  1. Holy crap staples is ripping people off for HDMI cables. $40 at the cheapest! Unbelievable!

      The thing about HDMI cables though is that they transmit a digital signal. There's virtually no difference in quality between the $5 cable I ended up buying on amazon and that one. I bet they're making absolutely massive profit margins on those though.

      Well, it's also about the material these were made of.

      As for the visible transfer quality differences in HDMI cables - to be honest I can't tell that myself as I haven't really tested things yet, nor I'm not an expert in things like this.

      I think you'd need a decent monitor (most likely gaming monitor)/TV to see the difference, if there would be any, that is.
      There seem to actually be some parameters in them, such as supported maximum resolutions; transfer speed as well as some additional protection in cable design.

      I had a chance to try an ultra cheap HDMI cable (for less than $2), that I found, and ... well, it worked. I wasn't working with 4K resolution much though- perhaps that's where things could be visible...

       

      Either way after googling some HDMI cables, there are some, that go beyond $300. Now that's science. :derp:
