  1. Alright, I'm going to try this again... I hear a lot of film critics say that they put Snow White among the greatest films ever made. I don't know if I would go that far, but it certainly is one of the most important films ever. This is the film that would influence many filmmakers and animators for decades to come, and set the standard for what an animated film should look like. Though Snow White may have its flaws, it certainly is a film that everyone and his brother should see at least once. So, what do I like about Snow White? The animation is one of the best parts about it. It is outstanding given the time period it was made. It has the beautiful, bright colors that any fairy tale should have, but it also exceeds in the darker colors during the more intense and somber scenes. Certain color palettes can invoke some of the strongest emotions in us, and films with fantasy settings tend to use numerous palettes to invoke both strong positive and negative emotions. Snow White takes advantage of all of them. Also, the way each scene is drawn makes you feel like you're reading the fairy tale book. What else do I like? Well, the comedy is great! The dwarves make this film so enjoyable for me. I'm a big lover of slapstick comedy, especially in cartoons. It's always great when comedic scenes like the "Silly Song" scene can make you laugh as a kid and as an adult. Also, the dwarves have great character. Each one represents the emotion they are named after, and they display those emotions very well. My two favorites are Dopey and Grumpy. Dopey has me laughing hard every time I watch him. His facial expressions are brilliantly animated! Grumpy has the strongest character, the most dynamic, and is the one I can relate with most. I'm sure he is the one most people can relate with most. We all love it when we get to see his soft, vulnerable side. The Evil Queen, besides the dwarves as a whole, is also my favorite character. She shows her reserved and menacing side, while also her more goofy and scenery-chewing side, and both sides contrast each other so well. As for Snow White herself, I think she could have been a much stronger character. If I'm going to get invested in a female protagonist like Snow White, I want her to be a bit more interesting than she's portrayed. I know that she's the kind, helpful, head-in-the-clouds type, but that's all I see. I believe that every character who is the "kind" type, must have at least one scene where they get really angry to show some dynamics to their character. We see her being firm, but still she doesn't sound that firm. Even Fluttershy is more firm than Snow White is! Still, I give her a pass. As for the Prince, it's laughable how little there is to him! We hardly even see him, let alone hear him say anything. I guess...he was drawn to be charming, not have character. Overall, Snow White is a wonderful film that I've seen many times, and I'm sure I'll many times more.
  2. For Disney's first animated film, it impresses me on many levels. It's enjoyable, fun, intense, and all-around magical. STORY: While the story is extremely predictable, being that it's based on a famous fairy tale, I still love watching it from beginning to end. The story is propelled through the wonderful animation, which is still amazing to behold even to today's standards. CHARACTERS: Snow White - While I think that Snow White could be a much stronger character, I still like her. She just seems a bit too dainty and vulnerable. Evil Queen - Besides the dwarves as a whole, the queen is what makes this film so enjoyable. To me, there are two types of great villains: 1) The kind that is reserved but very menacing by their presence, and 2) the kind that are more comedic, and love chewing up the scenery. This villain gets to be both types! They couldn't have gotten a more perfect voice actress too. Dwarves - These dwarves are my favorite part of the movie. I laughed with them when I was little and I laugh with them just as much today. Doc is great the he way mixes up his words. Happy is happy! Bashful is great when he turns red and says, "Oooooooh, gooooooooorsh." Sneezy has the funniest sneeze I've ever heard. Sleepy, I guess is the weakest because he hardly has anything to say. It's funny whenever that fly is around him. Dopey is the funniest character in the movie! Grumpy is definitely the strongest character in the whole movie. I would also say, seeing the countless Grumpy merchandise Disney has released, he's the most relatable. Prince Charming - Sigh. He was drawn to be charming, not have character.
  3. While driving toward home from vacation, I saw a car with an Idaho licence plate that read FLTRSHY! Anybody know who might own this car?
  4. These are the anime characters most favorited on anime-planet.com. What are more of your favorite anime characters?
  5. Anybody playing FF: Record Keeper? I've recently been playing with Lvl. 44 Cloud, Lvl. 27 Locke, Lvl. 41 Celes, Lvl. 44 Rydia, and Lvl. 44 Aerith.
  6. Wow! Is there really no topic thread for Final Fantasy at all? There must be! Well, anyway... What are some of your favorite things about any of the FF games?
  7. I knew "bmv" sounded too awkward to be true. Thanks!
  8. These are my electronic "interpretations" of two of the most famous classical pieces ever written (MIDI performance/composition credit goes to R. Diodati and Petr Cvikl). I mainly want to work on sound mixing and mastering, and I would very much like your advice on how to get the most out of electronic sounds like these. Advice on parametric EQ, frequency, compression, etc would be the most helpful. Thank you and enjoy! Toccata & Fugue in D Minor (BWV 565) - J.S. Bach Beethoven's 6th: Allegro ma non troppo - Ludwig van Beethoven
  9. If you could enter Equestria in a vrmmorpg (virtual reality massively multiplayer online role-playing game) would you ever want to return to the real world?
  10. It's hard to explain, but sometimes a random thought of something will randomly pop in my head, perhaps something nostalgic or just plain heartwarming, and I'll get this overwhelming feeling of joy and peace. Sometimes, it's so overwhelming that I want to weep. Do you ever get that once in a while?
  11. I'd like to know any games, TV shows, or anime/manga with a strong rainbow/multicolored theme to it. I know that MLP and Rainbow Brite are obvious, but do you know any others?
  12. If there was a non-profit, fan-based musical featuring all the great video game and anime characters, what would the story be about and which characters would you want in it?

  16. Nirvana - I just never got how their music became so legendary. Their music is pretty good at best. I also don't understand how Smells Like Teen Spirit can be so highly regarded as one of the great staples of rock n roll history.
  17. I for one have always found him funny, full of ingenious insight toward bad films and film in general, and I always look forward to his videos. However, I also know there are those who can't stand him and his comedy, which is understandable. What do you think of him?
  18. Quite honestly, Some of the most heartwarming moments in any game for me (even though my gaming experience is very limited) is whenever a Koji Kondo composition starts playing in a Mario or Zelda game. All of his music makes my heart melt every time...except the Ikana Valley theme, that just gives me nightmares every time. I also love it whenever Mario and Luigi or Link and Zelda have their moments together. Even though I'm not entirely familiar with the Final Fantasy series, I'm sure there are moments that make even the most hardcore gamers ball their eyes out and keel over in heartwarm-overload. What are some of your favorite heart-warming moments in gaming?
  19. I downloaded the Winzip evaluation version, then tried mounting the zip file there . All I got was this message: "Fatal error: This file appears to be incomplete or it constitutes one disc of a spanned Zip file. Please insert the last disc of the spanned set and try the operation again." Anyone familiar with this message?
  20. When you think about it, a lot of the best games ever made have really gripping and engaging stories. They make us want to play the next game in the series all the more. So what are some of your favorite games that have epic stories/plotlines?
  21. Anyone having trouble unzipping? I'm trying to download the zip file via Mac, but it says that the contents cannot be extracted. Can anyone help me out here?
  22. I haven't seen any episodes, but I keep hearing amazing things about this show. What makes it great? The story, humor, animation, all of the above?
