  1. I've been a fan of Linkin Park since their Meteora album. I didn't particularly like very much after that. The change in music styles was not to my liking at all.

New Divide was one of their most popular songs and I didn't like it at all. When the band started focusing more on mellow styles they pretty much  lost me.

Still, without Chester there will either be no more Linkin Park or it's going to change drastically. I'm curious to see what happens now.

Some of my favorite songs by them were Forgotten, Nobody's Listening, Figure No. 9, In The End, Bleed It Out, and Castle of Glass.

It's ironic that he committed suicide when he's been singing about depression and suicidal thoughts for  nearly twenty years.

  2. Fighting games are one of my favorite video game genres. Also the only one I care to play competitively in any sense of the word. BlazBlue, Darkstalkers, or Guilty Gear? All fun.

What about you? Favorite fighting games? Best characters in each? Let's talk! Or fight. Whichever.

    ---

Most recently I got Darkstalkers Resurrection. I've rather enjoyed playing as Jedah (Provi de Servo = <3) and Anarkaris. Lilith is surprisingly fun to play as even though she's kind of the Dan Hibiki to Morrigan's Ryu.

    ---

I found out about this one recently.

I can't wait. I love the Arc System Works fighting games (BlazBlue, Persona 4 Arena, Guilty Gear) and I'm definitely looking forward to being able to play as RWBY characters.

God forbid they did name 06 SA3, though LOL. That game did NOT deserve to be anything close to the first 2. If they didn't rush 06, sure, might have been a bit better and a good candidate for SA3, but the way it came out... No.

How it was received and how it was designed are two different things though. It has all the major factors that made up both Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 from gameplay to how the story played out.

I personally felt the game was waaaay too padded out, the controls felt stiff, particularly on the mach speed sections, you had to make all your jumps at the right moment, and dying always felt cheap, and not like I fucked up. Sonic's base speed in the regular sections was too slow, and there is horrible collision detection in places. Silver is the worst, he's slow, and he has to use items in the stage to kill enemies.

Honestly I feel 60% of the game could have been avoided, there was no need for 13 playable characters. The game drags on forever. And then the final level, instant kill eyes appear right in front of you and you don't expect it. That isn't challenging, that's bad level design.

Oh, and each character played differently, so that's 13 different playstyles. It should have been just 3, and all play like Sonic 3&K. All are fast and play similarly, but each had one gameplay gimmick, like flying for tails, and gliding for Knuckles.

Many of that is in part due to the glitchiness. The stiff controls and unnecessarily strict jumps are all things that are a result of the game being released unfinished and underdeveloped. Same with the gravity-pulling eyes.  Between the platforming and the pull on the eyes being far too strong (not to mention the hitboxes in the game being wonky as all get out) it made the  last part of the game incredibly frustrating.

I personally liked having all of the different playstyles. It's part of why I liked it so much. It added quite the variety and changed the way levels had to be designed.

For all intents and purposes though Sonic 06 was everything a Sonic Adventure 3 would have been. It's a wonder they changed the name.

  5. I, too, am experiencing this. Whenever I go from my phone to my computer it logs me out of one or the other and I have to log back in any time I try to access the site on the other. I'm never on both at the same time. I alternate depending on whether I'm at work or not.

Luckily it amounts to just clicking the log in button and it just automatically signs me in without needing my password every time but it's strange and slightly annoying.

It's keeping the story, characters, and gameplay all intact, just removing the bugs, horrible framerate, and load times.

Though honestly, even bugs, load times, and any other technical issues aside, oh, and story, the game is still objectively flawed, and there are problems with a lot of the core gameplay mechanics.

Also, you actually liked Sonic 06? Like, legitimately?

I did. The only reason it isn't one of, if not the top game in the series was because of said bugs and loading times. Hell, just getting the loading times out would improve the experience from not having to wait every time you die.

    How was O&M boring? o.O

It's one of the most tense fights in the game, and really tests your skill.

Also, many fans seem to agree that not only is DS1 the best, but they haven't done a good gank fight since O&M.

Difficulty means nothing to me. It neither makes the fight better or worse. It just makes them more or less of an obstacle.

Boss fights are best for theming and atmosphere and O&S are one of the most bland fights in that regard.

I completely disagree about Dark Souls 1 though. It's a piece of shit compared to every other game in the series.

How do they even define a "gank" fight? Were the Watcher & Defender not good enough? The grave robber trio? The tiger brothers?

  8. 7 hours ago, Celli said:

I'd also add Ornstein and Smough from the first Dark Souls, and Emperor In from Metroid Prime 2.

People always mention this fight but I've always found it boring. In just Dark Souls alone you have the Moonlight Butterfly and Sif. The rest of the series has way better fights in general though.

Maiden Astraea, False King Allant, Nashandra, and the Fume Knight all outclass anything in Dark Souls 1 imo.

  9. I finished Horus Rising so now it's on to the second book, False Gods. Already things are very different in this book, but that's to be expected when it's a different author. There will be differences.

Foundation And Empire by Isaac Asimov.

Old School Scifi is the best.

I've wanted to read Asimov books. They can be hard to get ahold of iirc though.

I've been told to read Mutants. I'm told it's right up my alley.

