I loved the MLP movie. I honestly don't love it as much as the actual show for many reasons. Primarily, because most of the movie, not including a few aspects such as Tempest Shadow, just didn't feel as deep or touching as many episodes from the show have felt, probably because this was more focused on trying to "appeal to a broader audience" which is an unfortunate but common mindset because it makes lots of money. I also don't love the art style as much as the show's. That aside, I still loved and enjoyed the movie and I'm very much looking forward to season 8, as well as the upcoming Equestria Girls series.

Oh yeah, and I really really did not like how Sia and other pop culture / celebrity nonsense was shoehorned into the movie. That's by far probably what I'm most critical of. I could write a very long word wall explaining why I don't want Sia or other mega celebs shoved into the franchise, but to put it shortly, pop singers like Sia are not good people, they are not even remotely good role models for children and they probably couldn't care less about MLP or its values as long as they get their paycheck. I'm particularly disgruntled with Sia because they had to give her the movie's denouement song instead of allowing it to be a song sang by one or more of the main characters that have been a part of the show for so many years. Sia getting that moment instead disrespects the show's many talented voice actors and actresses who have been with the series for years, as well as the characters themselves that are such a huge part of making MLP what it is.

Yeah, all that fuss with Sia just for one song that the movie could easily go without.
My critical thoughts about the movie, the bad ones as well as the good ones, can be found in the comments under Ashley H's video on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDvVWLTQDRY (posted as Bon Bon).
