  1. I'm having trouble being detailed when interacting with another character. @ActFast231, how do? Also, I see what you're doing, and I approve.
  2. @@ActFast231 Maple smiled at Max, and took his hoof. She lowered herself gingerly. "Thank you.", she said. She decided to walk alongside him to the hotel. He seemed very friendly! She had barely even noticed the carriage moving while they were talking, and the ride didn't seem to take more than a few minutes! It was very much fun talking to him. She looked back at the ponies in the carriage. "Maybe we should wait for them?" she said, "Or perhaps we could also wait inside."
  3. Alright, I responded to @ActFast231 . I'm not sure if I did it correctly. Is that how you're supposed to converse in forum RP's? With short posts? I tried to make some sort of pun with mine, but couldn't think of one, so I just made it about her colour scheme. I changed it so she calls it a sweater-thing to express her confusion as just about what it is. Also, the classiest of coats is the trench coat. And if not classy, then it's at least bad-ass. Fedoras are awesome though, and it does go well with your coat.
  4. @ActFast231 Maple lifted her head at the sound of the pegasus's voice. He wore a rusted-red fedora, and had a nice light-green tint of hair to match with his fur. This is all Maple allowed herself to observe, in fear of spacing out yet again. "Uh, hullo," she started, pacing herself. "My name's Maple. Maple Sands. I'm an author." She glanced at the other ponies beside and in front of her, and thought aloud, "I wasn't aware that there were other ponies coming along...we're all going to the Bellagio, right?" She lifted her hoof for a friendly hoofshake.
  5. There. Hope that post is alright. I had her break out of spacing out, and then board the carriage. I hope I wrote it convincingly enough. Also, if it wasn't clear, I was talking about Max and Phil Noir. Nice OC name, BTW, LeJAKoJAK. So, what now?
  6. Maple shook her head, flustered. How long had she been staring at that carriage? She felt like an idiot. There were already someponies on the vehicle, which, she figured, had undoubtedly given her some strange glances as they passed by. She even felt the stallions pulling the cart give her an intense stare, but she didn't dare look up to confirm it. Some first impression that was. They seemed to be ignoring her, which probably meant that she had been out a considerable amount of time. She had had one of those moments- just spacing out. She did that sometimes, but mostly when she focused on something, but not like...this. She'd been thinking of the city she had currently found herself in. It was nothing like she had seen before, and she was wondering just what sort of things she could do with this type of setting in some new creation of hers... but that was where her train of thought stopped. She looked up at the carriage, seemingly towering above her head, and, seeing no other alternative, she placed her hoof on the door, and turned it. She pulled the door to reveal a four ponies sitting there, waiting. She gave a nervous smile at them, then stepped inside. She took a seat, and then hung her head low. She tried to keep her snout shut to stop her from assaulting these ponies with excuses as she strained her eyes to look at them while she had her head down. She wasn't able to see much, what with her mane covering her eyesight, but she managed to notice the features of two ponies. One of them had a rather dark coat, and a grey fur to match. He seemed to have a strong, firm build. She chuckled internally at the thought that he could have been ripped straight out of a classic police film and nopony would notice. The other seemed to be a pegasus, wearing what was seemed like a red sweater. Judging by the colour of his wings... Oh damn it, she was spacing out again.
  7. Nevermind. I'll have to pay for my inactivity. Maple is going to realize what happened, and then enter the carriage.
  8. CRAPCRAPCRAPCRAPCRAP You guys had to be active JUST as I went to sleep, didn'tya!? ugh...let me think of something... Sorry... Just pretend I have already boarded the carriage, alright?! I'll make a post soon... About what time is everyone here active, so I can time my sleeping schedule?
  9. You didn't have other brushes? Huh. I've been experimenting and scouring the internet for different types of brushes for a little while to achieve different effects on my drawings. I've checked your DA, and I have to say, you have some really great stuff there. I'm rather surprised you didn't use any custom brushes. Also, you are not a noob, that's for certain.
  10. I never really noticed that it was grainy, since I drew on a large canvas, but I tried it again on a smaller canvas and I see what you mean. It does look a bit better without the paper texture. Thanks! Heh, I feel like such a nerd, discussing topics like this like I know what I'm talking about. I'm really interested in everyone's brushes and techniques, though.
  11. That's the effect I was trying to go for! Also, by Talos do not use the same brush size as me, ever. I draw on a huge canvas. I always start on a 2000x2000 canvas and then crop my pic after it's done.
  12. Glad I could spark some interest! It was no problem, Revenant. I only got into airbrushes today. Also, I tried your brush, but I don't really think it works for me. I'm not sure how to say it, but it just doesn't feel right. From the picture you showed, though, it looks like you know a thing or two about colouring. Mind sharing your technique and/or brushes?
  13. : Mind sharing your own brush? @Scootaloo : IT'S JUST FUN Well, the main reason is because it's very smooth. It's also not as messy as some other brushes.
  14. @zRevenantz sure! Here's another one! This one is very nice for sketching! It looks like you're working with a pencil when you use this. . EDIT: That's a pencil, of course.
  15. ALRIGHT GUYS Take a look at this bad-ass brush for SAI Just create a new airbrush, change the settings to the one above, and BOOM, you're set! By Celestia's beard, this is so damn FUN to use! It's perfect for lineart too! I recommend changing the stability to S-3 while using it, but feel free to tweak the settings as you see fit!
  16. Croip. I was just about to take the Ambrosia path. Damn you, Dawn Rider. Damn you in the friendliest way possible.
  17. Welp, most of the people in my RP don't seem to be online, so I'm gonna go draw some ponies. Seeya guys that bother to read statuses later.

