So I saw the Gen 5 movie yesterday with my friend (and we had mexican food afterwards
)
I really liked it. First of all the character designs and the scenery were WOW AMAZING!
Before I had said that I would rathe take place in a different universe etc. (outside of friendship is magic) but a world where the 3 pony races (minus bat ponies) are separated and like rekindling is a pretty neat idea tbh. Def. interested in seeing what happens next.
The spectacle of each scene was pretty great. The first song "Gonna Be My Day" was incredible! I love it so much and Vanessa is soooo great! Not alot of pandering which is great. Fun characters and great voice acting. That being said here are my gripes:
-the end of the film had no grand spectacle (that robot was lame too)
-magic was restored because only like 16 ponies were "no longer racist"
-Those 16 ponies not being racist wasn't earned
-Hitch transformed/reformed out of nowhere (not earned)
-besides the first song the other songs kind of fall flat for various reasons (2-too short, 3-too goofy, 4-pretty good but a lil repetitive, 5-sounds great but some lyrics are cringe, 6-same as 4 but worse)

@Miss I love Sunny, favourite character along with Izzy. I just didn’t really think her transformation was as earned as Twilight’s was. Not that Sunny doesn’t deserve it, because she does. I just think the real journey for her only took a few days and for Twilight, it took three years.
And nopony reacts to Sunny transforming! Or at least they do slightly but not enough. Or does nopony know what an alicorn even is? Just add that to the list of a million unanswered questions this movie raises.

Hmmm still gonna have to disagree for the same reasons that the journey wasn;t three days it was basically her whole life while Twilight was 3 years.
And I gotta say they're more confused than anything I mean just a second ago when they saw a pony with a horn, without a horn, with wings, without wings, they were scared or angry so seeing one with both is more like wtf than anything. They don't know what an alicorn is. If you think about the only pony that knew anything about the past was Sunny's dad too. Everypony else thought it was just tales that there was a time when all pony races were friends.

@Miss I meant the journey that we see. I think it started when she met Izzy, Twilight’s started when she moved to Ponyville. Just my view.
