Bliss nodded in agreement with Hurricane.

 

"Normally I wouldn't be so judgemental but..." Bliss sighed, "after what happened with Royal Flush...who's to say this pony aint here to cause trouble..? Let's keep our eyes open." She then turned to Clover and continued to hover down with her, the ground getting nearer and nearer.

@, @@Lightning Bliss, Clover hadn't noticed the stranger as she was trying to not look down and just concentrating on hovering on the air current. Only when she felt all four hooves touch the ground, did she look.

 

"We had better be on our guard," she said. "This is far too convienient, after Royal Flush's attack. Nopony's supposed to know that we're here."

Almost done with his work, Everlast, made a few last notes and inspected his subjects one last time before he would release them. On the ground before him were a pair of diamond dogs trapped in the same way Bliss, Hurricane, and himself were. He had found them a short distance away from where the crown had fallen, and saw a perfect opportunity to get a glimpse into the magic the card clasher wields. 

 

He had finished studying the magic within the cards, and now knew how to deactivate them, leaving the cards intact and reusable. What a trick that would be, using his own cards against him.

 

He finished, and picked up four cards, two with pictures of chains, and two of ice. He quickly picked up the cards and stuck them between the pages of his book, and left the diamond dogs lying there, escaping back to the camp before they recovered enough to take him captive in return. 

 

Everlast hardly even noticed the new pony approaching the group.

Hurricane stayed on the cloud and watched Clover and Lighting Bliss fly back to the ground. She looked back at the new pony who had just walked to the camp. "Well, if this pony's gonna be hanging around here, he might as well know not to mess me." she said. She flew off the cloud and into the air. Hurricane showed off her agility by twisting and turning around clouds and trees. She made sharp turns making sure to intimidate the stranger. Finally, she decided fly high into the air. When she hit the highest point, she grabbed her dagger and closed in her wings and dove down, after a few second, she started doing front flips and once she got closer to the ground, she used her momentum to fling her dagger at a tree past the stranger's face with perfect accuracy. Hurricane landed with beads of on her forehead.

Once they were saftly on the ground, Bliss immideatly jolted her head down, pointing her horn at the stranger's general direction, and sretched her wings out. She had remembered back in her day, when dealing with predators or threats of the buffalo tribes, the key, they explained to her, was to make herself look as big as possible. Since she didn't know how to properly control her magic, she was going to do just that.

 

She stuck her tail out and upward, followed by opening her wings as wide as she could in a peacock style, snorting all along the way. Whoever this stallion was...she wasn't going to let her guard down.

Quickdraw looked at what a couple of the members of the group were doing with a raised brow. Whatever it was, he wasn't impressed. He'd seen it all throughout his travels; this was nothing special. Nevertheless, he still approached carefully, tightening the grip on his large shotgun in case they tried to do anything funny. They sure seemed on edge; probably from Royal Flush's little fiasco.

 

"Well, if this is how you treat folks in need of help, then maybe I misjudged y'all when I first saw you. A shame really... I thought alicorns stood for helping others. Guess I was wrong." He directed that last statement at Lightning Bliss.

Hurricane retrieved her dagger, not taking her eyes off Quickdraw. She didn't say a word to him. She just gave him an unpleased and irritated look. He looked perfectly fine. She didn't know what kind of help he needed, but she knew she didn't want anything to do with it. Hurricane figured she would let some other pony handle this stranger. As she walked past Lightning Bliss she whispered in ear. "No offense, but you kind look like a cat on a hot tin roof." she giggled a little bit before walking off. She walked into the woods and once she was out of sight, she silently flew up to a cloud above Lightning bliss and Quickdraw.

At that of Hurricane's whisper, Bliss turned an immideate shade of cute pink on her face and dropped her stance, feeling very awkward and shy at the same time. "ERM um..." she blushed even pinkier before turning back to the stranger. "Can you blame us for being uptight? Seems odd that a stallion of your 'caliaber'" she refrenced when she noticed his 'hardware' hanging off his flanks, "would find us out here in the Everfree Forest...We've had too many odd coniencidences to be tolerating strangers... No offense good sir..."

 

At that she folded her wings but kept her ears up and stretched wide, making her look more like an elephant only with a pony body.

 

"State your business why you are really here..." she snorted at him sensing more to his words then meets the mouth.

Rax'Mar snapped awake, having fallen asleep against a nearby tree. "Who? What? Huh?" He looked around before focusing on the others. "Hey... err... hmm..." Looking at him, he took out his staff in a non aggressive manner. "Is there a reason we are immediately jumping down each other's throats? I know, I know, mysterious pony from the woods. I get that part, I've played it before myself, and the one you were tangling with earlier seems to have filled the same role. But why don't we just take a breath and be polite, even if he is suspicious, and maybe that shotgun won't need to go off?" He eyed the metal shaft attached to a wooden pole. "Alchemists and their 'gunpowder'... meh," he added under his breath so that they wouldn't be able to hear him. "So... err... sir," he started, trying to be as polite as possible. "What are you doing amongst these fine conifers this evening?"

Quickdraw looked at the pony with the slightly weird hoof.

"Well, you don't seem so uptight as the rest of your group. Name's Quickdraw. I've been travellin' through these woods for quite some time now. A nasty lil' pack of timberwolves attacked me in my camp when I was asleep. Varmints ruined my map and nearly all my supplies. I haven't been through these woods before, and without a map, I'm walkin' through here blinder than a bat in broad daylight. I'm planning on makin' my way through Manehattan so I can resupply myself an' get back to my home in Apploosa. I was hoping that you might be able to help me?"

"I do not trust your intent traveller, for someone attacked by Timber Wolves you seem to be in fine shape. Not many survive a Timber Wolf attack. I for one refuse to welcome you into the camp. If I were you, I would continue wandering through the woods." Blaze stared down the so called QuickDraw blankly.

