The problem with my town is that it does 2 or 3 things really well, acoustic singer songwriters doing Oasis songs, Agatha Christie tributes and pubs with karaoke and football. If you like anime, heavy metal, film, jazz, history, tabletop RPGs, surfing, cookery, reading or any form of alternative culture then you might as well bugger off. If you like getting drunk, yelling at people and competing to see who can be the towns stupidist tosspot then you're right at home.

Basically there's no 'scene' for anything. There are no alternative circuits. If you have any interests at all other than the most mainstream of culture then you have to take a trip to the city to feed it properly. It's basically why I have so few friends because people who share my interests have nowhere to go.

Exactly! !! I know the feels hun I'm in the same boat ... my nearest City is an hour by train away and if you don't want to go out and get pissed every weekend and like blasting out clubbing music in your chavvy modified hatchback or getting your nails done and talking about boys then your frownedupon as a person!