    1. ActFast231

      ActFast231

I think I will do that to. I can draw, but I cant color worth sh*t

    2. Zygen

      Zygen

Later :). Good luck with your pony drawings!

  18. I agree! Writing stories like this is actually quite fun and it isn't hard at all to write. I suppose I could also join in on those sorts of RPs, but I still want to warm up with these sorts of RPs though. Also, don't take my word as fact, all I told you is mostly speculation.
  19. I think advanced RPs require for you to go into detail about what your character does in the roleplay, painting an image with words, like how I tried to do it in what I posted. Advanced RPs are for dedicated, expert roleplayers, it seems. Also, it seems like I linked the wrong thread. The one where the action is at is this one: http://mlpforums.com/topic/54892-the-house-always-wins-rp/#entry1310496
  20. And done. Posted. I hope it's up to standard. Also, @ActFast231, J.L might have posted the RP on the wrong section. The 800 Characters rule applies to advanced roleplays. The other roleplays have 200 characters. Here's where the action is at: http://mlpforums.com/topic/55042-the-house-always-wins-rp/
  21. Maple leaned her head against the open window, surveying the buildings moving toward and away from her as the train chugged through the city. It had slowed down considerably since a few hours ago. She tries to take mental note of any landmarks that could help her move around the city, but the whole place was practically full of vibrant colours and beautiful buildings. The whole city was full of landmarks. She gave up her attempts at trying to map the city in her mind, and thought about what was to come. She had been quite skeptical when she first received the letter, but upon confirming its legitimacy, she was bouncing off the walls, filled to the brim with pure excitement. She could barely sleep that night. It was moments like those that she loved, just moments of pure childishness. She had just been offered a one-of-a-time offer that she could not refuse! She wondered if maybe the owner wanted to talk about her novels, or maybe- No time to finish that thought. She could see what seemed to be a train station- which was also needlessly over-decorated- in the distance. She stood up, and prepared her saddlebag, an oak-coloured bag with an image of the Canterlot Royal typewriter that she used to write her stories. Fastening a strap, her ears perked up to catch the sound of the train's whistle. She stood up and walked toward the door. The train reached a slow and steady stop. Maple tripped a little, and caught herself with the door. She chuckled at her own clumsiness as she opened the door, stepped outside into the hallway, and to where she had first entered on the train. Maple stood at the exit, took a deep breath (then regretted it, as the train was still belching steam) and then stepped outside... That was when she realized that she did not know where to go.
  22. After the first person posts, I will as well, so I know whether it's before or after the train ride. If it's before, the characters could get to know each other on the ride.
  23. Yeah, there's some trouble with the first post's formatting. Are we supposed to respond with our characters just reading the letter, or do we still wait for something else to be posted in the thread?
  24. Hullo, Ms. Snickers! Thanks for having me! You already know my OC: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/maple-sands-r2895 Looking forward to playin' withye!
  25. Hmm, that's true... I was thinking of smaller prizes, but even then... An OC that represents the entire site would be smart. But I'm still behind the idea of different ponies for different genres. Like I said, I'm willing and able to design these characters. Though I know this isn't about just me, but I can't really think of other artists that would dedicate themselves to do this as well, though to be fair I barely know any. I have a few in mind, though I'd have consult with them (They're not on the forums). All I can say for sure is, you can count on my support.
