I haven't been able to get into Mario Kart since Double Dash. They all seemed to lack something, some kind of flair, that DD had.

Double Dash and Mario Kart DS were the pinnacles of the series for me. Ever since Mario Kart Wii the games have felt off, and MK8 is no exception. The controls feel so loose and shitty, the courses feel far too similar in that most of them are just the same kind of 'big curvy turns and crazy slopes' and the gimmicks of underwater and the air stuff are just that, stupid gimmicks. The A.I. is also insanely rubberbandy in MK8. Really not liking it much.
