    This again?  He understood the kind of power Onyx had, but this was painful to experience without even being damaged.  With that in mind, Copper stood his ground, tapping into just a tiny bit more power in order to punch through the boulders that were coming towards him.  However, Topaz's comment caught him off guard, and when he looked at the announcer in shock, he got smacked by a boulder.  "Ow..." he muttered before springing back up, again without Topaz counting.  He cricked his neck, then checked his muzzle.  Good thing no blood since he was looking at Topaz.

    "Impressive. Onyx might be able to finish this fight as he is. That is, as long as Copper keeps up this poor preformance," Rokata commented.

    "Looks like we have a solid hit, ponies, but no blood to speak of yet!" Topaz commented. She sounded a tad disappointed. She stepped back as Onyx hurled a slab of concrete at Copper, then followed it up by charging right at him to deliver a powerful blow to the chest.

    He could tell his opponent was holding back, which wasn't really surprising to the Earth Pony.  He was still holding back himself, despite the overwhelming surge of power he showcased.  Like his own attacks, Onyx's would be blocked, but some would connect, and that made Copper back off for now.  At his current state it wasn't hurting as much, but he could feel some pain at the moment.

    @Unicorncob

    "They're both just testing the waters. The first fighter to show their real strength might gain an early advantage." Quill Weave commented.

    "Or reveal their weaknesses too early," Shining Armor commented.

    When Copper backed away, Onyx didn't persue. He stood his ground with one hand curled into a fist and the other wide open. He spread his stance, making himself into a steady bulwark. Then, without warning. He lifted another massive slab of concrete and hurled it at Copper. This time he didn't let up, immediately following it with another projectile, then another, slinging a constant barrage of boulders at the earth pony. Many of them were hurled into the audience, creating explosions of debris wherever they landed.

    "I can't tell if this is an accident or if the contestants keep attacking the audience on purpose, though that does make the pain more widespread, and I do like that!" Topaz commented.

    @Unicorncob @dragon4111 @reader8363 @Dynamo Pad

    Shining Armor created a shield around his team to protect them from any debris, that way none of them would have to waste energy protecting themselves.

    @Arid_Blitz

    One section of concrete landed near the members of teams Tatterhoof, Lockdown and Crimos who were watching the fight, blasting a few audience member sitting a few rows beside them but not harming any of of the former contestants.

    "Good seats these." Cumulus commented.

    Onyx moved with Copper's assault, bocking when he could, but some of Copper's strikes managed to hit his muscular chest. It felt like Copper was punching at a brick wall, but it was in fact far more durable than any hoofmade structure. Without putting enough magical energy behind his strikes, Copper wouldn't get far against this behemoth.

    Onyx punched back, striking less often but with more power behind his punches. Something felt fake about his attacks, however. It was like when Onyx first attacked copper in the forest. Even though his strikes were more than powerful enough to be fatal, his fists glowing with a firey red aura, he was holding something back.

    Copper simply stood there, his fiery aura un-fazed by this attack.  He waited for the right moment to counter attack, and when it happened, He aimed a head-butt at the Minotaur's chest, barely scraping the elbow attack.  If connected, this attack would be far more powerful than what would be anticipated, and also, if connected, would send Onyx right back to where he started.

    The minotaur opened his right palm to catch Copper's head in his palm. There was a meaty thud as his fist curled around the earth pony's forhead. The minotaur was sent back a few feet from the force of the blow. His hooves digging into  the concrete base of the ring and leaving an earthy trail as he slid back. He let go of Copper's hoof and squared off against him again. Neither fighter had scored an actual blow.

    "Onyx certainly has improved since I first fought him. He never could have taken Copper back then," Rokata said with a smile.

    "You see? Don't ever underestimate the power of one's hatred for us," Mason added.

    Onyx widened his stance with both palms open, then he reached down and dug his fingers into the concrete base of the arena. The giant pulled up an entire segment of the ground, four feet in diameter and several feet deep. It must have weighed at least three times what Copper did. Then he hurled it at Copper.

    Copper looked over at Topaz, wanting to say something, but then looked back at Onyx.  "Good luck." he simply said to the Minotaur.  There was the usual emotionless expression in his voice, however there was a brief sound of a competitor in it.

    Topaz scanned the two fighters and waited for any more Banter. Onyx had never said a word in the ring this whole tournament and it seemed he wasnt going to start now.

    "Alright. Its the first fight of the finals!" She exclaimed. She gestured to Copper, who was right around the heigt of an average pony. "Standing at four feet, excluding his hair, it'a copper strikes!"

    She pointed to her other side, "And at nine foot five with his horns, Onyx!"

    The crowd broke into a cheer.

    "Alright fighters you may begin!" Topaz announced.

    Onyx broke into a sprint, charging at Copper while breaking fissures into the concrete with his hoof steps. He swiftly lept into the air and came down on Copper with an elbow.

