Especially of late in the series, Dash's ego had simply been out of hand. She had made progress beforehand, and it's not that she'd taken any steps backwards, but really, bragging is pretty much all Dash has had to do of late at this point in the show. Dash and Fluttershy have been way in the background for a lot of season 5 and 6, so this episode featuring her was a long overdue return to AWESOME and a refueling of Cool, the tank is now 20% fuller. She seems to have gotten it straight in her head, and is able to admit it. Fitting in matters at least as much as standing out does. Life is a careful balancing act between the two. I can relate to acting five different ways just because I thought it would make people like me. The pain of realizing that I'd made a fool of myself is not something I'm likely to forget. But persistence is key, and learning to have the slightest sense of humor about one's self, like say about a nickname like Crash, can be the key. And thus, Rainbow Dash is able to pull herself together and just BE a Wonderbolt, now that she's finally earned it.

A very important episode. It shows that both Trixie and Starlight Glimmer are now decisively on the right side of history. They both still have their issues and past to deal with, but from this episode onwards, now they have each other. It is well and good to have one best friend. But what about when you have two really great friends with some history between them? Or a good person has a bad reputation? It gets complicated. And this episode does a good job of illustrating that. Despite meaning well, Princess Twilight Sparkle is yet to establish a particularly impressive batting average as Starlight Glimmer's teacher. But she believes in Starlight and Starlight believes in her, and somehow they and Trixie manage to keep it together and pull through this critical jam and now they can really move forwards together. Good thing too, we wouldn't want a war with the Changelings without Starlight and Trixie and Discord. It's totally perfect that Cranky Doodle Donkey wouldn't hesitate to speak his mind, or ask Princess Celestia about something he was curious to know. He pays his taxes and has been around.

This episode provides another rare and fascinating glimpse into the world and culture of the Dragons. Spike once again has to walk a line between protecting his pony friends and values with somehow still asserting what is best in himself, as a dragon. No small feat, but Spike, with a bit of help is more than equal to the task. At least you'll always hear every order the dragon lord issues very clearly. If Gen 5 is to be believed, Spike went on to become the dragon lord anyways, despite deferring it in this episode. One wonders how that all may have come to pass.

Had to happen sooner or later, certainly I've looked and acted the part, was wondering when someone was gonna put the pieces together.

No. Lol, no it's not. Don't listen to me, I'm being naughty. And this wasn't me on Friendship Melody the other day either, but I was reminded of this cause I wasn't doing much better. Sans holes in my case though.

Only in Pony of Fire mode, you are competing for holes.

Exactly, there are positives which it's been possible to extract, but overall the trajectory Star Trek has been on is not achieving escape velocity. I somehow think that if they did a Strange New Worlds film, with a HUGE budget and a really good story, that could make good on the franchise again. AND YES, FLUTTERSHUTTER IS TELLING THE TRUTH, THE ABRAMS FILMS ARE AWFUL!!! SRRY, JUST SAYIN'

My thought would be this: Even though the Ponies understood that Princess Luna had renounced Nightmare Moon's desire for total domination, once a year, one night only, the ponies still wanted to be scared, as we see in the episode. Trusting that she was in control of herself, the ponies wanted her to scare them. I personally feel it really is that simple. Perhaps Luna herself may have come to enjoy granting that wish eventually. Ponies, despite being so far ahead of us in some regards are still in the material creation...thus even they enjoy a good fright now and then. Even by the time of Gen 5...Princess Pipp Petals seemed to come alive on Nightmare Night and read ghost stories, and actively charged into a building she considered haunted. By then, the Equestrians probably did not remember the origin or true significance of the holiday, but the love of a fright and of pageantry persisted. ...as it always shall.

Today yes, yesterday too. I try to stay on the crest of the wave, as long it it's still running it's course, I try to stay along for the ride, for as long as I can, whenever I can. The more time you spend on the highs, the quicker you'll just scramble back out of the lows, not get stuck there too long or remember them too much.

Interesting. The ANG movie and all of MYM only add up to just over one season's world of FIM content. I have always felt they pulled the plug too soon. It happens, eons ago many Mobians felt that way about the cancellation of Sonic SATAM. I've been scanning the isles of the big box stores locally, and there is NO Gen 5 merch on the shelves anymore. The nice Zipp Storm I found was at a shop in a mall that sells stuff that didn't sell elsewhere. It seemed that Walmart and Target were only pushing Sunny, Izzy and a couple multi pony miniature packs. But I think they've purged the distribution channels entirely, and now we're into the dark age. Hopefully, we won't have to wait five years for Gen 6. Internal nastiness or gone wrong can kill something like a cartoon or a toy line even in the best of times. Add to that the Pandemic, the unrest and a generalized lessening of interest in physical toys in the 21st Century, the odds were steeply against Gen 5. Maybe this unsatisfactory outcome for Gen 5 will serve to galvanize us. It is in our hooves, the possibility of a Brony / Hoof Sister Renaissance, if Gen 6 gives us something we can believe in and if it Sparkles what Brian Walmer once called: "THE PASSION!"

