Voicing your concerns is one thing. Using your concerns as an excuse to shut down the right to dialogue on a subject is another. We're seeing this all too often now from the far left. They operate under this idea that we all have some right to not be offended. That right simply doesn't exist, and if it did, it'd be impossible to regulate since we're all offended by different things.

It's funny you mention that, because I once had a thread locked for making that same argument. Truth hurts. People here can't seem to handle it.

That doesn't make them against free speech. If anything, they're exercising their right to it. To believe you are right and they are wrong, and being able to explain why, is exactly what free speech is about.

  2. Originally it was a way to describe handicapped people without using a slur in an attempt to not be offensive. Somewhere along the line it got twisted to actually being a slur because people got it in their heads that being politically correct was inherently a bad thing. Combined with the fact that actually calling someone retarded went from being a simple description to practically a controversy and you have a recipe for bass-ackwards ways of not being offensive even when you are absolutely being offensive.

  3. Mainly the Media Discussion area. I keep an eye on the "recently posted in" area for the odd topic that will catch my interest elsewhere but I know the most about things like video games, music, comics, anime, etc. so that's the place to be.

I used to spend more time in actual show discussion before I fell behind. I'm almost always far enough behind that everyone has moved on from the episodes I watch.

Also randomly look at status updates. Ever since they were expanded to allow more than 200 characters they turned into legit posts at times that didn't quite fit elsewhere on the site. You can find some gems once in awhile.

well i just recently came back, so i suppose lurking?

It can be a bit hard to get back into the swing of things with so many new faces. Good thing people here are generally pretty amiable.

  4. There's a huge Playstation Network sale going on right now if anyone cares. A lot of high quality games for really stupid cheap. I got Far Cry Primal, The Witcher 3, Dying Light, and Space Hulk: Deathwing for $73. That would have amounted to almost $200 without the sale.

  5. She's become my new favorite character in the show. She managed to top Discord!

She's a very deep character and even though she's used the same way she doesn't feel like an engine for friendship lessons like a lot of the characters, including the main six.

I also like how her aptitude for magic pretty much dwarfs Twilight's. That's not really meant to be a dig at Twilight but it makes the show that much better now that she isn't the only pony capable of amazing magical feats.

  6. I just got to this episode. Overall it's kinda same ol', same ol' but it does make me hope we someday see the CMC actually physically growing up at some point. The entire season so far has made efforts to point out that it's been years since the start of the series so they're obviously trying to actually move time forward.

  7. I'm making my fourth attempt to beat Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. I've made it to various places throughout the game including the final boss but every time I end up getting stuck and/or losing interest so it never gets completed.

Doesn't help that if your characters are over level 60 when you get to the final boss his level jumps up from 60 to 99. That's the only condition to release that limiter. It's Grade-A bullshit.

Well since I finished Bioshock 1 i figured it was time to play Bioshock 2... though its taking me longer to get through 2 then it did with 1...

Hopefully you get to Infinite at some point. It's the best game in the series by far.

  8. Once when I was about three or four years old I stepped on a dead on one the ground that still had the stinger in it. I was not a happy child.

I haven't been stung since. I tend to stay stock still when I find them near me. Let's hope I don't end up on the wrong end of a hornet someday.

  9. A couple years ago I went into a comic shop and found a collector's edition of a game I already owned. I bought it for $80 but realized I shouldn't have spent that much money on a game I already own.

They wouldn't let me return it though. "Buyer's remorse isn't a good enough reason to return it" was their reason.

I haven't gone back to that shop. I get that they didn't want to be ripped off or something but they literally could have opened it to make sure everything was in there. Hell, it was still in the packaging they had it in.

I understand their logic. I still don't like it. It was a horrible waste of money that I wasn't able to get back.

Just take the time to create more quality games. I don't think there's really much else to it honestly.

This is really what it comes down to in the end. Having all the different ideas and styles would be fine by itself. The problem is that half the time the game releases and it's buggy, slows down, and generally needs a much better development team behind it. Instead they keep passing it off to random no-name developers who clearly don't know what they're doing.

  11. I usually have some sort of handheld device to use, sometimes multiple, so I can just use those until they come back on or I have to go to sleep/work.

There was one time the power was out for several days because of an ice storm a few years ago. Mostly a whole lot of nothing there. A few board games and huddling up with people for warmth. That was fun <_<

  12. It's a little hard to pick even a top ten. I'm just gonna throw a few I gave a 9 or 10 on My Anime List.

    Ah My Goddess

    Darker Than Black

    BECK Mongolian Chop Squad

    D-Frag

Black Lagoon (particularly Roberta's Blood Trail)

    Full Metal Panic

    Tenchi Muyo (as a whole)

    Fate/Zero

    Girls und Panzer

    Great Teacher Onizuka

    Ranma 1/2

    One Punch Man

    Drifters

I guess I'll stop there. This list would be pretty big if I listed everything I gave a high score. :P

i dont consider that a metal gear game, also i only played it since last week or so XD

Yeah, I've heard there's basically nothing Metal Gear about it. It could literally be called anything else. I never had any particular interest in it. Rising was the last game I actually liked in the series.

Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex

    S01 E02

I'm finally gonna get around to watching this series soon. I've seen random episodes here and there as well as one of the movies but a lot of it was a bit hard to follow without seeing everything before for context.

I am currently playing " The Note " on Playstation 1, a pretty weird, early survival horror game, back then when the term Survival Horror wasnt even a genre yet. They just called it an action-adventure with horror elements.

Also its the only serious horror game i saw that apparently was rated for everyone, according to the ELSPA rating.

They said its okay for 3 year olds to play this game, while the the german rating system rated it as 16+. That is weird.

It wasn't until the 2000s that the ESRB really got a handle on how to rate games. Games like Legend of Dragoon probably should have gotten a T rating but somehow ended up with E.

I believe there was also a time when M didn't even exist. At least in the US.
