  2. Scott Baio thinks Jesus should be Employee of the Month?
  3. "Say, how do you like this sunrise? Yeeeeep, that was totally me."
  4. "My hair is made of brass knives...and I've got a scary-looking guy looking over my shoulder. Right! From now on, I stay away from the acid!"
  5. "Oooooh...is that an Analytical Engine?" *drools* OT: Steampunk Ninja, I just love the Robo-Sweetie Belle in your sig. I want one, especially if she squeaks when she talks.
  6. OT: Rape Is Not Funny. Caption: "DISCOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRD!"
  7. I've already submitted my alicorn OC for judgment (see post #23 above). I think it is a false generalization to say that all alicorn OC's are horrible, even if mine doesn't quite "make the cut" of being considered a good character by others. While the alicorn character concept is very easy to do badly, it would be just as easy to make a ridiculously over-powered earth pony. Since the concept of the "Mary Sue" is pretty central to this discussion, I think this article, which explains the sexist underpinnings of the concept, is relevant.
  8. It just occurred to me that he can't even introduce himself to anypony without lying, because "Hi, I'm Trickster" would tend to get in the way of pulling a good con. Nice touch, if that was intentional. I think it would be fun to RP with him, though I might be inclined to dig out my gaming dice and use them for Will and Intelligence rolls as a way to undermine my biases as a player. An interaction between him and Sunyatay Sutra could be pretty interesting. Her 'talent' is uncontrolled invisibility and intangibility. It would would be devastating in Trickster's hooves, if a pony doesn't have to see him in order to have their powers drained. He'd probably have a pretty hard time getting her to look him in the eye though. As to whether she'd figure out/sense what he was doing, or be able to look away if she did, that'd be what I'd be inclined to roll for. If you do enter an RP with him, or write any fanfics about him, please let me know. I'd like to participate, or read.
  9. Fascinating character! The drawings really match his backstory and personality! Or vice versa. I like his curved horn. It's unique, and adds a...well...twist to his appearance that is very fitting. His power sits neatly on the knife-edge of being over- and under-powered. Probably better for fanfics than RP's, because in RP's he might either just mow through everypony nomming on their powers like Sylar from Heroes, or, if the other players are inexperienced, end up being under-powered ("Bloodletter Knifehooves senses wat u r doing!" "So does Princess Everymagic!" "Yeah, so does Glimmer Powderhorn!" "Glimmer? I didn't see you're OC in the OOC thread." "What's 'OOC?'"). I wouldn't really call that a flaw in his design though. Anyway, well done! /)*
  10. "I got my cutie mark playing Neverwinter Nights. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game franchise. But...I wish I could have gotten something...you know, a little more...versatile? Broadly applicable?"
  11. For some strange reason, I just found this hilarious. I'm still laughing. CHRYSALIS: "Brag, brag, brag, brag! Bwahahahahaha--" CELESTIA: *backstab!* CHRYSALIS: "--AAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaah...." *collapses twitching into a puddle of green bug juice* MANE 6: MILLIONS OF LITTLE GIRLS: MILLIONS OF LITTLE GIRLS' PARENTS: RAINBOW DASH (looking queasily at the green blood dripping from Celestia's horn): "Uh...alright, Princess?" BRONIES: "Whelp. Guess we gotta add "CelestiAssassin" to her list of monikers. She's getting pretty damn scary this season!" Anyway, given that she's basically an idealized medieval monarch, she's probably operating under a code of honor that wouldn't allow for a sneaky assassination move, especially in public. Her subjects would expect her to stay "clean," and would have lost all respect for her if she'd gone for the cheap shot.
  12. "I don't have hands, so I have to flip you the bird like this."
  13. "I! Am! Starswirl! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!" Ninja! "Actually, I'm Pinkie Pie, silly!" -or- "EIGHT BITS!"
  14. Sweet! Can you do that via PM, or do you need an email address? I just got a Wacom Create tablet, but I need more time with it before I'll be able to sketch stuff the way I can with pencil and paper. Do you use the pencil or paintbrush tool and draw freehand, or do you use the pen tool?