    As he listened to Draco's response, Dynamo had winced slightly as he saw a lot of scars from his teammate. He could feel a shiver running up and down his spine as it was as if he could feel that pain. "Believe me. I get what you mean, Draco. Really, I do. It's just that there are times where I mess up on something in a game, or a match and I still don't understand what I did wrong. I go over the fight multiple times and from different angles, but I still draw no answers. I'm a decent gamer, in my opinion, but that's just it. There are times where I have trouble learning from my mistakes." He felt ridiculous for saying such a thing. A fear of being ridicules for doubting himself from his teammates, but it was the truth. Dynamo had failed in moments where it really counted and he still didn't understand the reason behind it. He just hoped he would be able to learn from his recent fights to gain a victory for their final fights.

    "Let's not forget that some of your losses weren't exactly fair," Shining Armor chymed in while waiting for the first match to begin. He half smiled and said, "Just don't try to fight Selene while you're unconscious. We've learned that doesn't work."

    He slammed his hooves down, and a fire-style aura engulfed him, letting out a lot of heat in the process.  If Onyx remembered, The Earth Pony had an identical aura from when he was being tested, but that time was a mere intimidation tactic.  This time it was real, as a tremendous amount of power was surging from him in all directions.  "Now the question is... how long can this heat last?" he asked no one in particular, but it was still loud enough for everyone to hear.

    Spoiler

    Mason smiled at Copper's display. "That looks like it takes a lot of energy. Try not to tire yourself out too quickly."

    It looked like Mason was going to challenge Copper, but Onyx exhaled a deep, slow breath through his nostrils and stepped forward. Mason jumped off his shoulder and looked up at the massive Minotaur. "So soon, Onyx?" He asked, but didn't get a response.

    The minotaur walked to the center of the ring to the exuberant cheers of the crowd, each step he made echoed through the ring, causing vibrations in the ground beneath team Lotus.

    Topaz backed away from both fighters and looked between them. They both looked like they were ready to fight, but she waited a moment for them to speak, since contestants usually did at this point.

    I do want to say that I agree on Dynamo being due for a win. I just wasn't sure how the discussion would go for the wins and losses.

    Do you know what I was kind of talking about with the kurama vs karasu example though? I don't know if you've seen the anime. Kurama totally won the fight on the surface but it was officially ruled as a loss.

    Would it be possible and also okay for Dynamo to get the other win in the finals? I just wasn't sure how the wins and losses were going to be decided.

    I don't want to "Decide" them ahead of time because then we wouldn't really be playing. But I do think Dynamo is due for a win.

  10. 6 hours ago, DwhitetheGamer said:

    @Literally Snails @Unicorncob Mind if I go first?  I'm thinking of having moment of Copper's resolve, and to win the fight because of that resolve.

    I don't mind if you go first.

    @DwhitetheGamer @Dynamo Pad @dragon4111 @reader8363

    Keep in mind that of the four of you, two of you need to "lose" in order for all five fights to take place and all five of your characters to get a climax. That doesnt mean that two of you have to die or even lose the fight. If you want I could do something like what happened in YYH when Kurama lost to Karasu even though he killed him. But two of you do need to get a loss on the board.

    Jade kept her eyes fixed on Rokata's, barely even blinking.

    "Agreed," she said. "Though, you will not win this tournament with fighting me, either."

    @dragon4111 @DwhitetheGamer @Dynamo Pad @reader8363 @Arid_Blitz

    "Then decide who goes first. I want that decision to be on you," Rokata turned away and stepped out of the ring, saying one last thing before he returned to his teammate's sides. "Before you fight me, you need to find out what it feels like to send someone to their death."

    Mason's face contorted to a twisted smile and he hopped up on Onyx's shoulder so he could see over the ring at the other team.

    Jade stepped forward, not taking her eyes off Rokata.

    The two captains stopped across from each other with Topaz in the center, staring over her to look in one another's eyes. Rokata finally broke through the silence, saying, "We'll fight one on one. Best of three wins. That means two of your teammates will need to be strong enough to win before you can face me. I will not win this tournament without fighting you."

  13. Spoiler

    @Unicorncob @Dynamo Pad @reader8363 @dragon4111 @DwhitetheGamer @Arid_Blitz

    Topaz enthusiastically announced, "Now let me introduce once more the team you all know and love... the unchanging, the unbelievable, the unbeatable,  Team Rokata!"

    The doors across from team Lotus opened, and silhouetted against the back of the interior light of the arena, they saw team Rokata.

    It may have occurred to them that this was only the second time they saw all five members of Team Rokata assembled together. The last time they saw them like this was on the second day of the tournament after they fought against Tatterhoof's team. That time they were at a distance, and it seemed like they gathered to intimidate Jade. Every fight Team Rokata participated in so far, they only used a partial team, but it seemed like Team Lotus was the only opponent they bothered to gather for. Perhaps they even had some respect for them.

    This was different from the last time they were together.

    The last time Team Rokata gathered, there was an ominous tension in the air, but it was also mysterious. There was something hidden away tin that tense sensation hanging in the air.

