planning Ponyfinder - The Bronze Horseshoe Guild

Flight Risk

Recommended Posts

Hello everypony! Flight Risk here (Risky if you prefer a shorter name to address me by), to tell you about a game idea I was hoping to run here on the MLP forums.

Is anypony familiar with Pathfinder, or perhaps Dungeons & Dragons? If the answer is yes, draw yourself to the next question. If the answer is no and you wish to learn more, also draw yourself to the next question anyway!

Have you ever seen the "Ponyfinder" rules for Pathfinder? These include several different ways to incorporate MLP: FiM into a fantasy-like setting (or a more modern one if that were preferred!)

I have two links to show everypony to help them educate themselves on the subject matter I speak of:

Pathfinder Classes:
http://paizo.com/pat...rd/classes.html

Race Guide:
https://docs.google....R9iY/edit?pli=1

Something to keep in mind about races and classes: I'm really leery about allowing evil races (like the Lunar Ponies, Changelings, and Dragons) unless the players are willing to play GOOD characters. Like, the exceptions to the rule, you know?)

What I am to do is get a small group of players who are interested in playing to create characters (with a little help from your friendly neighborhood Game Master) and are willing to play in a setting shortly after, or many years before the current series.

So, can I have a role call of interested ponies? Or perhaps I could field some questions?

So I'm somewhat interested in this. Would it be via Skype or by forum posts?

Also you mention Lunar Ponies being one of the evil races but the guide you linked places them in Neutral. Just thought if point that out.

I'm aware they're listed as neutral, but the last few times I've run this (for my RL group) they've tended towards evil because well... they're jerks  :okiedokielokie:

They're just seen as "evil" by other races. IE, when Luna's chariot arrived during Nightmare Night they elicited a rather negative reaction based on looks alone. They're like the Dark Elves of the pony world.

And this would be played by forum post, so a lot of game mechanics would be replaced merely by RP.

And supersonicfan91, I would be more than happy to help everyone create their characters. All you really need is a concept to start and we can always go from there  :D

Wanting to participate with Artemis Featherclaw.

That would be fine. Upon glancing over her profile, she is good, correct? Or at the very least not evil?

I'm interested, just not sure how to fit my OC in as he's an engineer. Might have to make a new one.

What tech level is this RP going to have?

Well, the way I have it planned is this:

It takes place AFTER Season 4, but not too far after. Tech level can fall under just about anything the ponies themselves have access to (or we can alter that a little bit as well). I mean, if someone wanted to play a Gunslinger Pony of course that would mean that there were firearms usable by ponies for example.

Ah, okay then. I'll get my OC sorted tomorrow. He already exists, I just need to make some additions to his backstory.

Regarding D&D experience I'm currently running a 4e campaign but I've never played 3.5e or Pathfinder.

I'll link some tools we can use for play. Again, it will probably be more RP than stat based (considering it's on a forum) but we can give it a shot, eh?

What we have here are a fillable character sheet and an online dice roller. The way I prefer to roll your six primary ability scores Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma is as follows:

You roll FOUR six-sided dice and drop your lowest roll of that set. You repeat this process for every ability score. Once you get a total of six scores, you place them wherever you like.

I'm guessing that our characters have joined up as a result of some kind of advertisement for the Guild? What is the Guild's intended purpose, adventuring for it's own sake or something greater?

I've played D&D 3.5, but never pathfinder. Will this RP be using dice and character stats and all that?

I just noticed your above post. More so, will it require we use this sort of thing frequently? I feel this may be a bit complicated for a thread based RP. I've never played like this on here.

Aye, I've done plenty of pathfinder. I'm pretty interested. It just depends on how you're going to run it. There's this online platform specifically for pathfinder roleplays you could use. That along with Skype will make us come a long way. However, using just Skype may just be enough as well.

I have made a shitload of characters, so you won't have to help me with that :3

How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Three percent of the population likes classical music, if only we could get it up to four percent we'd be back in business and all our problems would be over." How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Everybody loves classical music! They just haven't found out about it yet!" It's an entirely different world. It's what you make of it that counts.

I found an easy way to find out if you've inspired someone. If their eyes are shining, you know you're doing it!
