  1. Why don't you take a crack at my OC? I think I have everything in order, but please, do look. http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/garnet-r7510
  2. We took our semester finals this week, and I was one of the first to finish the exam for History class. I was bored, sitting there listening to Ethiopian Reggae, so I thought I might whip out my reserve computer and take a quick sketch of AmberDust's OC Pony. I think I did a pretty decent first sketch for having never mastered drawing a basic pony form before. When I got back home after my classes were done, I refined the details in my sketch and added colour. I based Amber in the colour scheme I gave her (Colour scheme #2 in this topic). Here's for you, AmberDust! For all the help you've given me, you deserve a decent reward! PS.(I wonder what she's looking up at?)
  3. Her OC Avatar DOES look rather feminine, but after a good look, I can see some of (His) masculine traits. Also, the OC in the thread, Rosemary, is female, so I made a quick (and rather false) deduction that the user who designed the OC is female. I'm sorry if I caused you any amount of offense by that.
  4. I agree. It matches quite nicely with her knowledge of herbs & quick-fix healing salves and her willingness to help everypony around her. Sort of like a botanist version of Fluttershy.
  5. It is difficult to master the art of Forum Gender Identification.
  6. ... To be honest... I really don't know... Just a bit of impulse from being within a short distance of at least one female for most of my day... Also, your username is Rain Crasher, and the lead flutist in the community band in my town is a girl by the name of Rain Garcia. It just made me think of her...
  7. Thank you. I will update my Avatar to suit this new development. It looks really nice... I commend you.
  8. I think she's talking about your wonderful illustrations...
  9. Neat. Thank you for clearing that up for me.
  10. These sketches are fantastic! Diese Kunst verdient Lob! I love your Cutie Mark ideas. They really fit in with most of Rosemary's Traits. Now let's see what Rain Crasher thinks of them.
  11. What did you write on both sides of Dark Mist? My reserve computer's screen is so small I cannot make it out.
  12. Everypony is good at something, but nopony is good at everything, not even me.For instance, I'm not good at naming OCs. If you aren't great with cutie marks, I can probably help you if you provide an accurate description of your pony's cutie mark.
  13. You can do whatever you'd like for the Cutie Mark. When it came down to me, I took only very minor advice from forum-goers and decided to make Garnet's Cutie Mark something totally different that I felt applied to HIM. I'm just here to provide assistance, but you can do whatever comes to mind. I think Rosemary Leaves would kinda work as a cutie mark, because it matches her name and her knowledge of herbs, but do consider that Cutie Marks appear when a pony finds his/her special talent, thereby eliminating the possibility of naming somepony after a cutie mark. So that means that selecting a cutie mark just to match the name is probably not a smart idea most of the time. It works sometimes, but not always. This means that you're going to have to go on a game of hide n' seek to find your OC's special talent and thereby earn major inspiration for her Cutie Mark.
  14. Hi! I'm retrosteamknight and I'm here to share my knowledge regarding your problem! Try to have a main colour that brings out the detail colours as best as they can. Or, if you're feeling ambitious, you can try and base the colours off character traits. Expert in herbs? Colour her a a delicate green with a pinch of sea foam. Her name is Rosemary? Her hair can be a shade of purple as a nod to the colours of the flowers on a rosemary bush. Cutie Mark? That's trivial. How about a Rosemary Bush? But the eyes you may need to figure out for yourself. Just follow my tips above for the best results. Here's an example of what I was talking about...

  16. I absolutely LOVE this artwork! Actually, love is quite an understatement. Regardless of whether it is or not, these sketches are just fantastic! I probably couldn't have done it better myself! For those of you who want to know a bit more about Garnet, click here to check out his page on the RP Character Database.

Wow, an OC that doesn't suck. That's rare nowadays. Good work, m8.

Thank you. I worked hard on that OC.