  10. I would be totally okay with a Sonic 06 remake as long as they aren't going to take liberty with it and remove parts of the game because they didn't think they were good.

Mach speed sections, alternate character parts of levels, etc. I want the game as intact as possible. Part of why I loved it was the variety in gameplay.

  11. My favorite bosses tend to be ones accompanied by amazing music. Bosses that are thematically awesome regardless of the gameplay mechanics.

    WARNING: there be spoilers ahead

Sonic Heroes - High speed battle above the clouds

Wild Arms 2 - Main character effectively uses Spirit Bombs on the final boss until he dies good and proper.

Baten Kaitos: White Wings and the Lost Ocean - God of destruction at the pinnacle of a tower at the top of the world? No prob.

    Just to name a few.

<_< Well that was annoying. I tried to embed them all separately but the forum decided to put all of the spoilers cascading in the same tag.

Never heard of Slayers, but the mix of "so much drama" and comedy sounds interesting, lol

It's well worth the watch in spite of it. There's five seasons total.

Lina Inverse, one of the main characters, used to be one of the most popular anime characters. You may have seen her without realizing what she's from.

  13. Last one I finished or last one I was actively watching? :P

Last I finished was the first season of Slayers. Currently watching The Ambition of Oda Nobuna.

Slayers was amazing until they tried to do so much drama. It really fell flat in that department. The comedy is top notch though.

Oda Nobuna is everything I love about modern anime. Plenty of action, cute girls/fanservice, and funny almost throughout.

  14. This is the first time a trailer has actually given a release window of any sort iirc. Every other one just said "Coming Soon".

@Kyoshi KH3 has been in the works long before Final Fantasy VII, both in planning and in actual development. It was always meant to happen after Final Fantasy XV. They've only recently started to slow down on FFXV DLC and whatnot so it makes sense that the production for KH3 is speeding up. On top of the fact that they don't have to make it from the ground up I really do see it coming in 2018. I actually expected it in 2017.

It's strange to me that anyone even thinks it'll take much longer. It's like no one else has paid any attention to its development. Between Square-Enix's change in management forcing games like FFXV and KH3 to hurry up and the fact that KH3 was technically announced too soon because of a leak we're well within acceptable development time on this game.

Stealth games, like 4 of them, can't do it. Metal Gear, some ninja Indie game, and Dishonored.

At least in Metal Gear's case you can still play it like an action game. They give you more than enough guns to handle the enemies.

What's the resolution of your computer screen?

Motion blur is a tool that adds a blurring effect to the screen when you turn the camera or the screen pans around to give the effect of a smoother framerate.

    I have no idea.

Our eyes are not cameras. Our eyes do not see in frames per second. We can see far higher than a mere 30 FPS.

I'm aware that optics is way more complex than that

Playing a game in 30fps is exactly what I see in real life though. Are you telling me that's not normal?

Click the gear icon, and change it to 720p60fps or 108060fps.

Also, none of the Uncharted games run at 60. The remastered versions run at 30 with motion blur.

I did that. The 60fps ball is super choppy.

I don't know what motion blur even is.

Here, please watch this video in 60fps.

I know the difference between 30 and 60fps. I just don't think it automatically looks or makes things better. I've played many games in 30, just as I've played many at 60.

Also that video doesn't seem to run properly because it doesn't even run the 60 ball much better than 30. It should be much smoother to be at 60.

For me it's any game in the Assassin's Creed series. The first game literally put me to sleep, and the sequels could never grab me long enough to care. Maybe sometime in the future... :/

I'm the same. Black Flag is the only one that's ever been worth my attention, in part because of the boat stuff.

Games aren't made for a certain framerate. It all comes down to whether the developer used the hardware to program the game to run at that framerate. Uncharted wasn't "made for 30fps". It runs at that because the hardware it's running on is extremely weak..

60 is objectively better than 30. The lesser frames you have, the choppier a game looks, and as a result, worse. GTA V on consoles runs at 30 fps and it gets frequent drops, resulting in a choppier image. You're probably used to 30 fps, so I think that's why you make the argument you do.

It makes things look far more realistic. Closer to what we see in real life. Unless everybody sees life at 60fps and I'm the only one who sees everything at 30 (I'm aware that optics is way more complex than that). It makes games look cheap more often than not. In a game focused on story and atmosphere the worst thing you can do is make it 60fps.

  21. I echo the disinterest in Skyrim. Oblivion was much better imo.

@Envy I'd suggest playing other FFs before you give up on the series entirely. FFX is pretty different and has lots of roadblocks for newcomers. Final Fantasy VII is probably the easiest game in the series if you wanted something to ease you into it.

  22. Just now, Celli said:

Alright. Well, the entire trilogy runs at 60 fps. Would you say it's not immersive with that framerate?

It's hard to say since I've never seen it run at a lower fps but any game that's gone from 30 to 60 has actually been ruined by raising its framerate. I suppose I'd have to admit that it somewhat depends on whether the game was designed for that framerate or not. I deny the notion that 60 is inherently better than 30 at the very least.

For example, Uncharted. Having played it in both 30 and 60 it just doesn't feel right at 60 since the original games were at 30. It was made for that.
