  1. Don't keep your bread in the fridge. Below 8 degrees celsius a process called retrogradation occurs, where the starch molecules contract, squeezing out the moisture trapped within. As a result, the bag the loaf often comes packaged in accrues a layer of condensation on the inside. This means you end up with bread drying out faster than normal, but with a soggy crust, and will often go mouldy quicker than usual. Additionally, keeping it in a well ventilated area will allow drier air to continually replace the air that has absorbed moisture, which will accelerate the drying process as the transfer of water is dependent on the humidity gradient, like the transfer of heat is dependent on the difference in temperature. Instead, it is better to keep it out of the light, where convection is minimised. Such as in a bread bin.
  2. On the odd occasion. Someone I knew recently was gobsmacked when they discovered I was 31, she thought I was in my early-mid twenties. Last year I got IDed for alcohol as well (18 in the UK). Apparently having a haircut and getting rid of the face-fuzz, 'does me wonders'.
  3. Usually neither. Maybe a bit of pepper, but generally aux naturel. Sometimes I will have ketchup (or 'red sauce' when I was living up north in Loughborough (anything north of Swindon is 'the north')), though that's usually as part of a wider meal. HP sauce is also good. All that said however.... Mayo.... sorry.... Mayonnaise on chips is an affront to civilisation, common decency, humanity's aspirations and the very bedrock of society. ....and cricket; can you imagine such a thing at Lord's?!
  4. Getting 'outed' for the first time. Going away for a weekend generally doesn't cause much interest in the people you know. 'Going to Nottingham to see some friends' rarely elicits much of a response. Informing them that you are going to the US for 5 days does however, and of course the questions start piling on. So you either completely lie or bend the truth. Can't exactly say you're going to a different state/city than you intend to incase they have been to your ficticious destination and have questions upon your return. So naturally you say that you are seeing some friends in Baltimore. Which is technically true. Of course you don't just fly 3000 miles for a 5 day holiday to see a few friends, two weeks maybe, but not 5 days. And given the recent events in that city, certainly not Baltimore. So someone does some digging. I get back from BronyCon '15 and arrive at the pub for the next petanque match andohdearlord does the ribbing begin. Thankfully it only lasts about 10-15 minutes, we play the game and nothing else is said for the rest of the evening. And every other match since for that matter. Which is overall, rather refreshing.
  5. Quite. Both 'sides' (brony and non-brony) frequently associate wierd with wrong, but then the opposite is true as well. I'd also suggest that liking MLP isn't actually that wierd. It's the assumption that it is still what it was in the past that (as a generalisation) makes the ol' eyebrows rise. While it's targetted at the younger crowd, I'd call it a family show, not a children's one (which says something about our idea of what makes a children's show).
  6. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Rarity How did you find MLP Forums?: On google after discovering EQD doesn't have a forum. How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: Had seen a few forum avatars around the place and a few links on Youtube, but not follwed it up.Then a webcomic I read posted a side-strip that mentioned bronies (in a generally good way); a-googling and a-wiki-ing I did go.Thought I'd see 'what all the fuss is about' and then thought 'why can't I stop watch this thing'.Started watching Youtube stuff, checking out the fandom, found EQD, ect.And 18 months later here I am. Generally go by DJ on this here interweb thing but your newfangled contraption is demanding with regards to user names. (Though now that he thinks about, one could have used a couple of full stops...) Anyway, I'm from a muddy patch in the south of the UK. I like 40k, RPGs (RL or sur l'ordinateur), sciency stuff, far too much real ale/craft beer and oddly enough, MLP:FiM. P.S. If you didn't guess, Vinyl is best minihorse.
