn't even bring myself to watch as I was worried it would be so different from what I was expecting/hoping for. I guess in a way I was worried to be disappointed if I watched the episode. I remember I delayed watching "The last roundup" for at least six weeks before finally watching it. (I didn't like Applejack as much back then and I was worried my view would become more negative because I felt she was too arrogant/unlikeable in some episode before) Afterwards it became one of my favorite episodes of the series and Applejack definitely one of my favorite characters. I also have to be careful not letting my expectations for the next episode getting the best off me. Luckily there are many MLP episodes I could watch in the weekends to ease the wait, but I have to say waiting for the episode of January 19th is pretty hard at times.
  7. Finally had a chance to watch the episode as well. I can say it was not one of my favorites, but overall still entertaining. The main plot about Spike's "Dragon Code" was dragged out too much and felt forced, but I do understand why Spike was hammering on it so much. He's still young, and as shown earlier he really wants to have his own identity. I can understand that because, when I was younger, there were certain things or people I wanted to be or act like as well. The clumsy scenes were dragged out too much, felt forced and were slightly annoying, but again understandable because Spike is used to the Library, and has no experience at all with farm life or working at other people's homes. The second half was a lot better IMO, especially the interactions between the Mane 6 were well done. Fluttershy seemed especially clear of mind in this episode. Rainbow Dash doing a Timberwolf call was random, yet she's exactly the kind of pony who would practice such a sound. Especially loved the scene with the rocks, bonus points for RD for going through with it and not backing out. Loved how Applejack tried to get Twilight's attention as well. An alright but entertaining episode. Had some great moments, some good and unfortunately also some bad. Not a real favorite, but not the "worst" for me in this series either.
  8. Personally I enjoyed "Sleepless in ponyville" and "Wonderbolt Academy" the most. IMHO both were well-written episodes which gave room to some good character development for both Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash.
  9. My age was one of the reasons I hold off on joining a forum, as I was a bit worried about being older. I'm 30, turning 31 in March. It's nice to know there other people from my age as well. It really shows what a great show this is, being able to attract people from all ages.
  10. I'm not really good with introductions but I just wanted to say hello. You know, if anyone would have told me two years ago I would be watching a series named MLP I would probably have laughed a bit. But now, I can say I've really become a fan. I've been following this series for over a year now, but I never really participated in a community (Except for a very nice community/fanclub on Narutofan) or forum. I've known the MLP forums for some time now, often reading topics and staying up-to-date with new information, but today I really wanted to be a part of this great community as well. I live in the Netherlands, my favorite pony (but they are all great) is Rainbow Dash, a few of my favorite episodes are "Return of Harmony", "Lesson Zero", "The Last Roundup and "Wonderbolt Academy." I hope to have a great time here on these forums. and I'll do my best to be an active member here.
  11. Personally I wouldn't really say the quality is going downhill, although I can't shake the feeling things are becoming different. I'm not as excited anymore about these new episodes as I was in previous seasons. The best episodes for me so far this season were Wonderbolt Academy and Sleepless in Ponyville. I didn't really enjoy episodes like "Crystal Empire", "Too many Pinkie Pies" and "Magic Duel". (Haven't watched the latest episode yet) At first I thought I was growing out of the series, but I'm still enjoying my favorite episodes of previous seasons a lot. I'm going to watch a few of them each saturday to fill the gap until the next episode. I do agree some things feel different, but I can't really describe why.