"I don't think you're in any position to make that call," Quickdraw said blankly, observing the group. He could figure out who exactly was in charge of the group, and it certainly wasn't the one speaking to him. "No, you ain't the leader, just a 'hotshot' alicorn who thinks he is. And for your information, I happened to get my gun and drive a couple of them off without them touching me. But I was outnumbered, so I had to retreat and find somewhere else to sleep for the night. When I came back, they tore through my things. All I have left now is my gun, the traveling cloak I'm wearing, and my ammo pouches."

"Hah. A leader of this group? They would be so lucky, no the leader of this group is Raze. He will decide if you stay or not. A 'hotshot'? Hmm. Perhaps, but only because I have the power to back it up. You have ammo, clothes, and guns, I'd say you'll be fine out there."

Bliss had a small feeling that this 'Quickdraw' seemed well reversed in his story about timberwolves, almost too perfect to avoid Blaze's interogation...Still though...she didn't trust the stallion. The only thing that seemed to peak her interest was that he was trying to get home to Ponyville...where she was raised half her life and her parents still lived.

 

"You live in Appleloosa? I don't recall seeing you around those parts when I was younger...No offense," she added in, "you seem much older then me...You were a long time resident there?" She still had her ears backed down in face that said 'i still don't trust you' look before she trotted back to be closer to Clover and Hurricane. As she walked passed Blaze however, once again her horn reacted in a spurt of rainbow magic, sending her head back aggressively.

 

"Gah..." she shook her head, fear struck as she glared at Blaze. The longer she stood near him, the more her horn flickered. "What is wrong with you Blaze..." she finally spoke not intentionally outloud, "something is up with you..." She walked away, keeping her eyes on both stallions.

The Entity modified it's voice to Blazes, "What are you babbling about Princess? There's nothing wrong with me, I just don't trust this guy alright? I should be asking you what's up. Do you not trust me? Maybe because your horn is sending the wrong information?"

Rax'Mar looked towards Blaze carefully as he considered this. "Well... perhaps that would be the safest thing to do. But, honestly, I like him. And that shotgun would be able to clear a pack of those with some decent aim and a full clip." He shrugged and glanced at Lightning Bliss before going back to Blaze. "Perhaps we should hold off arguing until we solve the manner at hand..."

Hurricane turned her focus from Quickdraw to Blaze. "What is up with you Blaze?" she said to herself. He definitely wasn't right. She may not have known the alicorn for long, but she knew he wasn't being himself. Now Hurricane was intrigued. She wanted to get to the root of Blaze's problem. She figured it was just a simple problem like maybe he misses a loved one or something.

"I don't know what you two are talking about. I'm normal Blaze, I'm not acting different in any way. Can we just get back to the matter at hand? Like the pony who just stumbled into our camp we have to take care of that before we start accusing people others of things that don't make sense."

Hurricane flew down to Blaze. She landed right in front of him and looked him dead in the eyes. "No Blaze. You're not normal. I know it, so don't deny it anymore. Something isn't right with you and I'm not gonna concern myself with that new pony. You're more important than that tough hot shot. And I'm not gonna let you stay this way. Just tell us what's wrong." Hurricane said with a firm voice. She was starting to think this was more serious.

Clover watched the newcomer, carefully. Tho his story seemed plausible, something about it just didn't add up to her. She thought that it would be a bad idea to let him into their group; his turning up just then seemed far too convienient.

 

@@Lightning Bliss, She whispered to Lightning, "I think we ought to discuss this in private, where the stranger can't hear. I can put up some privacy wards around us. I don't know who he is, but I don't trust him. I don't know why, but something about him just raises my hackles and Twilight always told me to trust my instincts."

Bliss nodded in agreement, already she was annoyed with Blaze as it was with her horn on the fritz whenever he was around. She followed her to a more quiet spot and sat down and waited for her to put up the wards.

 

"I don't trust him either," Bliss replied back quietly, "and something is wrong with Blaze too...I just...I can feel it..."

@@Lightning Bliss, Once Clover had put the privacy wards around herself and Lightning, she settled down to talk.

 

"Yes, something is very wrong with Blaze, I can feel that too," she said. "I don't know what to do about it; he snaps if you ask him if he needs help. As for the stranger, his turning up now this moment to ask us for help seems far too timed for me. If we follow him to Manehatten, who's to say what's waiting for us there? Maybe he has friends who want to hurt us. We ought to be on our guard."

"We can't assume anything..." Bliss added in after Clover finished, "but we certaintly can't let our guards down...As for Blaze... I feel like there's a battle going on inside him...not of his own mind or heart but...like he's actually battling something inside of him...Theres disharmony in his soul and...It's evil...and cruel..." She sniffed remember the words Blaze or...whoever it was, that said those horrible things to her.

 

"Quickdraw is another story though entirely. I look at him and it screams suspicion...I mean...if he has plans for us, doing so in Manehattan seems like a bad place to do it...there being so many ponies around and all..."

@@Lightning Bliss, "That might fit in with his plans better; after all, nopony with sense would follow a would be assassin to a dark and lonely place, but a bustling city? That would appear safer," Clover said. "Also, a lot of these city ponies would just avert their eyes and hurry past if they saw somepony getting hurt. That's why I prefer to stay in my home town of Trottingham; small towns are more friendly."

"There's nothing left to say. I'm normal Blaze and nothing has changed about me. I'm not going to stand here and get prosecuted for thing I haven't done. There's nothing wrong with me and I don't know how to say it any other way."

 

"Raze can deal with the new-comer." Blaze began to walk off to a different corner of the camp, but his headache stopped him from moving any further. 'Uurrggh! Silence! Or I will come in there and make you once more' He shook it off and continued walking.
