      It has a great moral about how people can work together regardless of gender and culture.

       

      That said, it has some problems. Celly and Luna were walking exposition. The pacing isn't all that tight. Garble is still a stereotype. Torch's reasons for stepping down were "just because."

       

      And for Spike, this is easily his most positive role in a centric episode. He needed a challenge, and his ability to spread his appreciation for others carries over to Ember.

      Not to mention Spike isn't once patronized by any of the characters who know him. Twilight and Rarity are there to support him, but they never once say, "I don't know Spike, I think you're in over your head." They totally support him and what he's trying to do 110% of the way.

      Is it the best Spike episode? I don't know. Currently, I believe it belongs to Inspiration Manifestion. But Gauntlet of Fire is really close.
