Look. Buddy. Maybe you could use a bit o' negativity.
Personally, I'm against show-cannon Kirin.
I know, I know. Jumpin' the gun since I ain't watched the one episode. But that's absolute dreck compared to classical mythology Kirin. That's dumbed down, prissy, Childrens' Show, watered-down bunkus. These are figures you don't go cartoonish on. They're scaled beasts drifting through the mystical skies, crackling with sheer power... not prancin' about makin' friends! I'm good on dragons' portrayal since they're allotted a wide range. There's entire cultures of dragons. I get nothing from these Kirins, and that burns.
Y'all doin' yourself a disservice if you stay by only this portrayal.
Fuh.
...'s just me nerd ranting...
I can tell they only picked Kirin because they thought'd look cool & sell, not because they could tell a story with it. They warped "Windigoes" beyond recognition, but that gets by on "different dimension" rules. Applin' Cuteness doesn't work here.
Fuh.

@Widdershins
I know the original mythology kirin, but I still enjoy the show Kirin.
It's no different that pegasus in mythology versus MLP, they aren't originally about friendship either.
I liked the MLP Cerberus and well, there's a reason why I originally named myself Cerberus.
so on so on..QuoteI can tell they only picked Kirin because they thought'd look cool & sell, not because they could tell a story with it.
like they do everything in the show? since it only exists to sell toys.

Well...
I swear to Me! If you get all "Schmantics" on us... I am OUT that door!
Well... it'd be annoying. That's pretty much brother to Confusion, right?
Bweeeh...
Well, Technically Cerbie, buddy...
In original Mythology, the Pegasus was not only purely symbolic, a tool for the hero to use... but very likely only one individual that was only ever intended to be one figure. ...L-like the Hydra, really. Now that I think of it.
Born from the seafoam, yet given flight by the gods, it was given to Perseus to aid in his travels during his tasking of the slaying of Medusa. Could be argued that Pegasus applies to the one horse, unlike Medusa which was one of three sisters. While I'm not uptodate on having read every Greek myth... Cerberus was the gatekeeping hellhound... but there were many others of his species to follow. Like the Sphinxes and... well, Kirins.
Kirins have little to, perhaps, no actual history behind them. Might have brought messages to important kings, but... today they're pretty much forgotten for anything but tattoos & one beer brand. In that regard, I respect the show for rejuvenating a species that likely would have been forgotten to death.