  17. Love it! Keep on discovering talents for both you and Ms. Dust! Would like to see an image of Ms. Dust when you think you have a nice final design.
  18. I need everypony's help once more to decide what Garnet (My OC Pony's cutie mark should be.) I do not know how to work polls, so please forgive me if you cannot use "Multiple Choice", whatever that means. If you cannot use "Multiple Choice" or vote on polls whatsoever, please specify what his cutie mark should be or include. You can chose more than one idea. Please refer to this post and this topic for everything you need. Your choices are... (specify 1 or more than 1) 1) His namesake gem 2) Scroll or other paper-like substance 3) Writing utensil 4) Book 5) Music Note or Clef 6) Musical Instrument 7) Other (Please Specify Below) If anyone has some artwork of cutie mark ideas, I would love to see them. Thank you.
  19. Thank you all. His name is now Garnet. Poll will be closed shortly, once I figure out how to do it. (Somepony please help me close this poll.) Will hold another Poll shortly for you all to help me decide on a cutie mark.
  20. Name: Garnet (AKA: The Virtuoso) Gender: Male Backstory: Born in Fillydelphia, Garnet has been the target of confusion, mainly because he was the polar opposite of his biological parents. He saw potential for him to be the best there could be, and set about trying to find his special talent in life, where he found out that he excelled at many things regarding art. He was last seen relaxing in his new home of Ponyville. Fighting Style: Uses magic to summon writing utensils, blank canvases, novels, instruments, and even explosive music notes to hurl at the enemy. Uses Physical Force very rarely. Can incapacitate and paralyze foes using magic bursts. Special Moveset: Wavering Melody: Summons a fierce volley of explosive musical notes that have a 5% chance of dealing bonus damage Vivace: Teleports a very short distance to avoid an attack. Long cooldown rate. Autograph: Writes for a bit in a medium sized book, then slams it against the opponent Ultimate Attack: Artist's Lament: Pulls out a blank canvas in an attempt to counter the opponent's move. If the opponent's attack connects, Garnent starts drawing the opponent on said canvas, creating various black lines across the screen, then, sculpts the opponent out of clay, creating several more lines across the screen, then, finishes with a single note from his trombone, filling in the rest of the lines and turning the screen solid black. The black then slowly fades and the fight resumes. Theme: Condemnation Wings II Stage: Garnet's Room: Second Floor of Garnet's House. Dark Blue Walls, One window in the center. Pretty artsy; There's paintings and sketches of other ponies upon the walls. On one part of the stage, there is a music stand w/ paper on it, and several instruments laid out around it. On another part of the stage, there is a table with sculptures of the Mane Six and Alicorn Princesses. Species: Unicorn Character Traits: Bright, charming, creative, reserved, intelligent, observant. Dialogue: Opening dialogue: "I'm Garnet, but you may call me... (strikes heroic pose) THE VIRTUOSO!" Opening dialogue: "Can we please get this over with? I have a novel to write." Special Attacks: "WAVERING MELODY!" Special Attacks: "VIVACE!" Special Attacks: "Here! On the house!" (Autograph) Ultimate Attack: "Ah!" (Counter attempt) "This will make a beautiful paining!" (drawing phase) "Let me just get some of the details right!" (Sculpting Phase) "And the finale! A REQUIEM FOR THINE MASTERPIECE!" (Note-Blasting Phase) "Thank you for your assistance!" (Screen fades back to fight) Winning a Battle: "Thank you for your assistance!" Winning a Battle: "Now, back to my novel!" Winning a Battle: "So? You fought me! What do you want now, a back rub? Cutie Mark: Pencil drawing a treble clef onto a sheet of paper Age: 21 Alignment: Good Olive Coat, Garnet colored eyes, Blonde messy mane and tail, White collar-piece w/ black bowtie.
  21. I thanks to AmberDust, I have been able to assemble 3 names for my OC Pony, and I need your help trying to decide whether or not one of them is good. I have assembled 3 names and made a poll for this topic, even though I am clueless as to how polls work, I did my best. The names are: Virtuoso Craft, Garnet, and Artistic Vision Please vote honestly, as this is the name my OC Pony will have for the rest of it's life. If you haven't already, please check out this topic right here. for a short bio and other comments that may influence your initial decision.
  22. Not even I know that yet, but I will get back to you after some research.
  23. I think these ideas are nice. I still think my idea would be reasonable for a show-designed-for-little-girls-but-has-adopted-a-large-male-fanbase look, but in the end, it's all up to you. If you need any moar assistance, just let me know. Danke, Mein Freund.
