Huh, I ate waffles for a long time and they still taste very good, even in my teens.

My family had a Sunday tradition for the longest time:  our grandma had this waffle recipe that was really good, and we'd eat it for supper.  At some point, we switched to pancakes, but I kind of miss her recipe a little; it was (if I recall correctly):

6 eggs
1 cup of cottage cheese (the secret ingredient)
1/2 cup flour (wheat flour, but they were still delicious)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla

I'm surprised you don't like waffles made with wheat flour; I had them most of my childhood and loved them!  Though maybe having this much egg in the batter masked the cardboardiness...?

Hmmm dunno what it was. I do like wheat pancakes but not so much with waffles.
