Oooh, a history question! I've got this!
SpoilerThe answer is 6. Of those 6 wives:
- The first, Lady Catherine, was divorced after she failed to conceive a child.
- The second, Anne Boleyn, was executed for committing adultery. Though she gave birth to the future Queen Elizabeth I
- The third, Jane Seymour, died after giving birth to Henry's first child, the later Edward VI.
- The fourth, Lady Anne of Cleves, was more of an arranged political marriage, and Henry divorced her when he felt it was no longer to his benefit.
- The fifth, Catherine Howard, was executed, again on charges of adultery.
- And finally the sixth, Katherine Parr, who actually outlived Henry, dying a little over a year after him.
So there you have it! Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived.