    But this time they could feel it. Team Rokata wasn't hiding their strength any more.

    The five fighters approached the ring with Rail walking in behind them. They could hear the sounds of Onyx's heavy hoofsteps while the opponents approached, the constant roar of the crowd, but those sounds where dulled when compared to the overpowering sense they got from being in the presence of Rokata's crew. The crowd didnt seem bothered by it, but for those with keen magical awareness, they felt like there was a physical weight pulling down on his heart.

    Cumulus broke into a sweat a tensed his hooves on the edge of his seat. Tatterhoof stared at him and asked, "Are you alright?"

    "How didnt we feel it before? They've been here this whole time hiding right under out bloody noses!" He takes in a deep breath almost dry heaving as he bends down and rests his head in his hooves. "Now I get it. We're the lucky ones! We're lucky that Lotus gave us what for in the early rounds. How the hell couldn't I feel it before?"

    "As is customary, the team captains will now enter the ring and agree on the terms for the match!" Topaz said.

    Rokata stepped up on the ring.

    Jade scowled from the boop, her cheeks puffing as they turned pink. No one had ever taking this demeanour with her, so she wasn't sure how to react.

    "Hmph," she huffed, glancing away.

    @Dynamo Pad @dragon4111 @reader8363 @DwhitetheGamer @Arid_Blitz

    The clock ticked down, fast approaching the deadline for the fight. All of team Lotus approached the mechanical double doors leading to the arena grounds when the deadline approached. They'd been in this waiting area before, but it felt different. They knew now what to expect from the nature of these fights, and in a way, they knew more about their opponents than ever before, but the things they didn't know now carried a greater weight than before.

    Spoiler

    "Five days of non-stop action!" Topaz announced over the loudspeakers, "Sixteen teams to two! Eighty fighters to ten! Fourty one fatalities and it's not over yet. We still need one champion and there's plenty of bloosdhed to go!"

    Topaz spun around in the ring and gestured to the double doors on her right. "We'll begin by introducing the newcomers. You've grown to know them so well over the week, a team that always suprises and never disappoints, it's the out-of-nowhere team Lotus!"

    The mechanical doors swung open. Team lotus had experienced this before, but this time, the sudden rush of light they expected didn't come. It was a cloudy, overcast day, and the outdoors was as dark and gloomy as the interior of the arena.

    Most of the crowd broke into a fit of boos. A few pieces of trash were hurled while they took their places at the ring side, but there were some ponies cheering for them. Mostly betters who had staked a fair amount of money on them, but they also had some unlikely fans in the area of the stands where the remainders of teams Lockdown, Tatterhoof and Crimos were sitting.

    "Come on... You've got this..." Cumulus muttered, tensing his hooves. Ray blew on a tiny trumpet that made enough noise Lotus' team to hear.

    The doors on the others side of the arena were still closed, but they could feel something beyond it. There was something inside each of the fighters on team Lotus that yearned to know what was behind those doors, an itch to see them opened. A whole week of brutalities, cheats, deaths, and all of it was mastermined by the titanic fighters that were standing somehere behind those doors.

    "And now are you ready... for the home team?" Topaz asked, purposefully keeping up the suspence. The crowd began to cheer.

    "Ro-Ka-Ta! Ro-Ka-Ta!"

    With the whole team gathered, Shining Armor lead them to their locker room in the restricted section of the arena grounds. The room had six tall lockers that none of them had ever had a reason to use and a metal table in the center with a bench under the window. There was also a thick tension in the air. Past the insulated walls, they could hear the faint sound of cheering from the gathering crowds and Topaz's voice over the loudspeakers.

    @Arid_Blitz Dai, Ray, Tatterhoof, and Cumulus all sat in a row in one of the middle columns of the arena stands, surrounded on all sides by fans who occassionally looked at them. There were seats on Cumulus' side for team Crimos to sit at.

    "Isn't that pegasus supposed to be in prison?" One mare murmored.

    There was still time before the finals started, but nearly every seat in the arena was already filled.

    "Welcome back, fans!" the referree announced. "Can you feel it yet? This just isn't like any other fight we've seen! The teams haven't even entered the ring yet, and all our seats are already filled, but the most surprising part is who's fighting! After five days of absolutely insane fighting, The underdog Team Lotus has not only made it to the finals, but according to the betting odd's they're actually favored to win six to five!"

    The majority of the arena errupted in boos at that news, and Topaz responded by saying, "Yes, but it seems like the less afluent fans don't share that sentiment. The opinion polls from the common fan are still firmly in favor of Rokata."

    Shining Armor stepped up to the arena entrance with his assitant Quill at his side. He saw the whole team gathered there, except for Copper, who still hadn't shown. "I hope you all slept well," he said in a matter-of-fact tone, "I'm going to be joining you all at the ring-side like I did with the semi-finals. I don't see any point in standing up in a booth for something this important. Do any of you know where Copper is?"