I have finished my video project for Lyra and Bon Bon Day 2025! It will be premiering on YouTube on the 5th of July! I hope every pony will be able to be there with me on that day, so we can all wish Lyra and Bon Bon another happy year together!

Today I finished my video project for Lyra and Bon Bon Day 2025 (July 5th). I couldn't be happier! Happier for Lyra and Bon Bon! Happier for MLP! Happier for all of us! Happier I got off of my @55 and got this project finished in a timely manner and to a standard I am proud of. Four reasons to be happy is a whole set of hooves upon which I can gallop, and for that I am truly grateful.

Right now I am trying to come off of the high of having finished my video project for Lyra and Bon Bon Day 2025 (July 5th), so I can get some rest finally!

I am thinking that my video for Lyra and Bon Bon day has come together exactly the way it was meant to. I made every effort to be conscientious about how I set out to make this project. I deliberately did not bite off more than I could chew. But I also took care to put some effort into each and every element. It all came together better and faster than I would have thought. But, one aspect I had taken for granted from the beginning eventually revealed itself to just be not quite right. So, I had to replace it. And, right there, very much NOT because of any deliberate action on my part, here on a computer hard drive, just by chance, the exact missing puzzle piece I needed presented itself. My video is either good, or it isn't. But even if it isn't...THIS is how it had to be, and it was because of spontaneity, dare I say it here? A bit of magic! I couldn't be happier, it wasn't my ego that finished this project and placed the final touch on it. It will be appearing as a video on YouTube as the first project of a new channel I am starting, focusing on MLP! I hope every pony will join me on the 5th of July, so we can wish Lyra and Bon Bon another happy year together!

Tonight I REJOICE! My Tribute to Lyra and Bon Bon is complete, and I can't wait to share it with everyone on July 5th, 2025. It will be appearing on YouTube, as the inaugural project of a new channel I am creating, when Gen 6 arrives, I plan to be there. In the meantime, there is much I can do relating to Gen 4 and Gen 5 to get my hooves in the barn. But, I am glad that the channel's first video is going to be something wholly heartfelt and simply sincere. The Joy of being happy for all true lovers everywhere, is the most enlightened kind of joy it's possible to feel. Stay tuned, and I hope every pony will join me for the premiere on the 5th of July, so we can all share our wishes to Lyra and Bon Bon for another happy year together!

With the exception of a few unexpectedly good episodes, Star Trek Discovery was just not my thing. Then again, neither was Enterprise. See, I am old. When Voyager started going south, I also gave up on Deep Space 9. Old or not, as far as Star Trek is concerned, in one sense I am an awful purist. For me, Star Trek is TOS, TNG, the TOC movies plus Star Trek First Contact...and then anything after that is either deuterocanonical or just plain apocryphal. It doesn't mean I've stopped watching or started disliking anything New Trek that I see. It's just a matter of remembering that I watched TOS on syndication before TNG was released, when you're that old...there are implications. I tried to like Discovery, I really did, but the only thing to come out of it that I could hang onto was Anson Mount and Ethan Peck. No one can replace Leonard and Bill, but Mount and Peck are a blanket I can comfortably wrap myself up in. Then again, I was just disappointed and saddened by Picard as well. Of course, all of these are just my opinions, and given what they are, why do I really dig Strange New Worlds? I do not know! It is a huge mystery to me, but I do. Beyond Anson Mount and Ethan Peck as Capt. Pike and Spock, there is much I can sink my teeth into; Something about the way Christina Chong plays La'an...it is as though some part of Khan (Ricardo Montalban's Khan!) somehow comes back to us, every scene she's in has this old TOS flair as a result, I can't get enough of it. Just like I think Ethan Peck does the better job of being Spock, I think that Celia Gooding just nails it as Uhura, same with Jess Bush's interpretation of Nurse Chapel. The actors and actresses on this show are succeeding at bringing classic characters back to life, and creating new ones that it's easy to care about. Of course, there is only one Worf, and that Worf is Michael Dorn.

My favorite Gen 5 pony is easily Zipp Storm. She is curious, tenacious, able to focus, is very moral and upright, and she does care about the ponies around her. Sure, she can be a tad suspicious. But consider how gullible and rather simple minded, there I said it, that most of the ponies in Gen 5 are... If one pony, who works as a detective, is a bit tightly wrapped, so much the better. Zipp throws herself at her work. It does surprise me that she wants nothing to do with the Crown, but it's clearly not because of laziness or timidity. She's tough, smart, persistent and thorough. She's also somehow the most snuggly of all the Gen 5 characters, as an added bonus.