  15. WOOHOOO! There just aren't enough brohoofs to give for this! XD Yes, her CM is a pony skull, and I love your version. Just curious, what tech/programs do you use to make these sketches? Also, would you object to me tinkering with coloring and the like, as long as I retain your copyright notice? Truly awesome sketch. And FAST! I wish I could turn out OC drawings of such quality at such speed!
  16. Merywset's heart broke. It seemed that the very existence of ponies, the entire proper order of the world, had been forgotten. The alicorn who was kin to spiders seemed to know more. A bright yellow and black alicorn came, and his knowledge was greater still. As they spoke amongst themselves, the shock of the ponies' demise tore at her, and tears ran down her cheeks. "They are not strange 'creatures,'" Merywset said. "They are the true ponies. It is Ma'at that they should be numerous, and our kind rare. It is our place to govern the celestial powers for them...the cycles of day and night and the seasons...to keep monsters and forces of chaos at bay...to protect them," she said, her voice cracking. "To create a safe Realm for them to live their lives. For their lives are brief as the blossoming of the lotus, only a few tens of years. But like the lotus...their lives are meant to be beautiful...to give joy to all who behold them." With a flap of her wings, Merywset rose from her ark, then settled gently on her feet next to the other alicorns. "Forgive me," she said to the two males. "I am Merywset. In ancient times, I was Neferu-Merywset, Princess of the Two Lands, Kemare't, land of pyramids and mighty temples. For three thousand years, I called the Sun forth from his horizon in the East, and laid him to rest in the West. Then the time came for my own setting. During a time of many wars, I trained my best unicorn mages to raise the Sun so that I could lead Kemare't's armies in the field. But in time, a generation of unicorns rose who did not remember me, and those who governed, and their subjects, came to accept the new pony empire that then ruled. It was never my place or my right to impose my rule upon ponies. I withdrew so they could pursue their own path. In time, a new Sun-Princess, one known as Celestia came, and her sister, the 'Luna' you spoke of. So far as I could tell, she reigned in accordance with Ma'at, so I never contested her right to the Sun. For a thousand years she reigned. "Then...adventurers and seekers of mystery stopped trying to find my hidden temple where I lived, to pry out its treasures, or its secrets. I thought...that it was me, and the legends of my temple that had been thoroughly lost, and forgotten. Not the ponies themselves. It is not Ma'at. I have failed them. Failed at the very purpose of my existence."
  17. In a move that outraged Transformer fans and the brony community alike, Hasbro released a toy line that merged the two popular franchises, beginning with Transformer F-22 Fighter/Alicorn Twilight, and Filly-Cannon Starscream (pictured). Michael Bay has announced plans to release a new feature film, Transformers: Equestria Bots next summer...
  18. Hmmm. I'm interested to see what people think of my alicorn OC Neferu-Merywset. I created her for two RP's, one that's specifically for alicorn characters, the other to fill the alicorn "Pharaoh" slot for a pony ancient Egypt setting. Going through Wheatley Core's list: Overpowered: For most RP's...yeah. I haven't really gotten into the kind of games where "power" is much of an issue (combat-oriented games, etc.) yet. Has a broken horn or wings: No, her horn and wings are intact. Neon colors: No. Royalty: In ancient times, yes; canon eras, no. Related to the Mane 6: No. In canon times, she lives a secluded life and has not met them (yet). I think "create a good alicorn character" represents an interesting writing challenge, so I'd like to get some feedback on whether I succeeded or not.
  19. I love your work! Could you please do Nephthys Nightshade for me? Thanks in advance! There's a reference image at her link. If you want I can post another one in a few hours when I get home.
  20. "Hmmm...what we did...just then...it was wonderful!"
  21. When Twilight's "turn an orange into a toad" spell missed and hit Sweetie Belle. (Result: poor Sweetie Belle croaked)
  22. "OK meow. Why don't you get out your license and registration meow."
  23. Merywset looked at the picture. It had been made in the modern way, with a machine; but it was now faded and decaying, like the building in which it had been found. "My apologies. I do not recognize any of these ponies. Why do you say that they are 'odd looking?'" she asked. Aside from their foreign mane-styles and the hat one of them wore, they seemed normal enough. Except perhaps, for the pink one. She was unusually bright with joy, and more than the others she seemed to be looking through the surface of the picture as if she might somehow bound right out of it.
